I saw a black x1 a few days ago and I really liked it.:)

but I 'd want it as hybrid.

If i have the money to afford the Tesla S when its released next year, i'd love to get one. The Roadster is just to expensive for me to spend on a car.

Contrary to my username, my choice of a next (and first) car would be anything that can get from point A to point B, without needing costly repairs once a month.

I have a 2009 VW Golf GTI which I love so I have no intention of getting rid of it anytime soon (2 more years of payments and then I want to have several years of no car payment), but if I had to buy another car, I think it might come down to a Hyundai Genesis Coupe or 370Z. I'd at least test drive each of them and give both a serious look.

Here's my choice right now:

2011 Hyundai Elantra sedan (North American market model):

The 2011 Elantra gets excellent fuel economy and sports a very good six-speed automatic. I even like the front dash, which is very cleanly styled as you can see from this picture:

A Subaru Forester XT. It'll have to look something like this (but I'd strongly prefer for it to be matte white)

Of course, the underlying reality to all this is that the worldwide economy is built on oil. And it remains to be seen how much of a fight old money will put up.

You do know that only 38% of a barrel of oil is used for fuel, right ? Plastics, nylon, rayon, solvents, lubracants, insulation (styrofoam), that Starland Vocal Band Greatest Hit CD you have, all start life as crude oil.

Edit: Almost forgot, early second generation 455 Trans Am.

Next car is likely a 2008-2009 C-class later this year/early next year, but that's for the wife.

After that it will be my turn, and I'll probably be in the $25k bracket in 3 years or so. You can get a lot of car for $25k.

I'd be looking at (all used, a few years old):

--370Z
--G37 Coupe
--3 series coupe
--Z4 (bit of a stretch, would have to be a 2009+ for the retractable hardtop for winter, not going to put a soft top through winter)
--A5 coupe (hard to say where the prices will be given how new they are, but probably a stretch as much if not more than the Z4)
--Challenger R/T
--Mustang (2011+ with the 5.0)

Although, I'd feel quite bad using a Challenger/Mustang as a year-round daily driver; doesn't feel right to put a muscle car through salt/daily driving (not worried about the power level and fat tires, have only ever had rear wheel drive anyway, feels safer in the snow/ice IMO), more designed to be a weekend summer toy really. The other thing is that I've had two BMWs out of warranty, and that's not really somewhere I'd like to go again. I'd rather not go there with the C-class, but it's what the wife likes so if we can get a low mile one that's certified, maybe we will be ok for a while).

My next toy though, will be a '68 Charger R/T, possibly even with a real-deal Hemi if the cards play out.

After driving a minivan for the last 11 years, I'm looking forward to something that is not a minivan. Still have a few years to go yet, however.

Same here, except only a few days. I'm picking up my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander later this week! It's a competitor of the Forrester, CR-V, Rav4, Escape/Tribute, etc. The Outlander is only 6 inches shorter (length, not height) and 1 inch narrower than the '99 Oldsmobile van it's replacing. But with a 4 cyl. instead of 6, I'll get better economy on gas.

Happy with my 31 year old - styling, driving, and easy to work on - but if I had to go modern, it'd be 2 cars; Alfa Romeo 4C and Fiat Panda:

Cheers,
OW

1987 Ford Bronco (Eddie Bauer Edition). Blue body with tan shell.

It's what I drove in high school. I loved that car. I miss the rust.

Ugh, the X6 has to be the ugliest thing BMW has ever created. Whoever designed that thing (along with the E90 3 series) needs to be shot. I really think that the design quality from BMW has gone down over the past 5-7 years; I think the E36 & E46 designs are some of the best looking cars in history.

As for my next car, I'd really like a MINI Cooper S. Although that won't happen for a good 6 years; seeing as I want my '03 Accord that I got last year to last through college and at least half of med school.

Considering I have no idea how much money I'll have available to spend on my next car, and that I'm probably only halfway through the life cycle on my current car, I could be looking at a super-sweet sports sedan with AWD (hopefully selectable for fuel efficiency reasons), or a beat up 1.4l rust bucket.

I'm all for it. The more people who buy into electric, the more gas is left on the planet for me.
:D

The Model S *might* hit the similar cost point. We'll have to see how it all works out when they actually deliver a car. The Roadster certainly doesn't come close to that point on paper.

Let's look at it versus the Lotus Elise and plug in some ridiculously conservative figures so we can be certain:

$101500 Tesla Roadster MSRP - $51845 Lotus Elise MSRP = $49655 difference
$49655 saved / $5 gallon = 9931 gallons (let's assume gas costs another $1)
9931 gallons x 20 mpg = 198620 miles (let's assume a "spirited driver")
198620 miles / 15000 miles/year = 13.24 years

13.24 years is the break-even point on a Tesla Roadster.

Start factoring in that the battery life is seven years or that Tesla recommends you have 3-phase service and it gets worse.

Almost, but not quite there yet.
I'd get a Karma over the Tesla S anyway.
No joke I want to buy a delorean and convert it into replica of the time machine from back to the future. Even tho the company went under like 50 years ago they still Sell them for $ 40,000. So one day one day....

DeLorean didn't even exist until the late 1970's

I've had a chrysler 300c for 5 years now, it's a beautiful car and I'd be hard pressed to trade it for anything right now.

Maybe a new charger srt8? I hate what they did to the 300. If I didn't have family to carry around I'd consider a Challenger lol.

When I get out of college and find some decent employment I'll look into a BMW, but I'd rather have an Audi. >> S5s are nice.
