and Dell is releasing Ivy Bridge for their desktop... Apple is falling behind ... sad thing ... unless they have something hidden in their sleeve, I don't understand why Apple have not release the new Imac ...

Yup. Apple is clearly falling behind. Which awesome dell are you going to get?

:rolleyes:

Would love to see a HDMI port. Both for hooking it up to a big ass TV but also enable it to work with Xbox/PS3 and other devices as an external monitor in target mode :)

HDMI would be great, but i don't see it happening. perhaps someone will make a T-bolt to HDMI adapter

just release it already- ivy + AMD 7970m + 8GB RAM standard +antiglare glass+ slimmer = buy

Great., another dud week / only wed but store never down and no imac news AGAIN

Gotta wait till sunday late night again..

A few days ago the Mac Pro had a 1 day increase in ship times, which went down again yesterday. No other models had this, so it may indicate Pro updates on Thursday or Friday.

After that, I am curious which will be revised next- MBP or iMacs?

will be halfway content once rumor sites and the web has solid signs of iMac shortages or stories, so sick of iOS this, iPhone that, applications this. wheres Mac love,

only matter of time, June 11th is the last day in my book for mac attack. but that seems highly unlikely to promote iOS and osx upgrades for wwdc again and distract with 2-3 mac products on stage.

so, i think iMac will come first, then notebooks all on one update- doing a 15" without an air or 13" pro update seems un-Apple. one line at a time.

I was also thinking GPU options, what if Apple throws in the 7970m into the high end macbook pros or gives a BTO option? would this even be possible seeing that the 7970m is a high end mobile card and the mbp usually gets a middle lined gpu. If so, I would guess max 1GB for laptop and of course 2GB for iMac. However, is there any other possible new good 2GB gpu that could go into the iMac if the 7970m is not chosen?

perhaps there isn't and this is a mute point, like saying ivy bridge cpus won't go in the iMacs.

macbook pro 15' high end -> 7770M

imac 27' high end -> 7970M (maybe nvidia gtx 680M, similar performance)

macbook pro 15' high end -> 7770M

imac 27' high end -> 7970M (maybe nvidia gtx 680M, similar performance)

The 680M isn't out yet but we can assume it will preform like 5% better but will also run about 10°c hotter compared to the 7970M. However the 680M is very unlikely not only because it isn't out yet but once it is releases it will have supply problems like they always do.

Really hoping Apple goes with a 24" iMac. 27" is too big and 21.5 is too small :(

i don't think the screen sizes will change

i see the mac pro, one model of it, is 2-4 business days. i thought it was 1-3 the other day

I've actually used this analogy with other people, so I am glad I am not the only one who clearly sees the parallel. It's really rather insulting actually. I mean, I get what they are trying to do (the appliance computer!) but it really just doesn't work. Not until ALL parts have an extremely strong reliability factor (whatever that may arbitrarily be).

There's actually another REALLY GOOD reason why they need to provide user-access to the hard disks:

What happens when your shiny new iMac breaks. Let's suppose it's completely died and you can get no life from it at all. Let's suppose it has to be returned to the factory for repair.

Are you totally comfortable with all of your private data going back to Apple? Maybe your machine will be stripped down and components might be replaced. Who knows where your hard disk might end up. Of course "best practise" would be for Apple to wipe the drive before repackaging it up and sending it out to someone else, but mistakes do happen.

I am not at all sure I can risk having personal information stored internally - unecrypted - on an iMac, bearing in mind I might one day have to send it away.

If the hard disk is user-accessible, you just pull it out and wipe it before sending it back.

I am probably going to order in the next couple days, myself.

Too excited for Diablo 3 to not have a pretty 27in screen in front of me, this 13in c2d MBP isn't going to cut it! ;)

Hmm it didn't occur to me that others would be looking for a new machine to go along with new Diablo III until I came here. I guess I'm not alone.

I'm pretty close to getting the refurbished 27" as I know it will play Diablo III just fine. But I want this to be a long-term computer so I may as well wait at this point. I'm really on the fence here.

My PC will also play it just fine so I'm not in a huge hurry, but I would like to get rid of this thing sooner than later.

Do you have a link to the i360 Raindrop thing? Have not heard of it.

I feel you on not wanting to take it down after set-up. I only do a limited amount of things that need the power of the iMac. Diablo is probably the most graphic intensive program I need and we know how little it takes to run smooth. Using Xcode on a 13in screen is driving me insane, so the upgrade to the bigger screen is really what I am after. As such, even if I miss the upgrade it would have little practical effect on me besides the "DOH, SHOULD HAVE JUST WAITED!!" feeling.

/just rationalizing my way through purchasing now ;)

Wait until Tuesday 8th May... I sense something with the 4 business day shipping timeframe for BTO iMacs (change the HD/processor/graphics). This happens on pretty much every countries online Apple store.

When I was playing on the (US) store this morning, it only went to 2-4 when I switched to SSD. Every other component change was 1-3.
