I just really have one wish, maybe its weird, but it something that bugs the hell out of me

i have 1 cinema display and 1 thunderbolt display

I hate that they dont align properly when they are next to each other.

radeon 7970m
and properly aligned to the thunderbolt display and im in heaven

----------

it would be a very bad business move to not bring out any imac's before August

Dont worry, there will be new macs before school starts, to go with the school promotion thingy. Rarely do mac products refresh at fall/winter. All though it has happened

I would be so happy if Apple brings us the iMac with 7970m!

I think it's the way To go, since the actual one uses 6970m.

Being so close to perhaps a announcement on WWDC - shouldnt we have seen something popup in the supply chain of Apple regarding the iMac's. I have no experience with previous releases - just wondering and maybe already calculating in the fact that nothing will be shown at WWDC.

another two all in one
http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/04/dell-xps-one-27-review-roundup-an-all-in-one-pc-worth-owning/
http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/04/sony-new-vaio-l-all-in-one/
and so many laptops with Ivy Bridge with Kepler (and thunderbolt...)...as well
does this mean that all 7970m are reserved for Apple or does this mean that we will have just Kepler on Imacs?
(or does this mean..nothing?:D...WWDC please hurry!and don't disappoint us)

7970m rocks! Just Take a look at its benchmarks on notebookcheck.

I really would love To see it in the new imacs... Even if only in the 27 inch one!

I would definetely gonna buy it

Yes, I too would have felt more comfortable if I saw some hints, but I cross my fingers Apple has manage to keep leaks from happening.
in late 2009 the rumors and model numbers pretty much started the day before:

me too,i don't doubt about it,if was only thinking if...because i have the strange sensation to see Nvidia for Notes and Desks..
but i wish to see me wrong and to have the 7970 :Dinstead of "Nvidia" ( of who have an Ati:()

Most of what we see in terms of rumours tend to be design cues. Aesthetically, I don't believe the iMac needs any changes, as it's already a thing of great simplicity and beauty. Simply upgrading it to support Ivy Bridge, and upping the graphical capabilities of it would be sufficient.

well you'right..of course,that's why we are speculating..but,
today we have Computex with a flood of tablets, laptops, hybrid tablets-laptops,all in one and all of them with Windows 8 that is planned for next Fall,
then we know that both 7970,Kepler 28nm and Ivy Bridge are out and even Cactus Ridge is...so it won't make sense for Apple to left a market builded by them..without anything..it would be a suicide..not quite..but a great loss for sure..and i don't think Apple will..even if i'm "scared" to see a boring WWDC..with just Ios..
(thats due to the lack -of Imac -leaks(sorry : b ) till here)
So you're right,we have nothing but the hope.

I heard Apple was going To use nvidia too... Too sad... Hope they use a brand new 690m, since the actual 680m can't compete against radeon 7970m!

i hope so,but keep in mind that this "fear" is since we heard Apple would have been used Nvidia's chip in the new MacBook Pro,no evidences till now,nor a rumors (that i remember) said that new Imac will be involved in this choice,i hope to see Imacs " naturally"shifting from 6950 to 7970 ( or close)

Agreed... However, if they do change To nvidia in the macbooks, i think that will apply do the imacs too... Sadly

i see there is a lot of misinformation here about gtx680M

gtx680m scores 25236 in 3dmark vantage which is around 14% better than 7970m. that was expected all along. that 4900m 3dmark11 score was based on a prototype gtx680m in april.

with that in mind, and higher quality drivers, i hope apple uses nvidia again, which they probably will.

for those interested, this is a great forum to gather opinions and expectations around future imac high-end gpu solution. believe me, these folks know what they are talking about, till tomorrow, when the gtx680m is expected to be introduced.

Great tip! Thanks!

Looks like we're finding out soon. Origin PC just announced the 680M-based systems, with release dates of June 25th and July 5th.

Looks like NVidea is touting superiority over the 7970M, although that could still be typical marketing misdirection.

Traditionally, Nvidia's top product ends up scoring 10-20% higher than AMD's at 50-75% higher price. This year is probably no different.

I'd be perfectly satisfied - perhaps even happier - with a 7970m.

why happier? because of nvidia-apple fiasco?

"GTX 680M (a $524 upgrade) range from GTX 660M 1.5GB on the low end up through GTX 675M 2GB ($197) and Radeon HD 7970M 2GB ($238)"
if you ask me 524$ is too much for Cook to consider, maybe just as BTO,i hope next Imac won't have just a 675m which is 40 bucks under 7970,but i see this one the choice, because it walks on the same 6970 path .
Had we some references in Lion 10.73/4 about some new cards ,do we need to wait for 10.75?
Is it already been scheduled?Don't remember any hints to an update to June because would have been useful to speculate a little deeper.
