That's why I said "if it's an optimization cycle". Leopard cut off computers but Snow Leopard included all the ones from the previous year. Same with Yosemite and El Capitan and I believe with all other optimization cycles.

I'm not expecting anything really. This iMac has been in the throes of death for the last couple of years. I'm impressed it's still working.
Snow leopard:
Mountain lion:
Both snow leopard and mountain lion were particularly brutal, because a lot of the computers they cut off weren’t even four years old yet

Question - how does Apple decide on the wallpaper for each OS?
From macOS cheetah to tiger, it was basically the same blue pattern with slight changes every time.
Leopard to snow leopard were both space themed, except snow leopards was a lot more saturated and high-quality.
Same with Lion to mountain lion.
Ever since mavericks, The wallpaper is literally a picture of the location that the OS is named after.

macOS Cupertino! 😉 take it home and off the island Lol or.. will it be macOS11? 🤔

MacOS Ventura
MacOS Orange County
MacOS La Jolla
MacOS Big Bear
MacOS Santa Barbara
MacOS RedWoods

Out of the few names in the article, I really like:

macOS Skyline

Second, I like:

macOS Monterey

And one that is not listed that would be really great if macOS did exactly what the name intends:

macOS Streamlined

:apple:
[automerge]1592262824[/automerge]
MacOS Ventura
MacOS Orange County
MacOS La Jolla
MacOS Big Bear
MacOS Santa Barbara
MacOS RedWoods

macOS Orange County is never going to happy, as it happens to be one of the more conservative areas in the state.

why not just macos 10.16? It's the only os with silly names.

All OS developers have silly codenames for their OS. Only a few have the "courage" to give them to marketing!

Hopefully, it'll just be called macOS 14 to match the numbering scheme with iOS. "10.x" needs to be done with.

Wouldn’t that be a bad reason for using it? Wow, a computer operating system named after a place that got overtaken by a virus.

it wasn’t overtaken, it’s simply a tourist dependent destination. All the tourism has gone, the food lines are 5X as long as normal. It needs people to visit, people from southern CA already widely know about it, but in northern CA (Silicon Valley) Lake Tahoe is a much more popular ski destination, it could help spark attention from that crowd.

If it‘s a consolidation release, Avalon Bay. If it’s a full release Monterey sounds great.
