The same boring icon layout finally pushed me to Android when the 6S model was announced. Android is every bit as stable as iOS in my experience. I took the time to learn it, so I am now proficient at both iOS and Android.

People that go back to Apple after one day with Android do not take the time to learn it.

Yes, exactly. I watched hours of tutorials and read lots of forums, and now I feel that I am fairly Android (Samsung) proficient. Still finding cool things just about every day.

I left for Android last year to go from a 6s Plus to a S7 Edge

Phone wise the S7 Edge is the best phone I have used

However I missed iOS, I missed simple things like iMessage, I missed the care and support Apple offers. Had an issue with Samsung who refused to replace my device, and my nearest store is about 45 mins away. I pass about 3/4 Apple stores en route

So for device only the S7 Edge was an amazing phone

For the OS and support - which for me is more important, Apple win hands down

If my iPhone 8 Plus is recalled due to battery concerns. I'd get a refund and buy a Pixel 2XL...

Nothing would make me leave Apple for Android. Why would I want to give up Apples smooth, extremely secure system for a very fractious, unsecure Android system?

I understand that there are people who like to play with, and tweak their operating systems. Just as there are people who like to play with their automobile engines to get that last bit of horsepower out of it or get another decibel of sound out of exhaust system. That’s not me, I own my vehicle just to get me from point A to point B as expeditiously as possible. I like Apple’s “walled garden” concept that just allows me to just do what I want as simply as possibly.

If a leader promise you for giving you comfortable living, but you are banned to speak anything against him, what would you do.

I dislike walled garden, not willing to lock myself into a ecosystem.

Apple is getting lot greedier. Take iPhone 8 for example, you need spend extra 70 dollars for the fast charger and cable with. Who else not included a fast charge charger in the box? Only Apple.

So F Apple. I am not looking back.

iMessage available on Android.
Regular free software updates same as iOS.
Full iCloud access with Photos etc.
2-step verification

For me:
WeChat is on Android, regular grew software update on my Nexus phone, Full Google Photo access with unlimited storage and 2 step verification for Google Accounts.

Hands down, Android has all. Not miss iMessage. First thing I do with iPhone is disabled iMessage and iCloud.

- Tighter control on the app store apps
- not having to need a virus and malware scanner
- Better UI
- More privacy protection
- more solid construction.
- original ideas about design en UI, not just copy/paste
- no bloatware.

There is no need for virus or malware scanner. You just need apply a common sense and choice your installation package wisely. Absolutely no virus or malware on my Android phones for years.

Android had better UI than iOS. I cannot live without the back button. This is absolutely essential for me.

There are lots of Android phone offers better construction than iPhone.

Android offers ability to customer the UI for yourself. You can have original UI design or apply a theme that suitable for you

There are lots of phone that had no bloateware. There are lots of bloat on iPhone as well, for example, that Tips app or that Watch App.

I think you make a valid point here. There are those who want to experience android, but their expectations are set so high with iOS, they don't give it long enough of an adaptation phase to fully appreciate everything android has to offer.
