Thing is it’s not like the current football tournament going on in Europe. You have about 50 people per country. With the Olympics, you have so many more. The teams, the athletes, the coaches and support staff. Hundreds of them. Plus a lot more countries involved. That’s before we get to press and fans etc.
I think that Japan is not going to be permitting anyone other than the competitors and their support people (coaches, etc.) into the country for the Olympics; no fans from other countries, no family members, etc. I am not sure if they will have a large crowd of local Japanese spectators for each event or if there will be limits on that as well. I would assume that there will be representatives from the media, though -- there need to be so that the rest of us out here will know what is happening!

I'm tempted to light one of these while reading my Kindle:

That'd be a pretty cool anachronistic experience. :)

I actually got one of these for my birthday.

It genuinely does sort of smell like old books… until you light it. Then it just has a generic candle smell.

Wow I had a lucid dream last night which I hope augurs well. Really strange.
In fact I am writing it down as it feels like the continuation of a dream I had in May which reflects a lot of stresses I am undergoing at the moment. Same characters in some cases.

Oh, good grief, a candle that supposedly smells like musty, dusty old books?!!! Now I've seen everything!!! ROTFL! :D. :D

My old books smell of a musty, tropical fungus. They transport me back instantly to another country 40 years ago.

Now, this is an interesting thing. We all know how powerful smells are in evoking memories. This is because the nerves in the back of the nose connect directly to the base of the brain. All other nerves go a longer path via the spinal cord.

Ok my dreams are getting weirder. We took our university exchange students on a trip to Kazan Russia. We entered on bus and had the passport check etc. and they went shopping. I've dreamt of taking students to the Canadian Rockies as well previously as well as Nova Scotia (where I did my undergrad).

I think a number of us may have had strange dreams during the pandemic.

On my mind… the shocking amount of people that don’t understand due process.
I get a lot of crap about this because I refuse to jump on the bandwagon. Like with rape accusations and things of the like, I chose to not presume guilt. I might say it looks bad but I won't assume guilt. People love their hypocrisy to support only certain others. For me, you're innocent until proven guilty.

When I was getting my knees replaced, they gave me opioid tablets (not Oxycontin, that made me vomit). I was glad to get off them because they gave me weird dreams.

Now I find that for me, two ibuprofen and two paracetamol are as good as one Panadeine (paracetamol + codeine). Which is a good thing because my doctor won't give me a prescription for Panadeine any more.

I am not giving anybody advice, but apparently one ibuprofen + one paracetamol work synergistically, and are more effective than two of either.
