/.../ I agree with you that next week should be appropriate, but wouldn't surprise if Apple waited till the end of the month.
Yes, exactly. What seems to make sense doesn't always jive with apple's schedule and/or thinking.

Thunderbolt equipped ivy motherboards should be releasing soon, after this any PC with one equipped should be able to use the iMac in TD mode.
Don't get me wrong, i don't think we'll see retina either, but the 7970 supports a max resolution of 4096x2160. That has to be at least close to retina.
That'd be sweet...but Apple wont put a full sized, top of the line gamer card in an iMac...
But you would like to use your PC for its power. Therefore, we need to wait for suitable graphics cards with TB to release.
7970m will be a nice upgrade ontop of intel HD 4000
Which leads me to guesstimate a theory notice 10.7.4 was seeded again to developers. Almost near release. I will guess no new imac tomorrow but 10.7.4 first or same day next week or two weeks latest so that the noted graphics changes in 10.7.4 will utilize the intel hd 4000 and maybe also discrete chips
I could be 100% wrong. Worth a connection guess. Plausible
I almost understand what you are trying to say... Let me try to clarify:
You think 10.7.4 will be released the same day as the new iMac or maybe on the same day. Or 10.7.4 might be released next week or in two weeks at the latest, and you feel that it's release will coincide with the new iMac?
I made a bad decision last month to wait for the new 2012 iMac. I should have just gotten the 2011 model as I'm dying from all the waiting. Now I can't get the 2011 model because it feels like I wasted my time waiting.
Maybe Apple is going to wait to release the new iMac until after the return period expires for all systems bought before May 15.

I am probably going to order in the next couple days, myself. That gives an estimated delivery of May 9-11. From what the help chat told me, you get +14 days from date of delivery to get a return. So from around May 23rd-25th to get the new one if it comes out.
Too excited for Diablo 3 to not have a pretty 27in screen in front of me, this 13in c2d MBP isn't going to cut it!![]()
I debated that too, i am using the other low powered home iMac now, so i can't do jack crap on a 2009 21" base low end model. but figured to order, wait, have bill sit, delete hard drive, pack it up, return it and wait for refund just to do it halfway again is more of a hassle. plus once a 27" display is on my desk i won't want to take it down.
* hope the assumed redesign means antiglare edge to edge glass panel and thinner iMac, but same pedestal. I say so because I want the i360 Raindrop turntable pedestal holder thing, in which it fits the current iMac
As such, even if I miss the upgrade it would have little practical effect on me besides the "DOH, SHOULD HAVE JUST WAITED!!" feeling.
/just rationalizing my way through purchasing now![]()
The question is what practical effect would not waiting have on you![]()
With that in mind, is there not a restocking fee, or is that only for the physical locations?
Does anyone know if Apple have ever tried to coincide the release of a product with another 3rd party major release? I know a few people who are buying new machines in anticipation for Diablo III, but it doesn't really seem plausible that Apple would base their release schedule on this event.
Even if the game is going to be beyond awesome.
Despite knowing better, I rush to MR each am and am disappointed by the lack of even the flimsiest iMac or MBP rumors. Meanwhile folks are debating the rumors regarding the possible SIM card design for iPhone 5.![]()
