Apple? Lowering prices? You are a jokester! 😄

Ditto on the Midnight color.
It’s 2023. It’s possible. How so?

Because Mr. Tim Cook cut his salary by 40% 🥲. He took a pay cut for a reason. Maybe lowering the prices will be the reason. Time will tell.

I thought for sure we would be looking at updates once every two years... Is it worth the upgrade from the Oct 2021 MBPs? Still runs decent, but 6E is attractive. Thoughts?

I really hope they are updated 14/16 MBPs. I need a new laptop by the end of April, and announcing these tomorrow (if that happens) will provide time for some hopefully nice discounts by then. I have a current version on order, but will cancel it if updates are announced, unless there's a price hike!

I would assume not, but we will have to see. I almost bought a used M1 Pro machine today, right before I saw the rumors. I am going to wait and see what the updates are, but I imagine the older model will be worth the cost savings.

And a 300€ price jump in Europe ;)

Yeah, the 16" base model MBP is selling for 2749€ in Germany atm, I wouldn't be surprised if that jumps up to like 3049€.. maybe 2949€ at least, that's what they did with iPhones and iPads.

I just picked up a 16" with 1TB for almost 500€ off thats being delivered tomorrow, curious to see how big the price difference to the new one will be. I don't think I'm sending it back with that huge of a price difference but we'll see.

Apple Silicon really need better GPU performance. M1 Max is not even close to laptop RTX 3080 instead of laptop RTX 3060 for 3D stuff. Even for video, Mac take advantages from media chips and ProRes Encoder/Decorder, not really from GPU itself. Too limited to use and it's better to expand to 3D software.

where did you get that from?

Hopefully not. This is not the same as the case of Macbook Air which underwent major redesign. The MacBook Pro will certainly keep its current and very new form factor. It already had its price hike share.

I mean I hope you’re right. I would be overjoyed if we saw lower prices in any capacity. That 14” MBP looks like a beast, but I can’t justify the $2,000 for it (that’s before the extra money I’d want to pay for 1 TB of storage). That’s just me.

I’m just saying that with Apple’s record profits year over year, I think that they see their target market is accepting their ballooning prices and continuing to pay them. Depressingly. So why change? :(

I do think the time is coming where Apple won’t be able to get away with their pricing any more. They’ve gotten so bad with their nickel and diming. I don’t know when that time will be, but I believe it’s coming. You may have seen me post elsewhere a phrase my dad taught me a while back: Pigs get fed, hogs get killed. Too much greed and people won’t take it any more.

The minor spec bumps don’t excite at all. Europe will be too expensive by a long way as always too. Best we can hope for is a huge discount on the outgoing M1 models as a result. Which is a good result in itself.

Wonder if there will be a mac mini maybe.. Also, when these are released and benchmarks extrapolated, maybe we can look to see how performance will scale to the ultra..

For me the world is on track for a big old recession so it would be nice if they lowered their prices. My biggest gripe is the prices the charge for SSD upgrades, its criminal!

Plus because we all create so much data with our photos and videos we should all have 8Tb drives to house them all as standard lol

Any chance of cheaper storage? Like 8TB that doesn't double the cost?
If you need 8TB of storage on a MacBook ProHard drive you are doing something very very wrong. Let’s say for a minute that you are a film editor which requires the most amount of storage. You should not be storing all your files on the MacBook Pro.
I mean besides editing film, there is no field in the world that requires this amount of storage.
