Mine should arive within a day or so (128 gb space grey wifi) and while im furrious i wont have the pencil on the same day, the primary reason why i bought it is for drawing and artwork. I adore the creative process, ive been a decent sketch artist my whole life, but i abosolutley hate drawing on pen and paper. i mess up once, and i crumple it up and throw it all out.

Ive been dreaming about doing digital artwork for decades now and everything i tried had great promesses, poor execution or just way beyond my price range. I used a wacom bamboo and it worked fine, but it was such a awkard feeling drawing blind as it were, looking at a seperate screen while using my hand eleseware to draw.

I would almost kill for a wacom cintiq (the 27qhd touch one with that stand) but thats close to 4000 bucks, is permently attached to a computer to function, and not remotely portable and i cant simply afford that.

For 1/4th the price (with stand and taxes) i can get a full fledge ipad pro (ive used ipads since the begining and the past 3 years ive used the mini line and the moment i got the 6plus the mini 2 started to collect dust) and this ive been dreaming about since the first ipad.

I really hope it lives up to expectations, because frankly it took me a year to save up for both this and my imac 5k (2014 model, its still amazing to look at) and the imac i have no regrets what so ever and hoping the same with the ipad pro, and the only way i would even consiter getting something elese would be the next model that adds 3d touch built into the screen, and thats it.

My attitude is its my money so I'll spend it on what I want, not what someone on the Internet says I should.

Likewise if I wanted to buy 10 iPad pros that's my business no one else's.

I don't see a need to justify why I'm buying something. I'm an electrician so have no work use for an iPad pro but hey I want one!

I would love to be able to draw! I even struggle drawing a stick man!

Hope the iPad works out for you:)

How many times can you buy the same toy? This is like those figure collectors that buy twenty copies of the same action figure just because each one has a different paint job on it. Same toy. Different paint. No extra functionality or use from it.

I'm coming from an iPad 4.

Thus:

* Bigger

* Faster

* Smoother

* Better screen

* Can run iOS 9 without LAG & STUTTER

* Will allow me to enjoy functions like PIP & Slide Over, which my iOS 8.4 iPad 4 cannot

Please tell me ... how on earth is it the same toy?

Seriously, go back & rethink.

On a second note: Love it, or leave it. The Apple Watch is not for me, but I'm not hanging about in the dedicated forum & saying how it's not for me?

One word will sum up all that you are feeling right now: Jealousy.

/discussion.

I will be using it (as I always have) for music production.
I don't really care about Pencil or keyboard cover.
Got iPad Pro 128GB, LTE in space grey, with front and back case, and so far laving it :)

You got the same as me, albeit mine is Silver.

Arriving TOOOOOOOOO-day, if you please!

Come on, excite me a bit more ... exactly what are you loving about it?

I'm slightly confused...if anyone is serious about drawing, why would you purchase an £800 machine when it isn't as good as two things that together cost about 10p; a pencil and a sheet of paper.

It would be confusing to you, fella.

You're a Charlton supporter ;-)

Web surfing, drawing and note taking.

Said like someone who has never created art before. I spent $1000+ on materials alone for 3 months worth.

Mostly reading PDF text books and writing, but I will be surfing the web on it a lot too. Not much video consumption since I do that when I'm at home on my Apple TV.

My wife is an artist and materials are a big cost. Not that an iPad reduces these but she sees it as a compliment to traditional drawing. She sells prints of drawings/paintings done on the iPad. Look up David Hockney to see a long established artist using an iPad for painting.

I'm using mine mostly for media comsumption with the primary driver for purchase being comics, comixology on this thing is amazing!

Aside from comics, i hope to finally make the switch from paper notepads to electronic notes in Evernote, I used to do this with air but the screen size was simply not big enough.

I also can't wait for my pencil to arrive so I can start sketching procreate on the train etc.

Don't waste you money on it. For that amount of money you can get a more functional laptop. The iPad Pro is just a toy.

What is 'more functional' though? If what I want to do is mostly achievable on an iPad now - web/email/office apps/photo editing - and the overall experience of doing that is smoother and easier on an iPad, then why not get an iPad instead?

Yes technically a surface pro 4 or other ultrabook in that price range has a 'proper' OS, but the touch experience is way behind an iPad and the MS App Store is very poor at the moment compared to iOS. Conversely the iPad is rubbish with a mouse and keyboard, partly because it doesn't even support a mouse. But the keyboard use isn't great either (eg space bar doesn't scroll one page in Safari, it scrolls a page and a half which is useless)

So whether an iPad or laptop is more useful to a particular person will depend ownat they want to do with it, and how they like to do it.

Mine isn't shipping for days but in my short time with a display unit the thing that stood out to me was web browsing in portrait mode.
It was like holding a giant color advertisement. Really cool.

I stand corrected. Apparently, I'll be using it as a $1,000 cat bed.

Myself, the iPad Pro is replacing my iPad 4 for everyday use:

Browsing the web

YouTube

Netflix

News

Etc ...

I may look for a drawing course, as this device has inspired me learn how to draw.

But basically, I will not be using it in any kind of professional/work capacity.

What will you be using your iPad Pro for?

I plan to use this 90% of the time for my sketching and design work, (I'm tired of killing so many trees.) ;)
I also use it for TONS of notes I write.... then for watching videos, the CW App, YouTube, Safari, Netflix, Xfinity TV, and listening to music since the speakers are essentially the best Apple has ever made. I'll use this sucker for every purpose it was made for... otherwise it was a waste of $1000 *gulp, I'm still hurting from this purchase. I think I might still have enough money to buy some saltine crackers and peanut butter. Lol.

Kallum.

Ha ha... Not all paper is cheap, especially counting how much I've used in the past 25+ years, but more recently the past few years buying higher grade oil pencils to finish just one poster was around $150-200 I think. Add that up with all the thousands of more drawings, posters, and everything in between and it's enough to buy one hundred 128GB iPad Pros.
... The Main reason though, Having everything digital means I don't have to murder more trees. ;)

To compliment my 2009 macbook, it is getting slow even for research. My idea is to use this as a means to:
  1. Do my LLM homework/research.
  2. Create blog posts.
  3. Edit my photos (this would still be shared on some extend with my mac)
  4. Drawing / sketching
  5. Media consumption
  6. Some games
  7. Compliment my macbook pro 2009 and my ipad 2.
I plan on turning my ipad 2 into an e-reader by leaving the books and kindle apps and maybe some social network apps. (My main gripe with my ipad was getting the 16gb version, this wont happen again)

Would like to use the pencil. that's the only reason i bought the iPad pro. I have the 15" MBP so I need tablet only.
But way to go Apple no pencil at the Apple store at the opening . The sell person said that they were surprised too.
my point is if my pencil not come on time for me to use it this iPad is going back to the Apple store.
Don't know what going on lately with Apple?
