Er, yes, but I am not entirely sure that it actually feels that way.the 80s is far from 2020 just as much as the 60s were from 2000
No. Just no.
I said no.
NO!
Yes and no.
Definitely one of my biggest pet peeves. And the other has been relieved by COVID. When you are in a near empty restaurant, and they sit people on top of you. Especially in booths where can feel every movement of the people on the other side of your sideTrying to understand the mindset of people who must park in the immediate next space to my car in an almost empty outer store lot with at least 10 spaces on either side when I parked. Why, people, why?
YES! Why is it even if I park way out of the way not near anyone, I come out to two huge vehicles surrounding me?? Sometimes I can barely find mine. There is this ridiculously long pickup in our apartment lot that I try to avoid like the plague. Beyond just not being able to see, it is so long, if it winds up next to me, I can barely back out safely because I have to go so far back before I can start turning.I hear you on that, Namara! I have a brand-new car and the other day coming home from a run to the grocery store I deliberately parked in a different space than the one I'd had earlier, in order to not have to be parked next to a big old Jeep, which makes it difficult to see when backing out, even though I now have that wonderful backup camera. Ah, much better, thought I..... Until today I looked out and darned if that stupid Jeep isn't again parked next to me, having ALSO moved to a different spot!!! DANG!!! (However, he may have done it in order to avoid getting leaves all over the car, because they've been blowing around like crazy from the tree in front of the building and also since it's raining they make a mess all over one's car, too when they get wet.) Sigh..... So much for my attempt to get away from the Jeep.....
Don't complain. A few years ago I was parked in a completely empty parking lot. At noon, with a nice Texas sun shining in the sky. As I said, I was parked, making a phone call and/or eating something. Then I saw this car enter the parking lot, not fast, but not too slow. Once the car reaches the row I am in, I see this mystery car turn left. Not on the space between two rows of parking spots, but on the actual parking row, on the bright white lines. I see this car getting closer. And closer. And closer. Full-fledged side hit, resulting in a destroyed door, and some minor pain. To this day, I am still charmed by this crash.Trying to understand the mindset of people who must park in the immediate next space to my car in an almost empty outer store lot with at least 10 spaces on either side when I parked. I've seen that happen twice on the road where someone turned onto the wrong side of a road. Once a while back someone turned left onto the wrong side. Luckily, the light ahead was red and no one else turned onto the road from the shopping center. Unfortunately, a cop got them. The other wa s a few days ago they turned before the median instead of after. Didn't see the outcome of that one.Don't complain. A few years ago I was parked in a completely empty parking lot. Always in the window if it’s empty!Definitely one of my biggest pet peeves. And the other has been relieved by COVID. When you are in a near empty restaurant, and they sit people on top of you. Especially in booths where can feel every movement of the people on the other side of your side
I'm in Texas, my car is very small compared to most. Yet they always end up surrounding me when I'm parked all the way across the lot. It never ceases to annoy me. You've got a huge vehicle, can you park somewhere else not obscuring my view as I pull out of the spot?Trying to understand the mindset of people who must park in the immediate next space to my car in an almost empty outer store lot with at least 10 spaces on either side when I parked. Sorry, but I said No.

Amen to both posts.
And, - and yes - this has happened to me - why, in an otherwise empty cinema (in the days when we used to visit a cinema, which was something I rarely did), and I am a short female who wears spectacles - why do tall males come in, stand, peer around, and then proceed to march straight to where I am sitting and take the seat immediately in front of me blocking my view of the screen?
Actually, years ago, once I had gone to see a movie (in an afternoon viewing, so fewer people, I had hoped) with a male friend, tall, as it happened, - from my student days.
I had wanted to sit at the front of the entirely empty cinema, citing my experience that tall males come into an empty cinema, see me, and proceed to take the seat immediately in front of me.
"Nah", he replied, "come on; we'll sit half-way, and it's empty; nobody will sit in front of us."
And yes, tall males appeared, stood, surveyed the cinema, and proceeded to make their way to where we sat, half way back, and took the seats immediately in front of me, (but not him) thus blocking my view of the screen.
I think the dude I was with could feel the seething, simmering, rage that doubtless emanated from me, because I did not even need to articulate a syllable as he apologetically suggested that we move seats; which we did.

Perhaps. And I said, yes, and no.
I might even add "maybe".
This reminds me of the time I went to a movie in the early afternoon, thinking that I'd have the place nearly to myself, and indeed I did -- it was great and I was happily sitting there all by myself waiting for the movie to begin when a guy came in, and yep, decided to come and sit in the very row I was in, only a couple of seats away!!! Grrr!!! To top it off, it was a theatre where people were allowed to purchase food, including freshly-cooked hot foods, not just popcorn and candy, and consume it in the theatre itself. So, ugh, not only did I have him sitting there, but I could smell whatever hot mess of a concoction he'd just bought to have for his late lunch/early dinner!!!! I got up and moved a few rows away where I didn't have to smell the food and hear the rustling of bags and such and could enjoy the movie in peace.
I'm short, too, and I get really annoyed when either a really tall man or a woman with Big Hair plops down right smack in front of me in a movie theatre or a concert hall. One time I was at a concert where a couple of rows ahead of me, not directly in front of me thank goodness, there was a man sitting there with this huge cowboy hat on. I wondered if the person seated right behind him would ask him to please remove it. Well, just before the lights dimmed and the concert was to begin, an usher came along and took care of that situation, and I'm sure everyone around the guy was relieved.
But, I can never understand why - in an otherwise almost completely empty cinema - or concert hall - a tall, well built individual will choose a seat directly in front of me. My thoughts at such times are quite homicidal.
This is a lot... I am shook more and more every time I think how much time has passed since the 20th century. I was recalling some of my college adventures recently to some younger fellows, had to stop and think that they were 40-44 years ago...the 80s is far from 2020 just as much as the 60s were from 2000
