Well, what's on my mind...

Due to work, I am moving to a new city on the other side of the country and leaving everyone I know behind. I'll be completely alone at first. Do I feel anxious? Not particularly, or least not now. Nervous? Nope, done it before. What then? No idea, first time I feel something weighing on me and I am completely unsure as to what it is.

Maybe it’s the unknown that’s on your mind. Alas, good luck with everything…

I woke up this morning, and feeling as if I need to strongly consider my current work role. My natural asset is to solve IT issues and create processes. So, not sure paying IT bills and budget concentration is my path…

All the best!
I forgot how annoying colds can be.
Hope you get well soon.

What’s on my mind? - Amused that the activity-ring-closed notification on Apple Watch, once triggered, cannot be dismissed. Quite a few times I had to stand in front of transit fare gates like a fool basking in joy of having reached my activity goal, while fellow commuters behind me wondered what was happening.

Good luck in your new home! I’m sure you’ll fit right in, seeing as you’ve done it before.

Not neccessarily. "To err is human, but to truly stuff things up you need a computer"...
Colleagues in the lab I worked in once transferred a home-grown data analysis program from Sun workstations to Silicon Graphics workstations. In spite of being written in C, the program gave different results depending on the brand of workstation, in spite of those coding the program being experts (one was a software engineer who then got a science PhD). The culprit (discovered after weeks of debugging)? One OS counted 0 as a positive number and the other OS treated 0 as a negative number. You should have seen their faces....

So the lesson is ... trust but verify.

We are starting another day without electricity since the storm destroyed hundreds of power posts and power lines over the weekend.
My thoughts are with us and all the others including the repair crews that are trying to get the grid back online.

So sorry about that! I hope the crews can get the electricity up and running again soon! 🙏🙏

I am going to be doing a similar thing as soon as sell our house and my mom's house. Going from mid-Atlantic to Arizona. Not for work, but for retirement. Going for work might make it easier, but there certainly is some anxiousness about doing it.

Agreed on the bit of anxiousness. As per your retirement, I hope you have a good one. Safe travel when you do move over

Thanks! Right now, reality has sunk in a bit more and to be honest I'm not feeling a "weight" anymore. Now, I'm more stressed on the actual trip as I have to drive.

Congratulations! I think the idea of having to move to a different part of the country is always brings in some unsure feeling.

I did this in 2016 when my wife, one-year old daughter, and I moved from CA to Virginia for a new job opportunity. It was tough to adjust knowing we were alone on the East Coast and all our friends and family were back in CA. But it was an experience I'll never forget.

Driving cross country was an amazing experience. Good and bad.

Agreed. I am not too keen on driving the distance, but do get excited at the prospect. If everything does come smooth I might engage a bit more on road trips from time to time.

Am beginning to think that we, as humans, then to think too much, and cause ourselves unneeded headaches.

I need to learn to be more mellow, and go with the flow, do and complete one thing at a time. To add, that's whether it be work, or even personal life...

What's the big deal with grilling? Maybe because I was not raised 'grilling out', I just don't get it. And, not to mention all the tools, some people have for grilling...

Well it’s like a picnic where you can also prepare your own meat cuts and sausages- I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

It can also matter where you live. In areas where you have winter and cold weather for 6 months, it's great to go out in the sunshine and warm weather and just hang out with friends, food and drinks and enjoy a warm breeze. Food just tastes...better when its grilled outside. Psychological maybe, but it does.

What's in my mind at the moment is the pollen count in the interior of Alaska where I live. There is a yellow color layer of birch pollen on the cars parked on my home's driveway, on the porch, and every other place (outdoors) I can see. Less than two weeks ago there weren't birch leaves to be seen, but this weeks the birch look nice and green. It hasn't rained for two weeks, and today I have been sneezing almost non-stop.

About grilling: "propane" grilling is fine down to -15 degrees F. or so. Charcoal works well too, but it takes a long time for it to get hot. Now, naked BBQ'ing is out of the question during the winter :)
