I have a small amount of hope for a silent update, but if the updates didn't even warrant a slide in the keynote, then I can't imagine they're going to be all that interesting, given some of the crap they spend their time waffling on about.

Fact: Most Mac updates aren't included in the WWDC Keynote.

In fact, this was the first time they were talked about since the 2009 MBPs.

Lack of mention does not imply lack of update.

They didn't mention the Mac Pro either, but according to the latest rumors it's about to getting updated.

The mac pro angle is our only hope for a quiet refresh this month

The question is..
macbook pro was "only" 230 days old.. why would they spec bump it and not the imac?

The positive thing that everyone should take from this is that the next update is obviously going to be totally badass.

I think it will be released with mountain lion now. If it was going to be released in the next month it would have got a mention. They may even wait for when they can do Retina. So late 2012/2013. So sad! Will have to hope the Dell piece of rubish keeps working.

Well... this makes my choise much easier.
No shift to Mac as planned. I will now stick to PC.

Same.

I was planning to go back to Macs if Apple had released new iMacs today.

The new MacBook Pro is fine with that GT 650M and Retina display, but it's just not enough for my needs.

I don't need a mobile PC. I want a desktop, a damn desktop to sit in my room with enough power to run everything I want.

And no, that GT 650M is not enough. It maybe enough for people that like to play with 30FPS, but not for me.

My only hope is when the store is finally up again there will be a little red New next to the iMac. Currently in UK have the home page fronting the new MacBook Pro but when go to store get the "We'll be back" banner

I said a while ago that i didn't think imac would be updated at wwdc. I don't think we'll see an imac update this year at all. The argument of "but they've always an update every year" means nothing. Apple has a new CEO with a business plan. I personally don't think the imac is ready for retina yet and they are holding off until it is (maybe next year?)

Well, i'm not gonna go into rage mode over this. Instead i'll contemplate for a while if i'm going to wait or buy the 2011. I can't say i'm not disappointed, because really, i am, especially since i've saved up for a hardware splurge in shape of a new top iMac, another 27, heaps of memory, perhaps an ssd.

I mean, i love apple products and all, i have a iPhone, an MacBook Pro and a iPad as well as an old iMac, but the iMacs specs are really in dire needs of a bump.

And as exciting new stuff can be, i still don't think it's worth the emotional investment to get really angry. A slight disappointment over not having a updated machine when i've managed to get two summer months off, thats all.

So are you implying that no one uses a desktop anymore?

No I'm implying I have little sympathy for Mac newbies throwing their toys out of the pram saying they are not moving to Macs any more because they didnt get the spec uplift they so deserved!! Laptops and desktops have their uses. I use both. But still coming home to my Macs after spending a day doing battle with work PCs (all top spec and should have been flying) feels like going for a walk on a sunny day in May through a meadow with birds singing

I am thinking exactly the same

Guess they will release new imacs when ivy bridge is nearly outdated.
They should just go on and get a new CEO.
