Working Antenna this would be the killer feature of iPhone 5 :D
(kidding, I hope it was not posted be4 i could not check 75 posts 4 that)

Lock screen notification will be (as others have said) in the iOS upgrade, though announced with iPhone 5 (or possibly "4S", but certainly not "4GS"!). Perhaps another software announcement too, like a tie-up between FaceTime and iChat or (gasp) Skype?

Hardware will include the "Verizon" redesigned antenna, 64GB memory but not a larger screen or the removal of the home button.... yet.

Plus a bacon dispenser, of course.

Bippity Boppity Bacon!!!! <= Jim Gaffigan is awesome!!

I honestly can't imagine a single person who would be ecstatic and enthusiastic with a huge desire to get the latest iphone if the "new magical revolutionary" feature is going to be NFC. I mean seriously...Apple has a mighty marketing machine...but even they would have a hard time making people go crazy over such a useless technology. Think about all how your life is going to forever change when you no longer have to swipe a credit card! Jesus Christ....

If the rumor is true

Then 1080p video recording with the 10MP camera.

Phew that would be beatifull.

I don't believe that rumor about the 10MP camera because from what I've read Apple moving away from OmniVision to Sony to make the next iPhone camera.

It's supposed to be a 8MP camera no word on if it would shoot 1080p or not but I would hope so.

The reason I believe the rumor about the 8MP camera is because that rumor came out before the iPhone 4 came out and they said the iPhone 4 was going to have a 5MP camera.

As WWDC '11 gets closer I'm beginning to wonder what the iPhone 5 will have that users "won't be able to live without". Looking at the history of iPhone, each yearly update has brought to the table something that changes the game. With the iPhone 3G users got data speeds that were twice as fast, with the 3GS the iPhone was twice as powerful, and with the iPhone 4 there was the retina display. I think I'm not alone when I say that with each iteration of the iPhone so far there has been one feature that makes the previous model feel completely out of date. My concern is that the iPhone 4 is so advanced that Apple will be unable to think of a feature for the iPhone 5 that will change the game again. At first I thought it would be 4G capability, but the more news I hear about it from the carriers, the more I feel like 4G will be more of a 2012 thing. So, what do you think the one killer feature of the iPhone 5 will be?

Well as one of those that got the first iPhone on launch day, and waited till the iPhone 4 launch to finally upgrade my original iPhone - I was happy with Edge service till I got the iPhone 4. Never know what you are missing till you have it in your hands. LOL

I am sure that the iPhone may have a feature that I want; but can deal without till maybe at least till the iPhone 6 or 7. For me the wait was well worth it for the iPhone 4. Right now I will probably wait till the iPhone supports LTE/4G.

Add to that I have to wait till at least June 2012 to cut loose from ATT IF I want to without fees. Though I was told that I can upgrade with a new two year contract to the "new" iPhone in January 2012.

But since my better-half and I are thinking about adding them to my plan so they can get a new phone (going to be the iPhone it looks like :D - their current phone is a pay as you go that is like 3-4 years old  ) that "cut-loose" date from ATT may be pushed back to like February or March 2013.

I think that the main selling points of the iPhone 5 will be:

1. 8 MP Camera
2. Updated CPU
3. iOS 5

I would expect anything beyond that to only make an appearance in the 2012 iteration.

Think you might be spot on there.....

This would be awesome! :)

Regarding the camera, jamming more pixels into a tiny sensor does not improve picture quality. Quite the contrary, it makes it require more light to make the same photo as a chip with less pixels, making the camera have even worse low light performance, all things being equal. The megapixel battle is over boys and girls. it appears that anything more than 12 to14 mp on an SLR gives diminishing returns with current technologies. As for the iPhone, I would much prefer they maintain the current 5 mp and improve the glass, and make the camera much faster (reduced shutter lag) with more and better controls. I have a few-year-old Olympus C765 that takes superb photos with 4 mp.

My $.02...

NFC could have far more uses than just acting as a wallet for small cash transactions, which in itself would be very useful for a lot of people. And mobile payments have the potential to be a heck of a lot more transformative than FaceTime.
The GPS chip for example isn't just for seeing where you are on a map. It's made possible all kinds apps for doing all sorts of location-based things.
Use your imagination.

lol, I'm with you Marlboro man. If that's all Apple's got.. sad.

8 megapixel camera....woopie!

The next iPhone will have a 8MP camera and I would be surprised it could shoot 1080p video, HSPA+ and 64GB

It's been said before but it bears repeating. More MP will likely result in poorer image quality. Why do people want this?

1080P recording and better pictures (Bigger sensor, NOT more MP's!)...

That's a good point but you need to make the device thicker to get the necessary focal length on a device this thin. Not going to happen.

4.3 inch screen size

3.5 is such a friggin pain

My device lives in my pocket and takes vacations to my hand. The current phone already makes my business pants look like I'm jacked on viagra.

I agree I'd actually want even LESS mega pixels in the next iPhone if that resulted in better picture quality :)

LoL too funny, hope your not a sexual harassment lawyer ;)

yeah Apple going to add more megapixels and nothing else.

Have you ever seen Nokia N8 12MP camera compared to the iPhone camera? It clowns the iPhone 4. I'm not saying put more MP into the camera and not improve anything else. If Apple going to improve the camera their going to improve the whole unit.

I do not see why apple would add this. What would be the use of it beyond using your phone to pay for things?

Being able to pay for stuff with my cellphone is the number one thing I miss about all my old phones here (in Japan) which all had NFC type technology.

I would use it every day - vending machines, trains, buses, convenience stores. Until you actually use it, it's hard to imagine how useful it is.

Another hardware Upgrade 4G and Facelift Next Year

So far the biggest iphone announcements have been made by Steve Jobs in 07 when it was first introduced in 08 when it when 3g and last year when it had a complete design overhaul when the 3GS was introduced steve Jobs was absent and it did not have much of an impact as the 3G.

My bets are we may see Jobs next year for a Iphone 4G and a facelift to the design and for this years model upgrades to hardware CPU, Memory, Storage capacity to 64GB, new attenna design and possible graphic upgrades, and a bump in the camera megapixels.

Whatever the changes it will be introduced in June and July and by then I will still have a year left on my Iphone 4 so I'am more interested about next years model and if Steve Jobs will return and make another surprise with the iphone.

I suspect someone's pants are too tight. Of course the square edges of the iPhone 4 do not exactly blend nicely in the pocket. My 3GS, with it's round back is perfect. Even though it's thicker, it's fits better in the pocket and hand. Much more organic feel.

How do more MP make for a poorer image quality? Is it the size of the lens or the screen?

Pixel density. The more pixels you put on the same sized sensor the more noise you get (in film photography this is called "grain").

And you can't just make the sensor bigger. Light needs to refract from the lens to the sensor. A DSLR has a big sensor but that dictates the length from the lens to the sensor, necessitating a big camera.

The phone by itself wouldn't be so bad but I also need to carry keys and a wallet. My original point was that I don't want to see the phone grow substantially is size.
