Perhaps just another sign of Apple axing ..its desktops line.
Chapeau Cook,Adieu Apple.
Its been a pleasure till it lasted.

This thread has gone a bit dead. Has everyone given up hope?

It's mid October...I don't think it's happening. But I'm still giving it until Black Friday to see if they release new iMac's. You'd think we'd have a rumor or part numbers listed at Best Buy by now though...

If he had part #'s today, they'd be coming out tomorrow.

Best Buy often makes room in their inventory system based solely on speculation.

Who knows when they will come out but what I'd like are (and this is for both iMac and TB Display):

  • Reduced / anti-glare screen
  • Narrower bezel on the sides so there's less of a gap with multiple monitors.
  • Standard Vesa mount and adjustable height stand!!!

It won't happen after the 24th until 2013. We have two weeks left. If I were a betting man, and I am, I would bet the house on "no update this year" and put an odds parlay on "iMac EOL'ed."

Coming from the last rumors "in the air" since today, it should be added a new feature that we could expect from iMac 2012, even if I personally don't believe this one : 32 (and maybe 24) inches screens ...

My new estimate for when the iMac update will arrive...

When Intel stops producing Sandy Bridge.

Seriously though, wtf? Anyone with any new rumors (with links) to announce?

I kinda hope Apple are taking so long because they are trying to really surprise & delight their customers. I've said once before, End of the "all in 1" and introduce a hybrid,

Thunderbolt Display with 4K

&

Completely new Mini that is not so Mini with up-gradable desktop GPU, CPU & RAM.

The advantages for this in Apple's eyes would be,

1) Simplification of manufacturing process = Save lots of $$$

2) User up-gradable parts = customer satisfaction

3) Fix/replace specific parts = Saves more money (not replacing LB, GPU & CPU)

4) Roll out quicker upgrades like GPU & CPU make more money in long run only have to wait on the chips..

5) Lets them move in a more "portable" direction without dissatisfying the customers who want / need desktop performance.

Why replace a whole system when you only want a CPU / GPU bump?

All in a box a little bigger than a Mini that can sit comfortable behind a 27" Thunderbird display.

You could imagine in like Apple making their own Hacintosh Box but obviously freaking good looking.

Just got a Wacom Cintiq 24hd touch, and all they must be adding touch to Macs. Mountain lion basically makes that thing a 24 inch iPad. Very easy to navigate the OS with touch, feels even better than the trackpad. There's still plenty of things that aren't optimized for touch, and Apple doesn't half-ass anything. So it might not be this time around, but it works very naturally already.

I see why you never answered my question about your claimed "general consensus".

I didn't answer because you can figure it out for yourself. Just look for the poll threads about when the iMac is coming out, and you'll see a significant (and growing) share of people picking 2013 or later/never/etc. I'm not going to copy and paste links for you, I'm just not that considerate. (shrug)

Oh, I'm sorry! I had thought you made it all up, but you're actually just a bad***. I don't want any trouble, so I won't point out how the claim "imac end of line is general consensus" and "an increasing number thinking 2013" is different or how you coul have just said that you got it from the polls in the first place, when you were asked. Wait, now I did after all ... So sorry again!! Please don't reply with your cunning sarcasm and brilliant (shrugs) again, I will freeze.
