I'm not so sure about the camera. Is it really that big of a deal? I think most would agree the 5MP is most likely the best of any current smart phone.

What would 1080P video do? Most people watch their video on the phone anyway, 1080P on a 3.5" screen? I don't see that as a "Must have".

I think for most people:

1.) Bigger screen would create a huge adoption rate

2.) Faster processor with better gaming performance allowing newer, "Next Gen" gaming that is only possible on the new iPhone.

It's not only the video recording it's the fact of a 10MP camera as long as beautiful pictures...Think of it if we had this it would then shoot us past the line of DSLR and our iPhones would be better than DSLR. I mean sure not zoom but jesus think of the possibilities. Also 720P option on the camera thing 60FPS! Imagine that! But 1080p 30FPS videos? Jesus thats revolution. Then you could stream the video to the APPLE TV just imagine the possibilities...And i bet MANY people would want that camera. Maybe not just you because you probably aren't into photography but alot of people are.

I do not see why apple would add this. What would be the use of it beyond using your phone to pay for things?

...That *is* the use of it. I mean, that could potentially revolutionize the way we pay for things. The whole wallet-and-credit-card paradigm would be shattered.

To answer your question completely, there are other uses including file transfers -- but this is handled by bluetooth already.

3.7-4" screen.
Better notifications.
Improved bluetooth. For some reason the bluetooth on the iphone doesn't work as well as my blackberry, don't know if it is hard/soft ware but it needs attention.
allow streaming from my itunes MBP to the iphone, so i can have audio from my computer play through my iphone connected to my stereo.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)

Yes it will be able to kill. No joke. The DOD is taking over apple, allow the conspiracy theorys to start.

Just give me a 64 gig iPhone 4 with more speed and Helen Mirren's phone number and I'm sold.

Yes, around june. And here are mine:

Faster processer (1.5-2 ghz please! :D)
Better API's
Complete redesign, let's try something new!
WIFI Hotspot (coming w/ VZW iPhone most likely)

Im not expecting major changes till june 2012. We probably will get a 4gS with minor changes this year

Can Apple afford to do that though? The competition is a lot stronger than it was when they released the 3Gs. Android will have had a couple more software revisions by the end of this year, along with new high-end Android handsets and Windows Phone 7 phones. I'm not saying that any of them will necessarily be better than the iPhone, but some come close already, and not always the best products win out in the eyes of the mass consumer. (Microsoft Windows and Starbucks for example!) I don't think Apple can afford to rest on their laurels and just release an iPhone with minor revisions this year.

Hotspot feature like a MIFI (Mobile WIFI) that can connect upto 5 other mobile devices to use as an internet modem/router.

Faster internet- 3g to 4G more nearer to WIFI speed.

Improved battery- we need to have about at least 1 week+ battery power with intense use of safari/phone etc....as 1 day use is a bit of a pain charging everyday.

Whats the maximum speed on the iphone 7.2Mpbs?

Hotspot thing is coming in iOS 4.3.
As for battery, do you have any idea how big the battery would need to be to last a week with intensive use. You are probably talking 4 times the size of the phone at least.

???

So you're saying that squeezing more megapixels into a sensor is meant to make the images better???

How does that work then?

Its gotta be NFC.

Facetime was the iPhone 4 gimmick. Its an awesome tool, but how often do you use it?

NFC would be a great gimmick to throw at the consumers, and it would actually be useful all the time.

Probably more RAM. Its already the snappiest phone I've ever had and I've owned a lot, including the 1ghz EVO.

I don't expect to see many upgrades on i5.

Yeah, but is the infrastructure in place to actually make use of it?

It's gearing up, slowly but surely, in the form of Mastercard's PayPass and Visa's PayWave terminals which are slowly gaining traction. (And Isis) The problem until now has been not many phones actually have NFC built in, but all this year's new Blackberries will have it, Android is supporting it and hopefully iPhone 5 too. Apple could be in a good position to give it a big boost, what with having their retail expertise as well.

This is one of my main concerns, we need a new notification system. I am sick of the current one.

What current one?

And regarding the NFC thing, what's the point? It would be cool to use my iphone as my debit card, but as long as there are driver's licenses, and shloads of places where this technology won't be adopted, i'll still have to have my wallet with me no matter what my iphone can do.

Good point, it won't completely replace the wallet, but it does mean you won't also have to fish through loose change to pay for small things at convenience stores, coffee, fast food, or tickets on public transport.

Predictions, predictions....

Lock screen notification will be (as others have said) in the iOS upgrade, though announced with iPhone 5 (or possibly "4S", but certainly not "4GS"!). Perhaps another software announcement too, like a tie-up between FaceTime and iChat or (gasp) Skype?

Hardware will include the "Verizon" redesigned antenna, 64GB memory but not a larger screen or the removal of the home button.... yet.

Plus a bacon dispenser, of course.

I'd like to see a laser pointer. Imagine the possibilities... tape measure, temperature check, etc. :)
