Ah, I believe you have a birthday coming up pretty soon, yes? One tends to mull over the Meaning of Life on such occasions, especially as the years pass and accumulate..... :)

Happy birthday @Scepticalscribe ! Do enjoy your bottle of wine, my birthday is this Thursday so I think I will be getting some wine and hopefully will be able to have a few close friends over given restaurants are still closed for dining.

🎂 Happy Birthday. Hope your coffee is freshly ground, your chocolate suitably dark and some wine is open somewhere ready for later.

Many thanks for your good wishes; Other Brother has just been on the phone for around half an hour.

Until a few years ago, I tended to drink red wines exclusively, and loved the quality of smoothness of a good Chateauneuf-du-Pape, or Ripasso, for example.

However, in 2013, at a private wine tasting, when I was offered Meursault, I had something of an epiphany, and now love the white wines of Burgundy, (and yes, have always enjoyed dry Rieslings from Alsace).

So, I think that a white wine from Burgundy may well keep me company later this evening.

Happy birthday. Enjoy the day and the wine. I also have an April birthday (18th) and will also be drinking something nice

Happy Birthday, Scepticalscribe! I hope you've been having a lovely day and will enjoy a nice evening as well with your lovely wine!

Happy Birthday @Scepticalscribe.

Hope you're having a pleasant and relaxing Sunday.

Thank you kindly, @AVBeatMan, @Clix Pix & @Septembersrain; your good wishes are much appreciated.

Have had lengthy chats with both brothers, today.

And a bottle of white wine from Burgundy has been opened.

And I see Arsenal are actually trying to give you three points for your Birthday as well!
Very generous.

Actually, am watching the (moving, and quite excellent) documentary Finding Jack Charlton, which was strongly recommended by both brothers; actually, both brothers - who discussed it with one another last week - said it reminded them very powerfully of Mother.

A nice bottle of red wine is definitely on my mind as unfortunately when Metro Manila went back into lockdown over 2 weeks ago the sale of alcohol was banned. The rationale is that it will reduce domestic violence while people are forced to stay at home.

I can imagine it would to be honest. As Mrs AFB doesn’t drink at all, I rarely do in the house. Think I’ve had two small beers this year.

Well, yes, but those who thrill to the horror of inflicting domestic violence will use alcohol (or the clichéd excuse of "nagging", the old "she drove me to it" - or a demanding superior at work) or anything else as excuse or justofication for their behaviour.

The truth is that they give themselves permission to behave in such an appalling way.

On a completely unrelated note, it was a coworker's birthday today as well.
