Well we are getting really high temps, up to 40 degrees tomorrow and Tuesday. Though I love the heat generally, we did have lower temperatures in the night and early morning the last couple of weeks, I mean 17-20 degrees or so. So you can cool down overnight. Not the case this week - so I indulged in a gelato. Ricotta blueberry meringue and almond/pistachio.

A nice jelly is my hot day treat.

When you lot are browsing Macrumors, are you using an app or simply a browser?
Yep, oddly, this is on my mind...
Currently just Safari. I used to use Tapatalk but for the last few months they had huge issues with forums and notifications and I’m done waiting for their folks to up the software quality.

I’m enjoying the World Track and Field Championships so far, the athletes have been excellent, I’m presently following the Women’s Marathon event on a trail bike and using my iPad 12.9 to write this. Isn't technology great?! Some of the Kenyan older coaching staff were stunned to see me here, I meet a few of them when I worked in Kenya with the UN. My UK friends take it easy in the heat wave, when I come back to England on the 25th, I will try to bring cooler weather with me. Back to the race.

Wondering why an entire IT department are unaware of how to install a particular application. And, this is an app that is used by the masses. Weird...

The bane of my existence in summer, well also spring and into fall. Over 90% of all animal species and half of all known living organisms. The largest group in the arthopods related to crustaceans we love from the sea.

Are you getting it?

INSECTS

Flies, and wasps particularly now, also ants when out in a park.

Where I am the super-colony of ants is sending out queens and drones to spread. They are literally everywhere. The birds are happy though.

When Roman leaders came back victorious from battle, they were sometimes granted the honor of a Triumph, a huge festival and procession in which the leader paraded through the city among cheering citizens. It was the highest honor that might’ve led to a Consul position. When they did that, a slave was put right behind the honoree, repeating a phrase of the like “you’re just a human. You will die.” In other words, the lowest member of society was reminding the leader that he had his limitations and that after all, he was a nobody even after winning wars.

I wish that sometimes some people still had this constant voice behind them. It would save us from quite a few jerks.

Sic transit gloria mundi.

I was reminded about a rumor that was started by Waiter at posh 5 star restaurant when Steve Jobs and Bill Gates in 1995 saw then having a meal together! Three Months later Steve came on with is former next guys! Then Apple dropped the Quicktime suit Apple had with Microsoft Windows player! This was the Government case against Microsoft backing the day! When Steve came back top he dropped the Quicktime case cutting the teeth out of the Government case! This was when Steve And Bill started talking together again and then Bill in his last act creat the Mac Business Unit and brought back Office to the Mac!

Little known fact to today's Windows nerd Off was first developed on Mac beck in Mac first days!

Aye, and therein lies the difference. Most homes and businesses in the US have A/C, either central air or A/C units in windows. In the UK that is unfortunately not the case, because historically they really have not needed it, whereas in the US many states get very warm and humid during the summer months. It's a whole lot more pleasant to live with temperatures in the high 80's and low-to-mid-90's as well as high humidity when one can adjust the A/C to one's comfort level. The majority of people in the UK and other parts of Europe for that matter have been really suffering the past couple of days because they don't have A/C and cannot get relief at the flick of a thermostat or button on a machine.
