i have no clue what they could call the new iPhone. anyone have any ideas as to what the name may be?

iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3.5G, iPhone 3, iPhone 3.0, iPhone 3rd G but Apple doesn't do that publicly with iPods, so I doubt that. The new iPhone 3G.. it's not like they're going to sell it with the old one, if you go on their site there's no difference between the Polycarbonate and the Aluminum MacBook.

iPhone Pro
iPhone Video
iPhone BBL (Better battery life) :p

Idk, the first 2 are legitimate guesses. I think it will be the iPhone Pro.

Why? "Pro" denotes a lower model, and there won't be a lower model.

Because it sounds fancy. :p

And I was thinking in the sense of the Samsung Propel and Samsung Propel Pro. The Pro was silver instead of colored and was more like a blackberry. It was made with the business man in mind. Business guys dont walk into board meetings with a bright blue, florescent green, or red phone, with a fancy back design.

Yet, that will only create a Microsoft style naming and people will think that they are getting something better, when its in fact a simple hardware upgrade (2 things max).

Pro, means there is something much much different and also implies a lower end model, which won't happen.

I couldn't say what the name will be, but (if these features exist) I'm sure that video shooting, editing, and uploading will be the main focus of all the marketing.

They're going to pick one feature to really push, and I'm sure that will be it.

Whether that influences the name, I'm not sure. Probably not. I'm also betting that the name stays "iPhone 3G" most everywhere, but with video recording always shown somewhere nearby.

The New iPhone 3g, now with faster 3G.

However, the guy on the commercial will still get interrupted by a phone call regardless what app he is playing with. It sucks for him.

Does their entire business model revolve around a separation of professional and consumer products?

Apple's does. There wouldn't be an "iPhone Pro" without an "iPhone", and there won't be two.

I'm going to have to agree with you. If they ever do make a lower model, they'll just call the lower model "iPhone nano" or "iPhone mini" or "iPhone for cheapskates"

I don't think the name will change on the next iPhone but people will end up calling it something different anyway "iTouch" comes to mind or "iPhone 2G" or "iPhone 2.5G" or "iPhone 1G" or "Gary".

Alright, it was just a comparison and a theory. Sorry if I offended.

Again, just a comparison to show why I think "pro." I wasnt implying Samsung and Apple have similiar business strategies.

What is with people wanting to add "pro" after everything Apple?

Because "pro," to me, sounds idk, professional.

Hopefully it is something good and not lame like what other companies do. I remember Dickens apple sauce when they started making apple cider. Not only was the name lame, but could they come up with a more offensive ad campaign?

"My wife loves the taste of a juicy Dicken's Cider...so do all her friends. Dickens.. the best apple cider."

:D
