I guess I should tell my friends to hold of from buying the 2011 iMac and wait for the next gen. as well as saving up money and possibly getting the 27" version.

I think we will see updates in the coming weeks unless Apple has a major feature, such as Retina, that they want to announce at WWDC.

That makes slight sense, hard to wait that long. I see 20% chance of that outcome and 80% for sooner release. However, either way as long as we get leaks, info and supply strains then the wait will be bearable.

That program should start at wwdc or around that week

Imac update wont hinge on that program and i highly doubt retina 27" display already. Let alone the res is very good. Progression- iphone- ipad- mb air or pro

Imac 2012. = in May, silent refresh, ivy cpu, better gpu, maybe faster RAM- hope its mass ready cheap ram , maybe thinner and antiglare glass

apple would not use a event to talk about glass, look at last years thunderbolt interface. All silent refreshes.

june is wwdc, software focus- maybe some notebooks, ie goes back to my retina comment

Longest imac wait, delayed for ivy. Ivy is out and i believe intel was pressured to anmounce early by a week. Perhaps to sneek in a monday 30th udate. If not by mid may. & no , mothers day promotions have no impact

Last year Apple held a media event for the thunderbolt iMac. It wasn't much of an upgrade for the iMac yet they had the event.

That would be pretty cool, but what kind of detrimental effect would it have on battery life? I can see it now, the wireless keyboard requires 4 'D' batteries ;)

Maybe bluetooth 4.0 will reduce some of the power consumption.

Yes new bluetooth may help. Backlit would be co feature even if we have to wait for ML to utilize the ready go go peripheral

I want to ammend a comment i made before, NVIDIAs gpu anouncememt tomorrow makes no impact to imac because it is a full desktop gpu.

My ideal iMac - ( money considered/ 3rd party ram of course)

Ivy Bridge i7 3.4/5 ghz
1TB 7200 HDD
2GB AMD 7970m
16GB RAM
wired keyboard because I have a wireless one already
Bluetooth 4.0
Backlit Keyboard wireless if made
802.11ac wifi
better speakers
slimmer, less chin. more like the thunderbolt display
antiglare GLASS NOT MATTE, which I'm 95% sure they won't revert to matte after blabbering about edge to edge glass.

OR , this similar model

Ivy Bridge i5, best 15
1TB 7200 HDD WITH SSD COMBO
2GB AMD 7970m
16GB RAM
wired keyboard because I have a wireless one already
Bluetooth 4.0
Backlit Keyboard wireless if made
802.11ac wifi
better speakers

I may be forgetting something but I don't recall any media event for the 2011 iMac. Actually I don't recall any media event ever dedicated to the iMac except at the original introduction in 1998.

I do remember being in downtown Prague CZ in fall 1998 and seeing a 50ft iMac in the most famous street intersection in that country.

Would personally like 1T as the new entry level iMac as well as ability to upgrade to the i7 processor on this model. Currently you pays your £999 and get i5, no option. And only 500GB

+1
Ludicrous design. Like designing a car with no access to the engine.

That's how Apple works, every customer oriented product ( Air, iMac, mini, iPhone, iPod, iPad...) are not meant to be user serviceable. Only the ones with the Pro moniker are more prone to be user serviceable ( Mac Pro, MacBook Pro and the defunct Xserve).

I've actually used this analogy with other people, so I am glad I am not the only one who clearly sees the parallel. It's really rather insulting actually. I mean, I get what they are trying to do (the appliance computer!) but it really just doesn't work. Not until ALL parts have an extremely strong reliability factor (whatever that may arbitrarily be).

I really wish I was actually a Windows fan sometimes. :p

Can't do it though. So I am stuck.

Why was 4/6 the last article anywhere really for imac. No one seems to care about non "i" devices or notebooks. Week after week of nothing is a drainer especially with no leaks or supply notes+ rumors usually stop posting mid afternoon and on weekends. Ug 361 days , sure hope its soon. Seems every time im ready to buy is during an Apple delay, which was caused by intel screwing up again with delayed product. !

Except that unlike the car engine, you don't have to crack open your mac to service every other week.

My ideal mac

My ideal Mac-

27"
I7 (best one)
(whatever the best GPU they offer) I'm hoping it comes 2gb ddr5 standard with 3gb option
16gb memory (upgrade myself if apple dosent match 3rd party prices)
1-2tb HDD with 256gb SSD
LIGHTED KEYBOARD!!!

This is the setup I'm ACTUALLY getting (assuming the le lighted keyboard actually does happen!) oh gosh I hope it does....
