I noticed prices for iMacs are now dropping on Amazon, does this mean that the iMac refresh could come any time soon?

It'll be my first Mac although I've used them for a while at college and University.

Roll on June 25th (my birthday and hopefully the new iMacs will be out by then so I don't have to wait)
In the US, Amazon is just price matching Best Buy.
They do this all the time.
That price has been the same for a month now.

Nice, but what about removing the top part (forehead???) and have the iSight built into the Apple logo?

No, I don't think the iSight in the bottom would be a good idea, but removing everything and just having all screen wouldn't too bad.

Looks Okay I like the design.

I don't think I personally like it, but I just wanted to see how it looked.

I'm guessing you'd look pretty ridiculous reaching down to FaceTime like that. lol. That, or your monitor would be way too high. Either way wouldn't work very well.

Exactly my thoughts..

good mockup but perhaps it could be simetrical above and below.

Like the iphone, the chin is the same size as the forehead. And a small thin bezel on the sides.

Yeah, I literally made it in a few minutes and didn't put too much thought into it at all, but yeah there are somethings that could definitely be changed to make it look better.

I think if there is a redesign the black bezel will stay around the screen but it will have a reduced chin like the mockups suggest. The mockups I've seen are good prediction of what i think will come this refresh.

And a 30 inch panel would be great with the same 27 inch form factor. The width might enlarge though, I'm not sure.

Getting Anxious

Im starting to pull my hair out. No new leaks on iMacs but plenty on MacBook pros. Can't waite to get my hands on one. Anybody seen any recent leaks or rumors? I'm dieing.

Yes. True. But regardless they are still rumors. Even if they were just from digitimes I would be very happy to see some sort of rumor show up for iMacs. Just something at least.

since we haven't heard anything I'm starting to think it will be a minor update. Probably not a redesign

New parts would have leaked out of the supply chain by now if a major redesign was on the cards.

Size - Offer a small 24in, Medium 27in, and a large 30in model

Processor - Ivy Bridge

GPU - Smallest option should be a 7950m, middle - 7970m, high end - dual 7970m's

SATA 3 6gb/s should be offered. Also USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt. They should offer more connections in the back also. You never can have enough USB and Thunderbolt ports. For me personally I would like to see 6 USB 3.0 ports. and 2 thunderbolt ports.

Optic Drive should be removed and an external drive should be offered as a peripheral if wanted for an additional charge.

Ram - Minimum should be 8 gigs. With different options leading up to high-end which would be 64gigs.

HDD - In the 24in and 27in model offer 2 drive spots. 1 SSD, 1 Mechanical. In the 30in model offer 3: 1 or 2 SSD and 1 mechnical. Or 3 SSD. Or 3 mechanical whatever configuration you want.

SSD's should be cheaper, considering the technology has come a long way. Minimum drive should be 60gig, max being around 512gig.

Mechanical - Lowest drive offered should be 1tb. Max should around 4tb. All minimum 7200rpm with silent technology.

Screen: All 3 models should be IPS at 120hz with swivel and height adjustment options.

Cooling - Use all ultra quiet fans.

keyboard mouse - offer more options than just track pad and magic mouse. Let people pick from any mouse in the store and get cash credit towards to total value if the mouse is more money. Also I would like to see a wireless full keyboard with number pad and track pad built in. :O

Just a few things I would like to see. :D

This is the single biggest thing that got me to wait. The prices of SSDs plummeted in late 2011 especially as production soared in the wake of the Thai flooding killing the mechanical drive supply. I was ready to upgrade my iMac in December, money in hand, but I couldn't stomach a $750 premium to configure with a 256 SSD and 2TB HDD together, which is what I need for my workflow. Hopefully you are correct in your speculation and we get similar options but with a price tag more in line with the current market.

This wait is agonizing... it was already Octoberish by the time I was pondering the possibility of upgrading my iMac... last time I bought an early 2009 model a month out from release only to see a beautiful redesign come out only four months later with a much larger screen. I wasn't about to do that again, but here we are sitting at the edge of April, with Intel all but ready to flood the market with Ivy Bridge, and of course from Apple we get... nothing. Silence. Nothing to plan by, nothing to guide by. The refresh will happen when it happens. It's too bad, because I want to give them my money now. :D

I would love to see them in colors again.

And I like the swivel display in the G4's, hopefully they can bring that back. But as for new features, I think that (as others have said) Ivy Bridge will happen. But if Ivy Bridge ends up costing more, that would put a higher price on it, which might stop Apple from putting it out. It looks like Apple is sticking with the same (great) designs for a while in many of their computers.

I honestly don't think we'll have to wait too much longer. I predict no later than May 1st that we'll see new iMacs.

if this was to happen i would be so tempted to get one the red, green, blue rocked, i hope that the next updates if not this year would bring USB 3.0 that way i will be seeing a lot of differences from 2010 machine when i come to make my next jump.

I hope so. Im just waiting for the update to buy it. My Aluminium 24" is a little slow with Lion

Sounds good to me. 30" with a 512 SSD and a 2 TB HDD, 16 GB of RAM, top GPU/CPU. Perfection.
