Absolutely nothing. Have tried to go back a few times, each time a colossal waste of time and money.

Now, if there was a new Windows Phone...

Only if Android phones started running iOS. But then they'd cease to be Android phones lol

And again Apple outdo them with phone design anyway. iPhone X best phone design since the iPhone 4

If I would be sure to recieve OS updates for more then 2 years. Not only minor security updates but the whole OS experience apart from the usual stuff which older phones cannot recieve due to hardware limitations.
If Android OS would provide better and stronger personal privacy and security for my files.

If I leave, I will inform you guys on whether I like the other side or not. :)
(The Gear S3 Frontier is making me want to more than anything. :D)

I've already pretty much done this. It began with the iPhone 5. I skipped that and bought my first Android phone, the Nexus 4. I bought the iPhone 5S and then skipped the 6 and bought a Note 4 and a Note Edge that January.
the Next year I bought a Note 5 along with the 6S and 6S+. Next I skipped the 7 and bought a few S7 Edge phones and this year, I skipped the 8 and bought a S8+ and a Note 8.

The last iPhones I bought were the 6S, 6S+ and the SE. I don't plan on buying another iPhone ever again. I just don't miss it and for me, the excitement has been gone for several years. My iPads have also been sitting in a drawer for the past several months, one of them, an iPad Pro that I bought in February.

It’s not exciting but it works and works well. The Samsung seems to bit a exciting presently and I just hope it works as well.
You like s8+ and Note 8?

iMessage available on Android.
Regular free software updates same as iOS.
Full iCloud access with Photos etc.
2-step verification

2 step verification is absolutely terrible.
I get the fact of security, but if you’re missing your other device as well then you’ll have a big headache.
Hence you have iPad and phone and both get stolen/lost... you go buy new phone then how’s the verification going to work w/o a long drawn out process.
No thanks.

The only device I'd switch to would be the Pixel XL or Ultra Pixel from Google, based on rumors the Ultra Pixel is supposed to be the big dog that will compete with the Note 8 and iPhone X. I'm pretty excited to see what they're offering, I'm still within my 14 day return policy on my 8+ so let's see what Google has to offer!

- Tighter control on the app store apps
- not having to need a virus and malware scanner
- Better UI
- More privacy protection
- more solid construction.
- original ideas about design en UI, not just copy/paste
- no bloatware.

I'd probably go back if there was an Android that:
  • Had updates on time
  • Wireless charging
  • A great OLED display
  • A smartwatch I could get that actually had a good app situation and still felt supported
  • Great camera
  • Battery life that isn't somehow worse than my iPhone despite having a bigger battery
  • Bonus: a decent Android tablet to come out so I could have the same OS on both my devices
Honestly I don't think those are really huge things to ask for but I guess I'm wrong since there isn't a device out there that satisfies everything. The Pixels are close but they lack wireless charging and the Android Wear situation is still pretty bad. Samsung phones come close as well but updates for them suck and the app situation for their smartwatches is just sad.

Of course it seems like my bonus point will never happen again either as it seems like Google and manufacturers have totally given up on Android tablets.

To me, the problem isn’t Android itself. Android is great. The problem is all the modifications made to Android by smartphone manufacturers. They all want their own little special snowflake version of Android which they won’t update for more than a year or so after release. So you basically have to buy a new phone every year or root it if you want to stay up to date. Did I hear someone mention the Pixel? Oh, well... guess what? Google doesn’t want to do business in my country. It’s not sold by Google and it’s not sold by any carriers. There are a couple of places online where I can get it, but it’s basically an imported UK version and they charge extra for that. Not really an option. Until that changes, I’m willing to put up with more than I would normally be willing to accept... not out of loyalty, but because the alternative still isn’t as good as what Apple is offering.

Virtually nothing in the near term future. I'm even buying the awful notch on the X when it is released. That's how engulfed I am in this ecosystem.

I have a Macbook Pro, iPad, iPhone, Apple watch, Apple TV and AirPods.

Even if Samsung did release a phone that completely demolished the iPhone (which it has not done so, yet), I still would not be able to switch over without losing some of the conveniences of having everything sync across all my devices. Same with any other device I own.

I can see maybe replacing some of the peripheral accessories like the watch or the AirPods. But the core products like the MBP and iPhone would be very hard for me to give up.

The one thing that really emphasizes how deeply I am integrated is being able to copy something on my Macbook Pro, and paste it on my iPad or iPhone seamlessly (well, when it does work).

Having my Notes and Messages synced on every device is priceless.

Not only that, but now my photo library is all on iCloud, and as the years go on and my memories accrue on that service, I think I will be less and less likely to try to migrate it over to Google or some other service.

That's what Warren Buffet meant by describing Apple as "sticky." They are literally managing my memories at this point.

That’s if you like/value that synchronization.

What's funny (not trying to be rude) is wireless charging just got introduced on iPhones. So kind of shocked you mentioned wireless charging as a must have. Its like last year when slot of members here knocked the pixel because it wasn't waterproof. However the iphone wasn't waterproof until the iphone 7 and it wasn't an issue then.

Also you mentioned OLED screen. Why didn't wireless charging and oled screen deter you from getting an iphone since it does when getting an android?

The note 8 did in one sense. I got it for my second phone this year rather than the iphone 8 or X

I think the Note 8 is an impressive device. One thing that really intrigues me and thar I have always appreciated, is that has a built in stylus with the S-Pen, which has some nice capabilities.

I can put up with no headphone jack. There's very little that Apple can do on their design to switch to Android except one, and that's eliminating the physical connection for charging and data. I could see Apple going to a totally wireless setup, where you would have to use iCloud to backup or restore your phone. Thanks but no thanks, I'm not about ready to fork more money over to Apple for a 50 or 200 GB data plan.

After 10 years with an iPhone, I went to a Note 8 three weeks ago and love it. What finally changed my mind was the boring, non-inspirational updates by Apple, year-after-year. I don't care about face recognition or a slightly better camera. I want my phone to make my work day easier and more productive. In that regard, the Note 8 has been a breath of fresh air, and I do not even like going back to my iPhone. Just feels constrained now.

At this point I can't see myself leaving Apple. I even tried an S7 edge out alongside my 6S plus for a month. I ended up selling the edge and the 7 plus is pre-ordered. I have too many apple products now and I'm too invested in the ecosystem to move to an android phone. Back in 2012 I went over to android after my iPhone 4 was stolen. Back then it was just a phone so switching wasn't a big deal. Now it's an ecosystem.

I have been in the Apple ecosystem for more than 10 years and have not had trouble switching to Android. There are plenty of very good alternatives to Apple's cloud. The biggest test for me now will be moving to a Surface Pro from my MacBook Pro after close to 15 years with an Apple computer as my main computer. Loaded Surface arrived today, so we'll see how that goes. Next to go is my iPad once I can get a Samsung tablet that has AT&T LTE. There is life beyond Apple, and that's coming from a former Apple evangelist.

The same boring icon layout finally pushed me to Android when the 6S model was announced. Android is every bit as stable as iOS in my experience. I took the time to learn it, so I am now proficient at both iOS and Android.

People that go back to Apple after one day with Android do not take the time to learn it.
