Took an evening stroll since the weather was so nice. Not a soul out and about except for myself and a couple of people walking their dogs, so I did something I've wanted to do for a while now and jumped around a little in the huge piles of snow that have formed here on account of the roads being plowed. Felt like a kid again, so that was nice.

Also earlier today I was on the phone with one of my oldest friends for about three hours. It's amazing how when you've known someone most of your life, in this case 30 years, you can go even close to a year without "proper" contact, and then just basically pick up where you left off like it was yesterday.

Hope everyone had a nice and relaxing weekend.
I have friends like that. We normally meet up for a couple of days every year, but haven’t since 2019 now.

Elizabeth the Virgin Queen

4 x 50 minute parts. Should keep you going for a little while.

Alfred the Great and the Anglo Saxons

Thank you. I think I've seen this but it's been a while, so I'll revisit it!

Timeline I think is where I saw it. They've got a wide barrage of documentaries. Aside from music downloads and no ads, this is another reason I pay for YouTube premium.

Don't forget, if you have seen/read anything by Philippa Gregory, there's lots of stuff about the White Queen
Also something about Lady Jane Grey, the 9 days Queen, and the first Queen of England (before Mary & Elizabeth)

Yeah, life just happens to get in the way, some move away to different countries or cities and so on, so constant contact isn't necessarily a possibility like it was when everyone was younger. Still, it's cool to know that the bond holds when most everything else around that can change.

I'm eagerly awaiting the time when travel restrictions are lifted, and it's acually safe to travel so we can meet up with a few buddies who live scattered around Europe. Not holding my breath though, and until such time there's always the good old telephone, now even with cameras!

I never use cameras for calls. Never see the attract.

Neither do I most of the time, but then again when it comes to f. ex. talking to family members and their kids, or just saying hi to whole families of friends that live abroad a video call has its uses.
I only talk to my parents. Neither would be able to deal with video calls. 90% of the time I call them I’m walking or driving anyway.

Same with me and tea. It would be dreadful!

As you know, I did run out around a month before Christmas - I had miscalculated - and promised myself that it wouldn't happen again; hence, ordering online.

Now, in truth, I certainly have sufficient coffee until Wednesday, possiby Thursday, but dislike the idea of running out.

The thing is, were it not for the Corona virus and sundry related restrictions, I could have hopped on a bus and headed in to the city buy some coffee from the really good coffee shops, where they stock genuinely good coffee. And a year ago, that is what I would have done.

But, these days, I ration my trips anywhere, for very sound reasons.

Very sensible. Looking forward to the day when you can head out for a coffee.

As am I, as am I.

In all of last year, I had one coffee out - and that, with a dear friend of my late mother's, in the week immediately preceding Christmas, in a beautiful 19th century hotel (suitably distanced).

Yes, I have had other coffees, over the course of the year, (not many), but in my own (spacious) kitchen, around the kitchen table.
