I think the thread starter meant "iPhone 4G".

I had to be PC so I could avoid replies that talked about the 4G va HD conundrum. I could've said 4th Gen iPhone, but I didn't.
It's the HD, unless they stupidly give it 4g support with no network to back it up lol.

Try to get a hold of Steve and ask him to personally come to my house and get it, or get me a flight to his office, and I'd personally give it to him. I wouldn't tell anymore about the phone, so if I did get a hold of Steve, he might be willing to give me a new laptop. :D

If I would have found it (not stolen it like some outlets are reporting), I would have turned it on and looked to see who's it was. Then I would do a double-take when I saw the front facing camera. Then I would take it out of the case and blew a wad in my pants. Then I would have played with it some more. Finally, I would have contacted Gizmodo and sold it to them for $10,000.

Excellent post! Made me laugh!

I can't deny that I will take many pictures and a video of the device, but there's no way I'll try to sell it.

I would have done the same exact thing the dude did... I would consider that phone I found a fair trade from apple for the MacBook pro that broke on me within a year and apple deny repair... I'm still bitter as hell about that... 2000 dollars I didn't need

I would write a mail to Steve with some pictures and the text: Not to worry!

LOL that's great, classic!
Maby keep it more inline with the SJobs style, and say like: Chill.
He's a fan of one liners.

I would have returned it to Apple. Any gain from doing something else would be short term, and it would probably be superseded by severe consequences (as we will probably see in the coming weeks, months, and possibly years).

same thing I tend to do if I find a random cell phone. I look threw the contact for a home number and I will call that.

If it was face book I would of tried to contact him that way.

what I would have done...

What I would have done is taken lots and lots of pictures, sold them for a tidy sum and mailed it back to Apple without a return address with a note saying: Thanks for the heads up Steve, next time answer MY email! ;)

Honestly, I'm too oblivious. I probably would have noted it was an iphone and returned it to the bartender. I probably would have tried to see if I could call the person or some one who knew him first to say I had his phone (and maybe ask them if htey wanted me to leave it with the bartender or how they wanted me to return it).

If I had noticed the front camera first I would have been all like, wow, wierd... and all curious. Still turn it in and then try to look up on the internet to see what it might have been (I don't think it would actually occur to me that I'd have some new prototype in my hand honestly). Might even post on a few apple forums asking people if they'd ever seen/heard of such a thing.

If for some reason it did occur to me that I had a prototype (and I really don't think it would, I tend to take things for granted), I might actually try to return it to Apple myself and hope that maybe they'd give me a reward (I might even be brave enough to ask if there is a reward for it but I'd give it back regardless).

Now that we know how crafty Apple is, I would:

- Place the phone in Airplane Mode
- Not connect it to iTunes (until well after the official release)

It doesn't matter, Apple would hunt me down and kill me. As it would any of you. And then it would replace me with an exact duplicate of me except for the molecular teflon coating so I didn't get dirty.

If I found it I'd come here and tell you that its not called that :D
I think Apple will call it the iPhone 4 or simply just the iPhone. They didnt want the 3G to be called that, it was users that made it that way. Apple used to call it the iPhone with 3G. They should just call it the iPhone, its the only product that has a new name with every generation

Leak whole bunch very distorted yet purposely photoshopped images of the phone to my website full of ads.

I would have done the right thing and e-mailed Stevejobs with pics of the phone and told him to come pick it up. This way my karma can be good.
