No, it isn't, LOL. When you get the battery warning, you have to completely stop using your mouse to charge it, even if you're in the middle of important work. How is that not a major inconvenience?
Do you not get any kind of warning when the battery hits like 10% or so? My Magic Keyboard throws up warnings well before it dies -- easily enough to get through a day. Is it not the same for the Magic Mouse?

Apple Trackpad is so amazing if you know how to configure it with 3 finger selection. The MM could be good but to date it is pretty niche

great (though I never use my mouse...), now how about a backlit Magic Keyboard so I can finally have Touch ID? 🤨

Cannot understand the hate for the MagicMouse. I have used basically EVERY Logi Mouse and sometimes still use the MX3, but I always get back to the MM. The Mix of mouse and trackpad, the incredible options with Better Touch, there is no other mouse that tries so hard to just not be there. Tastes differ – some folks like Trackpads, others love mice with plenty of buttons, I kinda dig the simplicity of the MagicMouse. Also,it is simply the best device to work in InDesign and PS and so on — the trackpad on top reduced scrolling vertical and horizontal to an absolute and precise minimum, which no other device offers with that ergonomic simplicity.
I tried really hard to use it, for the reasons you cite. But even if I could get used to the ergonomics (which I find uncomfortable, even with the Elevation Labs Magic Grips installed), I don't find the cursor tracking very precise at all. I found it quite surprisingly jerky, and also heavy.

Introducing Magic Mouse 3 with MagSafe

The coil is on the bottom and when you move the mouse into the middle of the wireless charging mouse pad it clicks into place. Also it stops working while charging. Also every time the mouse hits the pad it gets stuck ever so slightly as the magnet pulls the mouse in to charge.
Not MagSafe. Just wireless charging, like AirPods Pro, iPhones.

I never missed the option to click left and right at the same time. In what situation have you needed it for 20 years now? (I'm just curious as to what I've missed).
In a word, games. I'm not aware of any desktop app that uses both at once, but plenty of games do.

Who cares, I'm one of those weirdos who uses a trackball and the only thought of using a mouse makes my wrist hurt. Plus, you can use a trackball in bed or on the couch, and you don't need a mouse mat. The only problem is that you have to clean the ball, like the mice from the Second Era. I was there, Gandalf, 3000 years ago... but at least this time the sensor is optical.

I'm always accidentally going back on webpages when scrolling down on the magic mouse.

ONe reason I use a cheap 2 button mouse half the time.

Then I sometimes I miss the MM scrolling and switch back for awhile. I think it helps repetitive wear and tear to rotate between 2 mice to switch your grip up a bit.

That’s why for the last 10+ years, I’ve been using a mouse on the right side of my keyboard, and a trackpad on the left side.
Ha, and here I was thinking I’m the only one who does that! Well okay, I didn’t really think that given the size of the planet, but I’ve never seen anyone else work that way.

Powered by Siri and Apple Intelligence. You click on a folder and you’ll get “hmmm sorry I can’t do that”.
Funny. :) That was pretty much my actual experience with Force Click. First thing I always turned off with a MacBook or trackpad.

All they need to do is move the port.

The ergonomics are PERFECT. I know "you're holding it wrong" is stupid Jobsian nonsense when you're talking about a phone, but it's absolutely true when you're talking about a mouse.

You should NOT be treating a mouse as a hand rest.

You absolutely should. It's literally where your hand rests.

Even if you're a 'claw' style mice user, you are resting your hand on it. And it's objectively worse for your wrist health.

No, that's the problem - it only lets you know when it's down to 2%.

Earlier I posted that this is my only complaint about the Magic Mouse, and it's with macOS and not the mouse.

That's why I keep an extra one in my drawer.

What a weird omission. I think that's changed. I did use a Magic Mouse at work for a while (a few years ago) and I remember it throwing up alerts repeatedly as it got lower. Very lame to not give proper warning. Anyway, if it was me, I'd probably make a recurring reminder to plug it in 1x/month overnight.

I know it’s not aesthetically pleasing but a functional mouse needs physical buttons and a wheel. Here’s hoping it’s just like the MX
Really? A wheel? Buttons? What is this? 1993? 🤣

The swiping gestures functionality on the Magic Mouse is so much for powerful. What's next? Upgrade the next Mac Mini with an mechanical Aquabacus instead of a M5 chip?

As long as you only used it in a clean room and never got the scroll ball dirty, I guess. It was comfortable, I will agree there. I still use one at work on my test bench.
Ah, I didn’t know it was unreliable, I’ve hardly used one. Yeah, I just meant it was relatively comfortable.

Right now the MX3 is my standard mouse. I've tried most everything. If they can get people to switch from a MX3, that's an achievement on its own.
It was worth every penny. It's the only mouse I want to use... I have two. One uses the old logi software and the other the new which isn't nearly as good or intuitive for programming things and often forgets its shortcuts. Hope they fix that. Its the only blemish on a perfect product.

The sad thing is, what logi did is really very Apple with its own version of shortcuts that works with a mouse.

if true this would be the first good mouse Apple has made in 30 years.
A brick would be more ergonomic so the bar isn't very high here. I don't know how anyone could manage to use the magic mouse at all. It's awful.

I own multiple myself. Embarrassed to admit how exactly how many. Two at work and a few at home. Just in case.

Not necessarily. Swipes can require moving the hand on the mouse, potentially moving the mouse and a finger movement can incorrectly perceived as a swipe. In addition, to get the same multi-function as a multi button mouse you are now faced with multi-finger swipes.

IMHO, swipes are great on a trackpad, but don’t translate as well to a mouse. YMMV.

I use USB Overdrive to program shortcuts to my mouse. One nice feature is you can program different devices - mouse, pointer, etc. with different shortcuts. I’ve used it for years and it’s been worth every penny.
