Also sometimes people retire as of December 31st, leaving their position open and available so that the employer begins advertising it and interviewing for it in January.

Our first snowstorm today! About 3 inches, I think. Actually, looks as though it has already stopped, as predicted. It's so pretty when there are big flakes falling gently or briskly from the sky...... NOT so pretty a couple of days later when the once-pristine white stuff has turned to ugly, dirty slush at the sides of the roads..... Not that I'm planning to drive anywhere for a couple of days anyway. We are fortunate in that this area is not receiving the bulk of this particular storm -- in the US, you guys up further north are the ones who'll be dealing with some major snow!

Been out with the camera then? It’s just wet here. Went for a lunchtime walk with Mrs AFB but both took umbrellas.

As am I.

If it were possible for me to sleep (soundly) until next March, I would seize this option gladly.
Are you a bear of a squirrel?

I’m very impressed with this.

Averaging 7,777 over 7 days. That’s a lot of 7’s!

Yes, I’ve interviewed a lot during February and March. Will keep my eyes peeled.

Annndddd General Winter is riding in on Winter Storm Gail as a Nor’Easter. May we be on the lesser end of snow accumulation now that it has started snowing.

Mom and I tested negative for COVID-19, another good thing.

Also older sis called, and I tried to be the calm between her and mom. At least mom feels less upset now so that is good.

Hope everyone is okay.

Oh, no, didn't go outdoors with the camera, or even on the deck this time: I took a few shots through the bedroom window with the RX 10 M4! It's COLD out there (low 30's Fahrenheit) and the snow was the wet, gloppy kind rather than the light, dry, fluffy kind.... It wouldn't be good for any camera to have that landing all over it!

Now it's raining, an icy-cold rain which is slowly washing away the snow, although right now we still have some on the cars, grass and sidewalks. I'm not bothering to go to the mailbox kiosk today to check my mail; anything I received this afternoon can just stay in the box until tomorrow!

Yes, the folks in the Pennsylvania/NJ/NY/CT areas plus further north are the ones bearing the brunt of this particular storm. In DC we're getting off pretty lightly, actually. I didn't realize that this storm has a name -- missed that when checking the weather reports earlier. Hang in there up in NY, Kazmac!! I hope you don't get inundated with loads of snow and that the storm moves on through your area fairly quickly.

Like everybody else, I'm ready for Spring now.....bring it on, let's just skip over January and February!!!

Kept pretty busy today with a few things, including updating all of my devices, and the Apple Watch, the final one in the parade, is working on its update now. I hope it is better than the last one, where people had problems with their Series 3 watch (which mine is) continually rebooting. A few times recently the watch has kept asking for my iCloud password, which was rather a nuisance. I'm hoping that is resolved with this current update. Everybody else -- iPhones, iPads, Macs -- went smoothly with their updates, thank goodness.

That is particularly good news, stay safe and take good care of yourselves.

I Hope @LizKat is not snowed under. We should be okay @Clix Pix thanks for well wishes. I am hoping to see the Blue Jays or Lady Cardinal tomorrow all fluffed up...

Safe trip to the mailbox kiosk tomorrow.

The winds are picking up. Hearing thunks behind us. I have everything charged.
Makes me laugh when you see the birds all puffed up. I know they are cold, but they look like little fluff balls!

Yes, they do. I am glad they can insulate themselves.

I hear the Blue Jays outside, the wind gusts are frigid. I am sure the BJs are warm, but it blows me away that they are calm during this storm (which is thankfully on the way out.)

I am ready to go back to sleep after our phone consultation with our new doctor. I want to sleep now, but will wait.

Glad to hear the storm is passing. Good luck with the doctor.

We have trees with feeders in our front yard, so we get a good view of puffy birds. What's cutest are the young ones who haven't ever experienced Winter before.
We have 7 feeding stations in the garden and three bird baths. Regular visitors include (by volume)
Sparrows
Blue tits
Coal tits
Great tits
Long tail tits
Robin
Blackbird
Green finch
Gold finch
Starlings
Pigeon
Doves.

Fantastic; sounds wonderful - and yes, when opportunity presents, would love to see some shots.

Trying to find work and facing homelessness after dealing with a crazy family situation.

The very best of luck.
