Games? It might be too big for games.
Reading for sure, but maybe in a holder.. when my Air slipped and hit me in the face it was no big deal - this thing might break my nose.
Def. marking up screen shots and other things like that.

With a game pad, the Pro will be superb for gaming ...

Everybody knows that people will use this new larger iPad as their day to day camera. :D It will be hilarious.

Still debating if I should give up my SP4 and go with an iPad Pro but my use cases would be

Web surfing, media consumption (YouTube, NetFlix, NAS), eBooks, sheet music, RDC into my NAS

I`m debating waiting on the 2nd gen. I wanted to use this when traveling since tablets dont have to be checked and such, but I`m hearing if you carry this you might as well carry your macbook pro. I`d like to use this to run VMWare Horizon too if I`m traveling so I can work on some school work and such. Also kindle for my text books, since for some reason the cloud reader for Mac and Windows have some of my books missing.

I`m really debating on whether or not to shell out the money, because when you factor in the keyboard, you might as well just get an MB air.

I may look for a drawing course, as this device has inspired me learn how to draw.
I love this!

I'll be reading and editing/annotating sheet music. In my everyday work I tackle stacks of sheet music. In the practice room I have been frustratingly wonting an A4 size screen. In ensemble work, I can't wait to see my colleagues' faces the day I decide to go all digital! I use Scanner Pro for input and ForScore for reading and annotations. The iPad has been approximately like an A5 piece of paper. Now I'll be bathing in the glory of an A4 sized screen. Like real people! In the real world!

I am confused between the iPad Pro and the SP4.

The Surface Pro 4 is more useful because it will be more useful with loads of software, apps and games.

IPad Pro is also good but it really is just a bigger iPad with a better pencil.

If pencil is the main reason then may be iPad Pro. Don't know.

How about getting iPad Air 2 and the new Apple TV. It will still cost less than the iPad Pro and you can still get all the things you want to do.

I can see why Apple will not release the pencil for the older iPads. They know that if they do that then not many will go for the iPad Pro.

Streaming video, note taking, sketches some reading and surfing. I'm not convinced it's practical for train use.

Well this is my dilemma, all I do on my iPad Air is surf the Internet, take a few pictures, watch YouTube videos. No gaming, no movies (with the longer battery life I might start if I get the Pro) so I'm just trying to justify getting this thing as my Christmas gift.

Not sure what I'll be using it for, I'll know once it gets here on Friday.
Currently using a Ipad Mini 2.

I am an attorney and have used an iPad since the first generation for note taking. I have used all sorts of apps and styli, Pencil by 53 being the most recent. It is good, but can get in the way of what you are writing given how big it is. I also keep my files on box.com and will send .pdf's to noteshelf (great app for notes, annotating .pdf's etc.) The one thing I know I will miss is the eraser function on the Pencil by 53 (it has another rubber nub on the other end for erasing). Having the space now, to have a document pulled up and take notes in another window will be great. I have been using mine casually today for surfing and reading comic books, and so far comics on this thing are incredible. The Air 2 might be closer to comic size, but I feel all my comics are 54 Page Giant special issues. I would recommend a good set of wireless head phones for personal viewing/listening. A wired headset on this huge tablet might cause you some problems.

Nice!

I prefer Tiny Scanner, by the way :)

Glad you're enjoying your new device.

My one's due for delivery tomorrow, but I think it may arrive today (gotta love that "Parcel" app!).

Enjoy, buddy ...

mine is literally for home / fun consumption.

Yeah its a lot of money when it wont be earning me any but hey were all entitled to treat ourselves from time to time!

I do wish it ran OSX though and was thinking of getting a SP4 instead but its just not as smooth tablet experience as the iPad and thats how it would be used the majority of the time.

If apple ever came out with a SP version that had usb and OSX id be all over it!

Web surfing - iPad pro probably wins there, but both are pretty good. But the Edge browser needs work, it desperately needs gesture support for back etc.

Media consumption - maybe again the iPad sneaks a lead as the apps are quick to switch to and do what you need? SP4 has more window management if you're running the desktop apps, but split screen or PiP might be enough on iPad.

RDC I use my iPad Air for that, and touch for the mouse is ok (I don't use direct touch, I use the mode where you move the mouse by touch but the pointer isn't where your finger is). A larger screen is always welcome for that. But I wish they had mouse support - especially if you're using it propped up on a stand with a physical keyboard.

Generally I just find for most of what you describe and iPad is fast and easy. A SP3 (my only experience so far, don't have a 4) is great as a laptop, but not so great as a tablet. And the iPad is great as a tablet and not so great as a laptop (can't believe they didn't add mouse/trackpad support for the pro). So you have to balance what you use it for and which mode tablet/PC is most important to you, and what compromises you can live with in the less optimised mode.

there doesn't seem anything fundamental that the pro can do that the air 2 can't (except size and pencil and if you want/need a pencil you're probably already sold on it).

What will I use an iPad "Pro" for?
One can always use it as a bad example of what a computer company could do with their resources.

Don't waste you money on it. For that amount of money you can get a more functional laptop. The iPad Pro is just a toy.

I just want it to replace my notebook. I"m a big writer and I have moleskin notebooks now but I have always dreamed of going paperless. I thought i was getting there with the surface, but it didn't feel right.

I'm hoping to try one more time with the pencil. Also, I'm going to use this IPAD PRO with my DJI Phantom 3 Copter. It's going to rule once I can get new mounts to support the bigger Ipad.

If you have the money to buy the best "toys" ... #JustDoIt ;-)

#OneLife
How many times can you buy the same toy? This is like those figure collectors that buy twenty copies of the same action figure just because each one has a different paint job on it. Same toy. Different paint. No extra functionality or use from it.
