A "practicum" is structured, documented experience in a classroom as part of an Education course, sort of like a lab in a science class. If you are looking to get teacher-certified, a specific number of hours (100 hours where I am) of "practicum" is required. I'm not looking to be certified, but looking for a way to get a little bit of teaching experience. The practicum for the class I'm enrolled in (20 hours over the course of the term) counts for 20% of the course grade. So at the end of the semester, I will turn in a document showing how many hours I did. Hopefully it will be 20, so I can get the full points.
Thank you. Best of luck with it. Teaching is never something I’ve been drawn to. Having left academia at 15, I didn’t have too many inspiring teachers. Heck I can hardly remember any of their names even now!

In other words, for 20% of the course grade, I go to a school for 20 hours over the course of the term and observe/assist.

The practicum is one component of the class - there are also readings, written assignments, and exams as in most classes.
The very best of luck with it.

Safe travels. I just drove the length of the M40 myself and sadly crawled round part of the M25. Now sat in glorious sunshine at my hotel having a nice cider. Work tomorrow though.
I drove back from Glasgow this morning and was pleasantly surprised by the light traffic. Didn't get held up at all. A 4 hour drive home. The difference between travelling up north and down south is light and day.

My first trip of the year. Next up, Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik is wonderful.

I was first there for work more than a quarter of a century ago, shortly after the war, and returned as recently as two years ago, when I was sent to the wider region for several months.

Wonderful weather this weekend and a dinner with friends is planned this evening. Problem is the trees are happy too making love in their manner and making me miserable with the pollen. My sleep has been disturbed despite antihistamine and cortisone nasal sprays ahh well.

A day - an almost endless day - of meetings, followed by a simply superlative massage that I had taken the precaution of booking three days ago, shortly after I had to cancel the massage I had booked on 13th April.

Bliss. And now, my back and shoulders feel.......relaxed, loose, and limber. Wonderful.

Just a few more hours to go until my girlfriend and I travel to the ocean to watch the sunrise over the beach! Super excited. We'll probably grab breakfast along the way, but it's up to her if we want to save it for the sunrise!

There are a number of things on my mind.

Elections, travelling, are but two of the topics flitting across my mind just now.
Safe travels.

Here I’m home again. Washed the car. Sprayed the weeds. I’ll mow later after the grass dries a bit. Going to clean the kitchen floor as Mrs AFB is at work until 2. What exciting weekends I have. The joys of being a grown up!

Good luck.

Nevertheless, notwithstanding all of the grumbling elements of adult life evoke, I think that you would still prefer being an adult (I know I would) to the state of being either a child or adolescent.

Getting ready to head to VT, in many respects not looking forward to be in the car around 8 to 10 hours (depending any side quests we undertake). We were thinking of visiting my mother, but that adds 2 more hours to the entire trip as its not really in the same direction. I feel bad, simply because I made plans to visit her today before my daughter came, but she understands.

I realise that I am utterly exhausted; yesterday's massage - which was excellent - granted me a degree of temporary (and greatly welcomed) relief.

Hpwever, it has been a challenging, at times difficult and demanding, few weeks/months; yes, it has been immensely rewarding, and, strangely up-lifting, too.

Well, it's that time of year again. My back has "gone" again. I say this time of year as last time it went was on my birthday (18th April) 2 years ago when I was in Rome. I try and do exercises to prevent it but it's hard when you're not in any pain. It usually lasts between 4 days and 2 weeks so will hopefully be OK for my trip to Dubrovnik in a couple or weeks.

I know that one only too well. I see a chiropractor every 6 weeks or so and do regular stretches. Unlike fine wine (apparently) I’m not improving with age.
Good luck with it.

A grey Tuesday morning. Kind of matches my mood. Work is getting me down at the moment. In terms of how much of it I have to do!
Really would like to do something about it, but it’s not easy switching jobs at the moment (or ever in my experience!).

I have a Mac Studio (M4 Max) that I use daily.
I have an iPad, that I rarely use, but keep on hand for the odd occasion I want to use it for any 3D model I may think of.
I sold my MacBook Air due to lack of use - but now I really miss it. I know I don't need one. but it would be so nice to have. I'm so tempted to buy another.........

I have arrived home and am exhausted.

A swift dash to town to purchase essentials - bread, butter, cheese, salami, Parma ham....and to write, print out, sign, and send references for my staff - plus post (yes, post) a gift of books to a friend who had been hospitalised while I was away, and write a lengthy debrief for my foreign ministry (which I have already spent two hours on, over coffee, at the airport - best to write some of this while impressions are fresh in one's mind) - are all on my mind just now.

Welcome back. Glad it went well.

Last night was an early night, and I suspect that tonight will be somewhat similar.
Well I only stayed up to watch the football. But if wasn’t an enjoyable watch.

But I seem to have developed a nasty habit of waking up around 4 something these last few nights. Just makes me tired in the early evening.

So I expect an early night is in order here as well.

At least the bed is made. Nothing worse than deciding to head to bed only to remember the sheets aren’t on it!

Fortunately the sun and wind made short work of drying them off today.

From a life long Mac user, way cool!!
Apple hit a home run with their iMac line, what’s your main usage with it?

We’re still using our 27” 2015 iMac i7 with 3TB internal HD, 11 years later, great longevity.
I don't do anything in the Mac all my time I spend it online.
