I believe that the next update will be huge, with features we never expected.
Otherwise; Why would Apple wait this long?!
This is one of the reasons for Apple to wait for WWDC; Because this new iMac will need to have programs written for it!
On that note, I will predict the following "Crazy" New Imac;

...
Why Apple waited al this time? There weren't any new parts released until recently. There were 5 quarters between the Sandy Bridge release and the Ivy Bridge Release. And Apple usually takes it's time after a new chip is released before launching a new product. The much rumored 680m (supposed to be one of the two possible discrete GPUs to be integrated in the iMac, the other is the 7970m) isn't even released yet.

... Little Remarks:

Curved Retina 3D OLED display 27-32" (3D without glasses) - Never. OLED = Samsung, not durable (~3 year life expectancy), costs more then IPS. And I'm guessing if Apple ever integrates 3D in it's products, we'll see it first in the iOS lineup
Leap technology - So you think Apple is going to release it's own Kinect :p. You should realize it's incredibly tiring to keep your hands in the air all day to navigate your computer. So No, this will not happen
Siri integrated - Not a Hardware feature
3D Camera (& FaceTime) - Never
Face recognition - Not a Hardware feature
Wireless charging of peripherals (keyboard, mouse, touchpad, iPhone 5, etc). - maybe Apple will announce it's integrated in the current lineup when it announces it's new iOS devices.

4-8 cores - 8 cores are not available for the 1055 socket from intel.
1tb HD standard, more optional - is the current standard, although it's Hard Disk Drive
256gb HHD standard, more options - guessing you mean SSD, I'm guessing the standard will be a SSD or a HDD, not both
USB 3 - Pretty logic since it's included in the Ivy Bridge chipset
Bluetooth 4.0 - likely
802.11ac wireless - Possible
Redesigned speaker system - likely if there's a product redesign
Redesigned stand system - unlikely, they've used the stand since the G5
Redesigned keyboard, (thinner, backlit, wireless charge) - this is just a very wild guess ...
Loss of "chin" - why not
Loss of DVD drive - why not

New Airport Super 802.11ac - possible, or it could be released later on.

If they redesign the keyboard, will it finally match the iMac and any other Mac? The iMac is black and aluminium, but the keyboard is white and aluminium (plus the mouse is white). I would rather have black keys to match (as they do on the laptops) and a black mouse.

I do like the idea, but there's no evidence pointing towards a redesign.

A film cover

Hate to break the news but if you put film covers over keyboards to protect them, they actually come in multiple colours, among them black!!!!!!!!

I agree with most of this, but Siri and facial recognition would still have hardware requirements that probably aren't met with current Macs, especially Siri. Siri would probably require a few microphones to help noise canceling, so it would more accurately pick up your commands. Most newer Macs with the FaceTime HD would probably be fine as far as facial recognition though.

What? How would Siri not work on even the current Macs? It's really not about harware, it's about if they want to do it or not. Hell, Siri would even work on a white MacBook.

i think it would be really useful ..for blind people
for example or tetraplegic ones..
but also for normal people..
and if you combine it with Leap Motion..
well it would be great...

ps.
going a little off topic..
did you see this?

Is Gpu within lot far from 7970m..?
by the way i hope nor retina or Nvidia
in my:D next 2012 Imac

Apple must release Macs soon. With ivy bridge models coming out now & this imac competitor , wait must be ending

i hope you're right..
as far i can see..not today..:(
but June is right around the corner
while waiting is biting us;)

Yeah my May predictions were half wrong, half because i said if not by the 16th then it will be June. In 2 weeks well know. Hope for Mac attention. imac too

If wwdc pans to be like last years garbage....

I'm thinking June announce for July available on the imacs and the macbooks with the possibility of the imacs being announced online only outside WWDC. Personally, I wish they would update the entire mac line at wwdc. That would make for a big splash.

I used to think this too, but I think I could get used to the 27 especially of it is close to retina, which I doubt by the way for the 27" model.

It would probably need multiple microphones to cut out background noise. At least to be accurate.

I Really would not worry too much about the XPS AIO. Gateway did this about 5 years ago, and it bombed. People bought it expecting iMac performance, and soon realized it was just another windows machine in disguise.

After reading the confirm keynote today about WWDC, I think the MacBook Pro will be the main announcement, with the iMac being a silent upgrade/refresh online.

Although I'm not 100% positive that the MBP will have retina, I'm almost certain that the iMac probalby won't. It'll just be a refresh design, with the IB processor, and maybe the new AMD GPU. Either way, I think the MBP will steal the Keynote show.

just my 2 cents on doing some research lately.

I don't think that means anything. Other's in the thread stated that it'd be a Tuesday for new products.

If they were adding anything, It would have already happened. Although maybe not because of Memorial day weekend.

honestly WWDC, I think that's why this thread has lost steam.

I think MBP will get retina display at WWDC with talk about new apps from Apple to feature (software side).

Which makes me think that the iMac won't be the main deal at the event. So a silent refresh will be imminent. That means it could either be right now (doubtful because of the time over there in US) or during WWDC, however left unmentioned by Apple.
The iMacs (esp. 27 inch) will not be getting a 4k resolution any time soon imho.

So here's hoping that it's right now getting updated! :D

also previously mentioned in the last 85 pages that ive read is that refreshes happen on Tuesdays AND Wednesdays... and as you mentioned memorial day. i do agree imacs tomorrow are unlikely but none the less would be a welcomed surprise.
:apple:

Didn't know that they refresh on Wednesdays, My bad. I'm new to the forum, and new to the "Apple Hype"

I'm actually waiting to throw out my Win7 machine once the new iMacs get released.

I Switched from Android to iOS, and now it's time to go from Win7 to OSX

Ahh, I see. Well welcome then. Sounds like a great plan, I've got an iPad and an iPhone and an iMac will be my first personal Mac.
