You remind me of a scene in Asterix (maybe Asterix in Britain?) where two soldiers are talking about somebody having lamb with mint sauce for dinner.
The other replies with "What did the poor lamb do to deserve that?"
I had a friend that used to eat mint jelly on TOAST!

Seriously? Signed, loyal Firefox and Safari user.
Seriously. Some of the employer-designed software she needs to use was explicitly designed to run under IE.
I have been getting her to try to use Edge, and it mostly works. However, I have just seen a note that says that MS will be removing IE from Windows in the middle of this year. 'They' will have to fix their software to run under Edge.

The problem comes about because so many Windows-based programmers were trained to use the MS-proprietary APIs for their Web apps, and so the apps don't run properly under Firefox/Brave/Google Chrome/Vivaldi/Safari/Opera/Tor Browser/Netscape Navigator, etc, etc. It was subtle brainwashing that resulted in organisations being boxed in to using Windows/IE.

In Australia there are still some Federal Govt. websites that will only let you sign up if you use IE or Edge on Windows. You can't even use Edge on Mac/Linux. You have to be on Windows.

The Beijing Olympics, I will not be watching them do to the treatment of the Uygher Muslims.
Will neither watch it. But only because I would have to subscribe to yet another streaming service if I wanted too. I have seen so many Olympics, and there’s nothing in particular that I am overwhelmingly exited over in this one. So I pass. I am certain our skiers will mange it without my support ?
I have enough stuff to watch anyway, and the Olympic info will reach me regardless.
Good there’s a political reason for not watching too.

edit. It seems to me, in this pandemic times, on Chinese ground, there will also be so much restrictions and jada jada going on. So who really knows how fair it will be? Will not get into details, but I doubt this will be much of a real Olympics. Time and history will have its say.

I completely respect and share your concern for the Uyghers but IMHO no matter where they are held someone will get upset about something the host country has done.

I myself will be watching as many of my favourite athletes will be competing and hoping to see some get gold, Nathan Chen for one, probably a Russian sweep for women's single, and for hockey well I just want to see good hockey even if Canada doesn't get gold.

Ok this bit is insane and extremely user unfriendly.

In other news I am in Athens with our student group for two weeks as part of the new spring semester abroad in Switzerland and Greece. I am really happy things are rollng albeit with all needed precautions, I am vaxxed and boosted as are all students, got a PCR test before leaving and a random rapid test here all negative of course. Plus I can see the Acropolis out my window.

Nah, just lazy and incompetent.

My daughter is on my mind a lot today. Had some horrific dream about her last night. Still miss her everyday. 6 years hasn’t numbed the pain all that much.
I know that feeling too....from many various encounters with death.
What I have learned from, in particular losing my mom at 10 yrs old, and an own profound NDE 10 yrs later where I actually was dead for some time, are:
The soul don't die unless it have become extremely dark. The cycle of death and birth will continue from and for the evolution of the soul. An evolution we maybe don't always understand, and maybe not should until we do it either.
Losing people close to us are painful, but we don't have to lose the connection with their soul. It will always be with us, we can always celebrate that soul connection even if we lost them in the physically world. Wish you healing ??

Saw this on a tee shirt recently and thought it was quite funny;

Let’s eat Grandma.
Let’s eat, Grandma.

Commas save lives!

There's a wonderful book called Eats, Shoots and Leaves, by Lynne Truss -- check it out! Also, note that removing that all-important comma in the title changes the meaning significantly. :)
@Clix Pix: When I read @AVBeatMan's post, I must say that I thought immediately of Eats, Shoots and Leaves (by Lynne Truss) - agree, an absolutely wonderful book - which I read a number of years ago and loved.

Hard to not be dragged into the joy and happiness that our Olympic gold medalists have.
The reports can not fail to reach me. So I enjoy what is served.
Our little but mighty country have already reaped 2 gold ???
Wonder how much it will get at the end….? Who will surprise, and who will fall?
