Camera:
Be able to choose which camera is used and to set the focus so it can be used with microscopes and telescopes

iPad:
Guest account so I can hand off my device for others to use.
Better Files app to be more like MacOS. It’s gotten better but I want more.

Phone app that allows correcting a mistyped number!
Force Touch (or whatever name they put after they removed it) to quickly call a contact from the phone app.
Wakeup Alarm that plays a Spotify playlist in random! Or some radio station!!!!!

I just want Apple to fix all the issues they keep introducing or reintroducing in HomePod OS. I don't want any new festures, just fixes!

At the risk of everyone hating me: new UI. iOS feels stale and long in the tooth at this point. I am a senior ios engineer so I will hate having to update everything but how the UI looks significantly changes how we feel.

Siri:
- Siri that actually works and feels as competent as OpenAI's chatbot.

Mail Sorting:
- You can describe sorting methodologies to Siri, and it will group mail accordingly. This is akin to Notion mail.

Rewrite:
- You can provide custom prompts, rather than pre-defined prompts, for rewriting text.

A timer UI improvement: make it harder to accidentally pause or cancel a running tuner from the Lock Screen! Too easy now to hit the buttons (A Lock Screen should be like that - Locked!)

Move the end call button away from the swipe up area - i have cancelled too many calls by accident when i want to go to an app during a call.

Long press on an icon in control center’s communication widget - should not toggle that function, simply open the expanded view!!

Besides stability.
But to automatically enact DND or the option when you have an appointment/meeting. Just like Blackberry did.
Also a separate volume control for Alarms.

Forget about bug fixes. At this point, even if Tim Cook steps down or gets fired, I don't see Apple going any other direction than continuing to maximize share price no matter what it does to negatively impact their product lineup or quality control. The alternative is that their executives and shareholders come to terms with the stock going down or stagnating. Does anyone here see that happening?

We've seen what their plans are for iOS 19: the same stupid gimmicks they've been pulling for years now with redesigns and childish features. And their plans for iPad OS don't look much better - probably another half-baked multitasking "solution".

  • Fix Snooze in Apple Mail
  • Fix Follow-up in Apple Mail
  • Add Today favorite folder to Apple Mail (for convenience and parity with iOS)
  • Add Unread favorite folder to Apple Mail (for convenience and parity with iOS)
PLEASE

0. PRO CAMERA APP
1. Something like Samsung DeX
2. A working Siri (not necessarily ai)
3. Faster iCloud (SYNCING IS ATROCIOUSLY SLOW)
4. Folders in Apple Photos (edit: folders to move images off the feed but still in Photos without hiding them)
5. Tags in Apple Photos
6. Live lock-screen widgets (heart rate et al)
7. Less in your face Apple lock-in (make Apple better and people will use Apple)
8. More of same direction iOS has gone, but not so dmn slow
9. Better file control
10. Live widgets on homescreen

  • far better stability than iOS 18
  • far better stability than iOS 17
  • far better stability than iOS 16
Not only for the initial releases, but also for the later versions - e.g. this year and last year, the .4 release was a real mess.

New features? Thank you, not interested - becomes completely meaningless compared to making work properly what currently doesn't...

I'd like to have integrated ad blockers. The way YT fires station breaks at you by the minute these days is just bizarre. I want to suppress this. I understand that ads pay for it but stupid loop repeating doesn't lead anywhere.

So many great suggestions here and I’d agree with nearly all of them.

My priorities would be basic bug fixing, stability & clarity.

Siri is an embarrassment and needs to be fixed yesterday.

Then basic UX fixes:

Have notifications clearing reflected on all your devices.

Make sleep, alarms and focus modes less confusing (why do I need to go into settings, health and the clock app to set alarms and track sleep?).

Following from this - make iOS less complex. It’s getting hard to follow what Apple has changed and where to find said changes.

However, I fear that with the rumoured major UI change we will get another iOS 11 with weird UI bugs throughout its lifecycle.

iPadOS 19 rather than iOS but simply:

Multi-user support.

iPads are expensive and the inability to sign into more than one user account is a real limiting factor for a “communal family iPad” which a lot of people use them for.

I have a few wishes

Column layout in Apple CarPlay. My Volvo’s huge screen looks ridiculous with 4x2 apps per page… on a 12” portrait screen

Warnings after setting an alarm when silent mode is set. I need to wake up.

Automatic buttons on the iPhone screen when my HomePod alarm rings. Don’t make me Hey Siri, when it’s clear what I want.

Local language street names in Apple Maps. English language is ridiculous in other countries for street names, and gets them always wrong. Also bring back the option to change the GUI language. Mine is set to German having played with the option before Apple removed it. English is my mother tongue.

Auto Apple TV remote when Apple TV is turned on on the same network. It’s clearly me, don’t make it hard to open the screen remote.

Profile saved settings, such as volume, on Apple TV and Apple CarPlay. My girlfriend has different tastes. Also the app layout on CarPlay could be much more user friendly to change, depending on who is driving

See through messaging for WhatsApp and messages, use the rear camera to let me see my way when I’m walking and typing

iPhone music app in carplay
Local languages for Maps (and more generally Siri) would be great

Just imagine when AI learns our behaviour and "forces" us, relentlessly so, to buy stuff all the time

Also add custom fields in the password app + an intuitive way to link passwords/logins/others to apps

- Universal screen edge back gesture stolen wholesale from Android.

- Control centre moved to the RH-side of the top-most app in the app switcher so you can activate it with one hand

- Notifications moved to the bottom of the app-switcher that then fan upwards on a press like on the lock screen so you can get at them with one hand

- The ability to pick which home screen page is the default.

- Fix the moving icons when swapping things around on the home screen or control centre.

- Move the full stop from the right hand side of the space bar in all keyboard screens!!

- Proper Memoji app span off from messages.

- Beeper-like way of integrating other platforms into Messages.

- Windows Phone people hub app letting you aggregate social feeds and filter by user

- Kids mode from lock screen letting you gate off certain apps and games in their own sandbox.

Agreed - this would be nice
