I am not a big fan of Christmas, or even Winter, myself.

And I have no disagreement with what you say. But the problem is not the 25th of December. The problem is not the holiday season. The problem for those above that you mention is much much deeper, and me being "a little more mindful of them" for a week in December will not make much of a difference; by the way, I never said to not be mindful of them as I never said that everyone should cheer Christmas by default.
The problem is that people don't think about the problem you mention for the remaining 364 days a year or so (not realizing that a person we middle finger for some traffic related issue might be exactly one middle finger away from doing something terrible), exactly as people don't care about helping the homeless if not during Thanksgiving week (all those selfies at homeless shelters...). Me not celebrating and not cheering Christmas (or whatever you prefer) in its fullest will not change things one iota if not making me more stressed out, and possibly more depressed myself which in turn will make me worse than what I could be, which in turn will make me less effective in the long term towards the rest of the community.
I think the main issue I have with Christmas time is the fact it’s rammed down your throat whether you want to partake or not.

Like the Superbowl to us who don't care at all about football... or many other events.
While in principle I don't disagree with you, it's just part of life and part of living in a society. So be it.
Which is pretty much why I live apart from society.
I suppose at least I don’t have to be concerned about the COVID rules! Both my parents who live hours away asked me what tier we were where I live.
I explained I had no idea.
COVID
No Covid
Lockdown
Tier 1-3
None of it matters. Our life hasn’t changed at all.

Not my style! More of a photobomber.

Enjoy the new M1 MBA!!! I'm still holding out for what I want to come into inventory at the local Apple store here.

Wow, and you bought the new headphones, too! You're on a real Apple roll these days! :)
Whatever you are waiting for may it come in stock soon.

Apple fruit roll: yes. Was trying to hold off on buying another M1 MBA but after receiving the MBP, I know my heart is with the MBA. Do not know if the 8gb of RAM will be enough (or if I am even attending Uni), but I still have time to return the MBP. Mulling it over this weekend.

No matter what I do about the MBP, the AirPods Max and the MBA are keepers. Saw that my local store had the AirPods Max in stock along with the base M1 MBA and jumped on both. The AirPods Max might help with the noise problems here too without impacting my hearing, so even better. No wonder why I keep getting Apple Card invitations and spam callers en masse... 😂

Regarding this year, it's been such a mess for so many people. I am fortunate and very grateful for everything I have and what comes next. I am finding the good in little things.

May everyone have a decent Friday.

And you. I love the noise cancellation on my QC35’s. Especially when travelling.

Our UPS driver brought some bottles of beer this evening. I let the warehouse guys share them between them.
Now I’m having a tea this evening.
That was more than decent. Well done, I'm sure that they appreciated the gesture and thought.

Well, as it happens, I haven't had a beer or glass of wine since last week-end, and so, I must say that I am looking forward to a beer or two this evening.

Since our expansion in November I’ve had a few nights away from home. These have included about 6-7 beers (in total, not each night!). That’s probably triple what I managed the rest of the year.

Jut as I had poured my beer, (and emptied some crisps into a bowl), Decent Brother rang.

An hour and a half later (well, we did have a terrific chat, although my knees are killing me as I was standing all of the time at the kitchen phone), I have managed to greet my beer. And crisps.

And - having had a chat of well over an hour with Decent Brother, once I had returned to my office, seated myself comfortably, and addressed my beer, I realised that there was yet more to discuss.

So, this time, I phoned Decent Brother, for usually, he phones me; cue another phone call of around an hour.

Very pleasant.

It doesn't sound as though the person who wrote that post is struggling in any way, though, and he or she apparently had not given much thought to those who are, as indicated by the way the post is written.

I wasn’t going to respond to your first post, but for you to presume that my life is somehow Leave it to Beaver from one innocuous post on a general thread on the MacRumors forums is a bit rich.

Get over yourself. You know nothing about me.

You're not doing anything good by telling someone off for being happy/unhappy for themselves. I've said this about the political climate before, and I'm going to say this again as someone who has their disabilities, has to deal with their mother's bi-polar/depression/chronic pain on a daily basis, and has had another person in their life suffering from mental illness. We all have to find a way to thrive in society, even with our problems.

I don't know about wanting normal people to care 365 days of the year just because it's mentally fatiguing even trying.

But honestly, it's good to see people, whatever background, talk about their problems. We need to see that the people who we think are better off than us actually have issues of their own they're also trying to work through.

100%. To many people are hiding their mental health issues. It doesn’t help them. And it doesn’t help society.
One of the biggest changes due to COVID is how many more people are struggling with mental health issues. I know of three people at work who really have deteriorated. One hasn’t been outside since March.

Ugh, hailstones.

Decided to forego the farmers' market this morning - I'll pay a fleeting visit instead this coming Wednesday - and have been busy with bedlinen and another wash.

I may attempt to venture out later for my week-end edition of the FT if the hailstones ease off.

We got a bit wet during our mornings walk. But it was sunny before and after.
Raining heavily now though.
