Seriously, Apple, let us FaceID-protect Hidden Photos!

Don't be stupid!

Also, it's almost 2020, and Mail app still doesn't sync iCloud read status from macOS to iOS. What the hell!! iOS-to-macOS syncs just fine, but not macOS-to-iOS. Get your **** together!

Pedophiles may find this functionality extremely useful, but FaceID takes around 1.5 seconds to unlock. Better to keep your porn is a separate album.

They can keep it. Useless.

I’ve never been so disappointed to see an announced feature in practice as I was with Shortcuts automations. Massive letdown.
No, definitely not. In the short time it was available I discovered that it finally made Shortcuts itself not worthless, for the first time since its inception.

That’s actually more about iCloud than iOS — for whatever reason Apple has chosen to only send push notifications from iCloud.com for new messages and not for other inbox changes.

I hacked together a solution several years ago on my own OS X Mail Server that gave me full reconciliation of mailbox changes — not only read status, but even flags and moved messages — simply by writing a utility that would trigger push notifications on demand and then monitoring the Inbox folder for any changes — and that was back in the days of iOS 5.

In the past couple of years, some mail providers like FastMail have also addressed this in their own implementations of iOS Mail push notifications, which ironically they said Apple helped them to develop. FastMail not only provides full reconciliation of the inbox, but allows you to push from other mail folders too, which has been supported in iOS since around iOS 7 or 8 (and in fact, if you add a folder to the top list of favourites in Mail app on iOS, it’s automatically enabled for push).

So it’s actually pretty ridiculous that iCloud hasn’t gained this capability as well, but that’s on Apple’s iCloud engineering team.

a stolen phone would already require authentication. What’s the use case for locking photos. You authenticate your phone and hand it to someone

What if a good friend, colleague does this, send a photo to their own email/message if you just give your iPhone to them for other purposes.

The fact that I couldn't tell Shortcuts to run a shortcut automatically at a set time every day, without my interaction, simply astounded me.

If I have to run an automation from a notification, is it automation at all? No, not really. It's just a glorified reminder at that point.

You didn't try very hard because of course that is possible, and was possible (despite buggy) in the early betas.

Slide over specifically with Messages on an 11" Ipad Pro is broken, the app is just grey, as well as in split view.

Man, how annoying. If you haven't already, I'd suggest sending this feedback to Apple! https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

hilarious! why use the Feedback App when you can tweet their Executive team on such a niche enquiry on a minor feature ...
Not everyone here is a registered developer. Clearly he isn’t. Why else would he be asking that question here? So no. No Feedback App for him.

I've just tried it as a test and it works fine. Syncs both ways.
Can you lay out how you performed your test?
I'm 100% certain he did not test it properly. Apple themselves explicitly state that iCloud does not push any changes (except for the initial arrival of new mail) to iOS whatsoever. Would you really believe his "claim" that contradicts Apple's? That's like Apple saying that iPhone can't fold your laundry, and one person claiming it can.

I've spoken to numerous people on here as well as on Apple Discussions who claim that it "works for them", and it turns out that some of them simply lied and others did not test correctly.

Unless he can post a video shot on a separate camera of both his Mac and iPhone/iPad during the test, I'll consider his "claim" false/untrue.

Not sure if this was there in earlier betas, but you can use the 3 finger copy/paste in iOS as well (not just iPadOS)

Both my iPhone and iPad are on beta 6, but it’s not detecting beta 7 for update. Can someone plz help?

Are you a developer?
No but I signed up for it and installed the profile today and was able to install the beta 6. When I got to settings>General>Software Update and it doesn’t detect that there is a new update. Just states iOS 13 Your software is up to date.

Am I missing something here?

One new feature may be "Save to Files". You can save and name a file or picture to iCloud or on your phone.

Reminders has a "Remind me at a location" setting. Currently the alarm when you get to your chosen location is just a notification. There needs to be an option for continuous vibration or sound for the alarm. When the phone is in my jacket pocket and I get to the location, continuous vibrations is a better alarm. Choosing a location from the map could be better. Currently we can only input a specific address. You can't move around the map to find a location.

When I am looking at a picture (or video) in the photo app I still can't see all information about the picture. When I swipe up I would like to see (and change) the file name, file size (with option to reduce size), when and where picture was shot, and perhaps current weather conditions at the moment the picture was taken. Adding/appending notes to a picture (or video) file could also be an excellent feature.

If I took a bunch of pictures it would be cool to see the pictures on the map in a 'timeline way'.

In the phone app why is the speakerphone toggle still not in the keypad view? You have to "hide" the keypad view to get back to the speakerphone toggle. There should also be a notepad toggle in the phone app. When I am on a call I often get information I need to quickly write-down.

Give us the option to say "Siri" instead of "Hey Siri". Constantly saying "Hey Siri" can be annoying.

Use Guided Access when handing over your iPhone, this locks the iPhone to the app/task they should have access to and disable the rest.
Then if they want to exit Guided Access (do something else / exit app) they have to use FaceID or enter passcode.
