I never have that. Luckily I’m using 24 hours format I guess. I just type 1300 and it is correct at 13:00. Have never stuck like that before.

I prefer to use the quarter before / past but Siri gets confused. I can’t easily do it in the app either. What’s so hard about understanding “hey Siri, set an alarm for a quarter before five fourty-five am”?

You meant a quarter before six? I can see why Siri will get confused.
She understand me perfectly though when I said Reminds me at Five Forty Five. She even knows should it be a morning or afternoon. For example if I told her like that at 1 in the afternoon she will set it at 17:45 (Remember, I’m using 24 hours format so if she mistake it for 5:45 in the morning it will still be understandable but she doesn’t).

I'm still missing the App search feature from PULL DOWN then type in the app name ... only Siri, websearch, news, etc. populating ... no Apps being listed to launch ...

the last print screen is the APP LIBRARY search (which works) ...

‘you have to completely reset and erase iPhone/iPad and start fresh
I had the same issue and today after imstalling beta 6 I did a fresh install and the app search returned! Finally!

also people can now use Siri and interact with the background.... I can’t - it dismisses Siri like it always has, but for some they enabled it (as they said they could) so that it doesn’t and I’m not sure how or why I don’t have it!

(I kept trying and I got it to kinda work but it’s so not working the way it should, it only does it so,etc,es and requires you to like hold the area it’s weird)

I wonder if they are going to allow us to change our default mail and internet browser apps during the Beta.

It will only happen once third party developers release the apps with this iOS14 API - which can't happen before iOS14 goes live.

If you happen to be a beta tester for a third party e-mail app or browser, you might have this feature now (same as some apps already are testing widgets, but you need special access to these via TestFlight or something like that).

Now on compatible wireless chargers the light changes status at the end of the charge. This was only done by phones like Samsung, in this beta iPhone as well. In mine was always orange turns green.

The alarm clock Time Picker Design, the time set is the most important UI element on the alarm set screen and it’s the same size as all other elements, adding an orange box around it doesn't help, especially as this isn't a common UI feature of iOS. This UI needs to be much bigger, similar to the count down timer.

Disappointed Apple is playing with UI design this close to launch.

Not sure why the below design doesn't work, it's the same as the original just add the option for people to type in the time who want to (it behaves like a 1990s cash register...)

That spatial audio function sounds really weird. Why would I want the sound to appear like it's coming from my phone instead of playing directly into my skull as usual?

You wouldn't. That's an accessibility feature. Spatial audio moves with your head depending on where the original target in relation to the screen and your ears is positioned. This might not bode well for some disabilities so the option is to lock that to the phone screen so they don't get confused.

Gives you the illusion of full atmos surround sound in your airpods pro when watching tv/movies.

It's not even just that though - the speakers have a set position in time and space, if you turn your head to the left the audio doesn't follow you like it would know, it would stay in front of you, like it would if you were listening to actual speakers in a cinema.

It's not just the emulation of surround sound - it's the implementation of the use of accelerometers on the Airpod Pros and the iOS device you're looking at - this is the key difference.

This is very much an American English issue, confused me when I live there. UK & Ireland say "quarter to six" for 5:45, and say "quarter past six" for 6:15.

for me , i prefer saying quarter to 6 rather quarter before 6 . yeah confusing.

The new way doesn’t “function” either.

Half the time I tap it the hours highlight first while the other half of the time it picks the minutes first.

Having to pay close attention and figure out whether I need to ‘type hour then type minutes’ or ‘type minutes then re-tap-hour then type-minutes’ is not a good experience.
May I correct you? If you pay a little more attention, you will notice that it matters where you tap. Tap on the left: hours are highlighted. Tap on the right: minutes are highlighted. Tap again and it will highlight both.

Like others have said: it's a slight adjustment to how we're used to, but actually it's very convenient and has lots of options to cater to everyone's needs: You can still scroll through the time, or you can directly start typing the time (1105 for example), or if you only want to change the minutes tap on them and you can start typing.

I think you should give it a second and third try, because the iOS 13 functionality is still there and the new functionality is just getting used to it.

Spatial audio will be a major let down for me if it’s not available for movies on the ATV 4K. I don’t want to watch movies on my phone.
It won't be a let down in that case:
A new Spatial Audio feature for the AirPods Pro works with the Apple TV and allows for a surround sound-like experience when wearing the earbuds.

So yes, it does work. Since I don't run the tvOS 14 beta on my one and only Apple TV 4K, I haven't tried it yet, but allegedly you can both share audio with multiple AirPods and if both you and your partner have AirPods Pro then both of you will be able to enjoy the spatial audio at the same time, based in your own position.

But... it is limited to supported titles. To me this is Apple's way of saying that only select TV+ titles will be able to handle this in the short term, but probably over time they'll request the proper audio format for titles from maybe even Netflix and such.

On spatial audio...
Supported movies and tv shows

Wouldn’t be surprised if that meant iTunes and Apple TV+ only, no third party app support.

Yep, as usual.. It could be several years before Apple allows 3rd party streaming app to feature this. Much like Siri for Spotify. So unless you only consume Apple contents, this isn't something to be excited about.

Have you tried to go to your phone's Settings > Siri & Search.
Then scroll down to YouTube and turn on all of those options?

Did they fix not being able to see favorites with long press on the phone app? I'm really hoping this was just an omission and not a permanent downgrade.

No, I mean a quarter before five fourty-five, or 5:30. You can use the quarter phrase at any point and not just the hour.

They haven't said a thing about it being limited to their content. So as of right now we don't really know.

Do people use POI features all that much in reality? Just curious. I can’t ever say I have used carplay or maps to find a petrol station, or find a coffee shop or a place for a feed. In the back of my mind I would always think the map service would be directing me to someone who has paid for priority in the search function.

I mean, yes they are selling points, but I am curious how much people actually use these kind of features on a daily basis.

I use POI searches all the time, but what I really need is the ability to download maps/POI like with google maps, I travel through places without a network connection regularly. It would also be great if Apple bought or integrated the GasBuddy app into Maps. My vehicle is diesel and in the States less than half of stations have diesel. GasBuddy is great to find the cheapest diesel along the route I'm taking - if I have service.

I understand all of that but it's impossible to actual control since there are two targets in an incredibly tiny space. I can't think of anywhere else in iOS where there are two different buttons in a space that size.

My point was that, even knowing why it happens, you can't guess WHICH way it's going to choose, which means it's a guessing game that slows you down, every time.

The other poster who pointed out that I don't have to tap the time at all saved the day, because there's no way to actually use that button effectively.

I never have that. Luckily I’m using 24 hours format I guess. I just type 1300 and it is correct at 13:00. Have never stuck like that before.

Someone else pointed out to me that I don't need to tap the time at all to type. I am guessing you are already doing it that way and it seems to be the right method.

Technically you can, but as far as typical time usage goes that doesn't seem to be something that's really used, let alone common. Typically "half past" is what gets used for something like that.

Right. And there is no reason it can't be used on any time. So half past 3:17 is fine for 3:47. All legitimate ways people say the time.
