I wanted a Mac since the Macintosh performa 630cd in 1995. In 2019 I finally got my first Mac a 12" MacBook the year after I got my first iMac. Last year I upgrade to a m4 iMac with some money I won from the lottery when I hit daily number.

I sometimes get a big smile when I realize I'm using a Mac.

Nowadays claustrophobia and arachnophobia have me completely crippled, but it wasn't like that 50 years ago; can those be an aging thing?
Oddly, I had serious arachnophobia as a kid that isn't as bad now. Not that I like coming into contact with spiders, or that I'm a good candidate for tarantula ownership.

A lot of the problem when I was a kid was possibly caused by a favorite Nancy Drew book, The Secret of the Old Attic, which had lots of venemous spider incidents. Including Nancy Drew tied up with one such spider on the loose.

I don't like them either and still anxiously look up and around the walls in my bedroom before bed!

I was 5th grade camp cabin dad whole week. One outing we did was let a tarantula crawl up your arm.
Well, I’ve been deathly scared of them, but decided to see if could overcome it.

Did it, survived, when she got up my bicep thats when I said “enough “

Just typing this I can again feel her little legs one by one tapping on very sensitive forearm then biceps skin as she gracefully crawled up me.

And of course anyone going in the woods early morning runs in spiders ..
Many times it’s happened, here’s just 2

From a life long Mac user, way cool!!
Apple hit a home run with their iMac line, what’s your main usage with it?

We’re still using our 27” 2015 iMac i7 with 3TB internal HD, 11 years later, great longevity.

I really don't like UPS' parcel status communication. This morning I was informed that my urgently awaited parcel will be delivered today; later I got an info that "We are trying to obtain the security access our delivery driver needs for this delivery.", which is of course BS as I live at a public road. Of course UPS continues stating "Delivery today", with 0% chance this will happen. Happened before multiple times (usually when I get new Apple products, this time it's my passport with the visa for an important business trip). Edit: Passport just arrived 🥳

Been having a lot of anxiety about my planned move across the country in a couple months. Only natural I suppose, I've lived in this part of the country pretty much my entire life so it feels very nerve-wracking to be purposely leaving everything I have ever known. I have a decent amount of money saved up for the trip, but not much of a plan beyond "get there and get a job", so I reeeeally hope this works out for me. 😅

Also been thinking a bit about the countless hours I spent browsing these forums some 15-20 odd years ago as a teenager. Had a blast back then, during the late PowerPC days into the early years of the iPhone. Miss a lot of people I made friends with here who no longer seem to be around. 😞 But that's life I suppose, always changing and forcing you to adapt.

I'm sure plenty of us have stories of moving long distances. I'm 21 years old (I never mind sharing my age), and I moved from the Southwest to the Midwest to attend college. To be honest, I didn't even think about the fact I was going 1500 miles away from home, I found the whole thing to be quite exciting. Though, I will say, I don't see it to be a "permanent" move, because I often go home during summer vacation.

I don't know where I'll live after I graduate, but I'm thinking/hoping neither the Southwest nor the Midwest, so that I can explore somewhere new. That is a bit nerve-wracking actually, because I just don't know - and I'm a year or so away from graduating. I don't know what kind of job I will have, either. But I think the thing to do is just live in the moment and not worry.

And the other thing is, you should see all of this as an adventure - I think so at least. Although it's stressful, I think seeing something as an adventure always brings a positive spin on it.

Thinking of books...

I've had recent frustrations with a local library. I'd like to see one author's work, but the system prioritizes new. So all they have is a heavily.edited/updated modern version of one book.

Then there was the battle with the catalog, which feels increasing clunky, with a particularly annoying need to have search terms just right. This in an era when I hear an author name, type it into DuckDuckGo, but mangle it, since I only heard it. And yet, I get good results.

Hello,

there was a police operation in our neighborhood last night, a bit further away. I only overheard it by chance while out for a walk. I just heard a few noises, like "ouch," and a beer bottle breaking. Apparently, several teenagers had broken into the house, while these teenagers, whom I don't even know, told me that the landlord or owner had hit one of their friends and another had threatened them with a chainsaw. Then they ran off. I told them to keep quiet, consult a lawyer, and then contact the police. Even here in Germany, you can get into serious, unnecessary trouble if you don't have legal counsel or don't know what you're doing. But whether any of it is true, I don't know. Anyway, if you hear that a criminal complaint or summons will probably arrive in the mail in a few weeks, you should be prepared, if possible.
