The XR II looks to be a great option. I’d be tempted to trade up from my iPhone X if it got me way better battery life and LTE/WIFI signal strength. My iPhone X is pretty great though - I’m in no hurry to upgrade.

"Breathtaking, stunning and brave." - news article titles on the next iPhone model's release.
"I don't even notice it anymore." - most people with buyer's remorse, trying to justify their purchase.
"I don't care how it looks as long as it makes great pictures." - people that should buy a camera already.
"Well I like it." - people without a sense of taste, but great sense of importance.

...if this camera will give better depth of field, you will see the trend pick up speed with regard to more filmmakers using their mobile to shoot films. With the software getting better (Filmic pro), it's getting harder and harder to tell a difference each year between your iPhone and a 10k camera.
Even in perfect lighting conditions I’m always disappointed by the iPhone’s footage. Everything is so heavily compressed, the dynamic range isn’t great for grading and the lenses suck. It can’t compete next to serious photography/videography gear. As soon as you add a semi-decent lens you notice the difference. Even a cheap 50mm lens shows how basic smartphone cameras are, especially in terms of depth of field.

Since this year, like last year, has pretty much no new innovations confirmed, the only three things I care about in a new iPhone are 5G, WiFi 6, and at least a 90hz screen. Probably none of those will happen and this will be the first time I keep the same iPhone through 3 generations.

So boring this year. I’m tempted to stick with my Xs
I know. I am sticking with my iPhone2G.

FYI, the dispute between Japan & South Korea over hydrogen fluoride and photoresists could SIGNIFICANTLY impact the manufacturing cost of DRAM & NAND flash storage.
You become a more effective speaker by understanding the audience you're addressing. To get this audience to care about the Japan/SK kerfuffle, you have to frame it in the context of Apple and iPhones. What you wrote means nothing here. Generally speaking, what you needed to write was, "If Japan and SK remain in conflict, there could be a severe shortage of Apple products - like upcoming iPhone models - because South Korean firms like Samsung and LG built components like DRAM, NAND, and OLED panels that require a lot of base ingredients like hydrogen flouride and photoresists that are sourced primarily from Japan."

Then they might care. ;):p:D

Perhaps Apple will announce that it's the first mobile device with an inbuilt Hasselblad camera....they'll need to with that dreadful design!

Could I ask a simple question of the commenters here? What makes you think these dummy mockups are accurate? Why do you accept these fake iPhones as the actual design?

Wasn’t planning on upgrading this year.

But I really like the Apple Watch bump on the back of the the iPhone 11/11 max and the tri-camera layout.

With Filmic pro, the iPhone XS max has 12 stops of dynamic range (from what I recall off hand). My point is that the gap is closing, and perhaps with this new camera, it will be even better.
