Why didn't MiniDisc take off in the US? I'm blown away by how sleek they were, especially compared to the flash MP3 players of the early '00s.

What is it that we don't know about YouTube? Why is it maintaining the very fabric of our existence? Should we be worried? What happens if they get closed down? Does maintenance on the Universe stop?
Probably because of costs and bad timing (=availability of MP3’s). I loved my minidisc but from what I remember they were quite expensive. Why didn't MiniDisc take off in the US? I'm blown away by how sleek they were, especially compared to the flash MP3 players of the early '00s.
(Watch 4, now runs about 3 hours before needing a charge. Goodbye $700. Won’t repeat that mistake.).
I think the move from tapes/vinyl was too soon before the mini disc move. People didn’t want to have to buy their music again (before they did on iTunes etc!).Probably because of costs and bad timing (=availability of MP3’s). I loved my minidisc but from what I remember they were quite expensive.
Ok that was a bit TMI, I will just say face-masks are indispensable but can't block odors of cooking, heavy perfume and other things. As to the minidiscs, just another tech that came at the wrong time or was made obselete. Remember PDAs?? My Palm Pilot was a constant companion until it broke. Coolest "app" I had was a Enigma German code machine simulator from WWII.
They had an extra S left over from Lego? Why do people write maths instead of math?
Maybe because it's short for mathematics? Why do people write maths instead of math?
My favorite will remain soccer, a term invented by Brits, adopted in the US; then the Brits switch to football and call the Americans crazy for calling it soccer; at the same time, the Americans invent a different sport called football that is 99% played with hands. One of my favorites is whilst (UK) and while (US).
Not sure that’s correct. It’s always been called football over here. The oldest football tournament still currently being played is the FA cup. FA stands for Football Association. If what you said is true, wouldn’t it be called the SA cup?My favorite will remain soccer, a term invented by Brits, adopted in the US; then the Brits switch to football and call the Americans crazy for calling it soccer; at the same time, the Americans invent a different sport called football that is 99% played with hands.
Totally true. From wiki:Not sure that’s correct. It’s always been called football over here. The oldest football tournament still currently being played is the FA cup. FA stands for Football Association. If what you said is true, wouldn’t it be called the SA cup?
Yeah. One repair site had it at $56 with tools, and the ‘ole DIY warranty, i.e. You’re on your own. A chance I’d botch that. Or, I could apply that toward a solar option, for example from Garmin, which is still innovating. It wasn’t long ago, when watches lasted for decades…I know, I know…it’s a new world.just replace the battery, it’s like $50 or so.
If out of warranty, the replacement at an Apple store is only $75. Definitely worth it.Yeah. One repair site had it at $56 with tools, and the ‘ole DIY warranty, i.e. You’re on your own. The soccer vs football label drives me a little nuts too. American football is almost totally hands (as you mentioned), but then they like to define everything only on their terms. Take refusal to participate in metric, or Fahrenheit over Celsius. My favorite will remain soccer, a term invented by Brits, adopted in the US; then the Brits switch to football and call the Americans crazy for calling it soccer; at the same time, the Americans invent a different sport called football that is 99% played with hands.
F over C doesn’t really bother me; I don’t have to convert F to anything else during the day. All the other ones yes as they make everything else more difficult as it’s a continuous conversion oz to lbs, mile to yard to feet inches. I’ll never learn them. The soccer vs football label drives me a little nuts too. Ah! There is a Canadian team: WORLD series! Lol. It’s more a tradition than anything else I think.Another sports related example is the World Series. Only American baseball teams participate, and only from 2 domestic leagues!
