Why do I feel like I have bad luck? My 7 Plus was GSM only with a terrible modem. My new 7 has the good modem but it's got an issue with saying no service. I've had a bent iPhone 6. Stuck pixels on iPhone 5s. I live in a cellular black hole as well. I need a serious hug. It's raining and I'm grumpy.

I’m exhausted and it’s only halftime. RIP those who took the under.

You pop into the NFL thread - there's apparently some (outside of MR) betting going on where people have a $10,000 - 99,999 (i.e., 5 figure payout [they don't really ...])

The 7 I had for sale was filled with love and rainbows ... :D

I've been using MusicBrainz Picard for years, multiple OS distros plus a source option for real DIY-ers.

I tried this today and I couldn’t get it to read a disc despite it seeing the drive in it’s settings.

Given I have a two app working solution, I’m not going to put any effort into making it work.

Thanks for the rec though.

I didn't even realize it did some kind of "direct rip", I only use it on existing digital files.

Hahaha, __I__don't__know__ :D I've only used it for tagging/meta-data for existing digital files, maybe it was just seeing your CD/DVD drive as a source device[?]
I dunno then.

But, I'm using Asunder to rip disc's and then Kid3 to do the tag editing and that's getting the job done for me.

When I listen to music on my desktop with the Jotunheimen or in the back on the Magni/Modi/Loki/Raspberry Pi setup, there is no album art to be displayed. On the desktop, I use a command-line app to play music and in the back, it's all done remotely.

However, I like the album art when I use my Pioneer DAP, such as right now. It's very nice to browse the audio library and see all the artwork for admiration and quick identification of something I'm looking for.

I forgot about the NFL thread. Sorry I missed it during the game. I’ll check it out though. Thanks.

We had a blast watching the games this weekend, a little too much, I was supposed to catch up on some work :D We did get the last of the holiday decorations put back into storage (in the attic, that I sorted out with carpet, it's finish with AC, etc).

Squirrels are cute until they get into a house, particularly if cannot exit again. Then just one of them can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage to woodwork and furnishings if no one's around. Rodent / vermin damage exclusions on most home insurance contracts mean the damage is all out of pocket. Also they can be a hazard by gnawing on wiring in the interior walls of a home.

I'm not fond of squirrels, on balance, particularly the red ones. At present we don't have any red or grey either around here. They are a favored prey of fishercats and we had a couple of those guys pretty much decimate the local squirrel population about three or four years ago. But they'll be back, eventually... and so will the fishers.

I think chipmunks are a lot cuter. They like their underground burrows and don't seem to end up inside houses. One used to torment my indoor-outdoor cat by popping up from one or another of a zillion burrows in the yard and then dash down to safety when the cat took notice and charged at it. The chipmunk would pop up ten yards away and mock the cat... and the game would continue for hours..

Good point, Liz! Yes, I recall hearing about some problems in one of the buildings in my condo community, where squirrels apparently got into the attic (probably through an opening in the chimney) and set up housekeeping. The homeowners in the units just below could hear them all too clearly and of course there was a lot of destructive activity going on, gnawing and scratching and such, so they were quickly evacuated and all the buildings checked to be sure all the chimney caps were secure and that there were no ways the squirrels or any other critters could get in..... We have grey squirrels around here, no red ones or black ones (I've seen the latter downtown in DC, though).

i'm very unhappy about that, what's happening in Australia. I am not that kind of person who is concerned about nature, animals and similar problems, but now this is catastrophic even to me.. In my opinion, this is the worst issue now.

I brought my bad luck to my husband now. We went in to switch me to AT&T postpaid and we tried to use his name for the first responders discount. They put his social on his parents account so they're trying to say he owes $458. Him and his dad have the same name aside from Jr and III.

It's been fun.

Holy ****ing **** I finally found it after 13 years of searching! :D

A very specific version of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in a Major/A-Dur/A-Moll K. 219 - III Rondeau.

Anyone who knows classical music, and many of those here do, will know that there are hundreds, nay, thousands of versions of the classics out there and they all sound different. Some renditions of a piece we like and others not so much.

Many years ago a friend compiled a custom mix CD with a bunch of various tracks on it and this Violin Concerto No. 5 was on it. I fell in love with it on the first listen.

The CD he made was done in MP3, a lossy format and it wasn't done at a decent bitrate either, so it didn't sound it's best, but it still sounded acceptable. Over time, I lost the CD he made me, but I still had a ripped copy I made on an old iPod. A few months ago I was able to get that song off the iPod and onto my computer because I was afraid of losing it forever. All I had was a basic song name on it and nothing more to search with.

Off and on over the last 13 years, I've been trying to locate the original CD that song came from. Talk about trying to find a needle in a haystack! For some reason along the way, I got it in my mind that this song version was performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. I don't know how I came to that conclusion, but I would always search this song and see if the CD listed the BSO or not. If it didn't I would pass it up.

I even mentioned here on the forums in this post in 2014 where I offered it up to download for others to enjoy. (That download link is no longer valid). I mentioned it later in the Fall of 2014 again here. Again, I mentioned this song in 2015 in the private forum. In case it wasn't evident, I really like this song a lot!

Then the other day, as I mentioned in this thread, I was updating my music library with a new tag editor for adding all the album art to my music. For ***** and giggles, I loaded that old crummy MP3 into it to see what, if any, tag information it may have contained. The software, kid3 Tag Editor, has a feature where it can take a song you load into it and search Amazon, Google and some others for information on it. I clicked on the Amazon link and it took me to a CD that showed promise for being my white whale, my unicorn.

I decided to take a chance this time and ordered the CD and it just came in a few minutes ago. It is indeed the version I have been seeking for well over a decade. I'm so happy! It also was not performed by the BSO as I had erroneously thought, but rather Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen/Christian Tetzlaff Violin & Direction.

If anyone is interested in this one, here is the Amazon link to it. I highly recommend this particular CD of Mozart. It's a 2-CD set. Follow that link and scroll down to see the tracklisting. Also, if anyone wants a copy of that song, I'll upload it for you to sample.

Do, please, feel free to upload that piece of music; anyone's day will be immeasurably enhanced by listening to a little bit of Mozart.
