Yes otherwise I’d be between medium-rare and medium at this point.
So not really an issue. As @Clix Pix rightly says, no AC at home or work. My day has been horrible. Glad it’s back to normal from tomorrow. It’s 11:30 pm and my bedroom is still 29 degrees. The fan helps a bit. But I’d happily swap for 43 if I had AC.

Due to the very hot weather that was coming, now gone thankfully, I treated myself to something I have always wanted. It’s a expensive luxury. I got a Dyson fan. I bought it from Dyson’s official eBay outlet store and it had a further 20% off.
I love it! It’s amazing, they class it as a desktop fan, but it’s so big it’s on the floor, I believe the base of the fan is the same size as the tower version, it just has a smaller hoop on top. It has a funky LCD screen for temperature, various air quality measurements and WiFi status (yes it’s a smart home enabled gadget!), fan speed, it tilts manually and oscillates automatically at various settings. It comes with a remote too.
the reason it’s so big is it has chunky filters in it as it’s classed as an air purifier, so it cleans the air it sucks in and blasts out.
I’ve set it up with Alexa to control it and the app is very good too, it even has a sleep timer and an auto mode where it will come on and off and set the fan speed depending on air quality.

Anyway it’s been on my mind as it whirs away next to me whilst I work, and I love the thing! Well worth the money I think, it helped during the very hot weather we had.

I don’t think they sell it anymore officially, it’s replacement is a bit smaller but lacks the app and smart home integration which I wanted, this is it anyway:

Its one of my most favourite tech purchases 🤣😂
Now I want a Dyson floor standing lamp…

Luckily I was in the office on Tuesday, lovely air con. But Monday night and evening I found particularly difficult, I think it was around 28 in my bedroom or higher, about 25 outside. Is it much cooler where you are now? Here in Dorset it’s back down to 24 degrees again. Much better.

Well, my rendering didn't go too well on Tuesday - One of the computers kept shutting down...

This was at lunchtime...

I add a ‘wow’ emoji to your post, but then remember where I am it was around 35 to 36 on Monday. Nice tropical weather, in the U.K.
Sure, understood and as the others have said we're all just not used to such swings are we? The next morning the temperature had dropped practically 20 degrees. Also, we had a strong smell of woodsmoke in the air as the local country park had fires spring up as we also had a strong very gusty hot southerly blowing (my weather station doesn't show it there.) At times it felt like Ming the Merciless was going to show up...

When I went for a run in park this morning the Horse Chestnut trees all had brown scorched leaves (from the sun rather than fires) on their southern facing sides, and it felt like everything was just trying to recover...

There are new puppy owners in our condominium house or nearby at times.
So funny how they talk to their little pup when they are training them on a lawn close enough to windows of mine. I hear their training. Especially late in the evenings or night when it’s pretty silent.
That voice talking to puppies 🐶🥰😂

A bit cooler here today. But I think I am on the verge of getting banned on another forum (which has a political section) then again soem folks over there are not as polite or smart as the peeps even if we no longer have the political stuff to test it so there is that.

What made you try it now and what are your positive take away lesson from the experiment?
Had the option to do so for work. Since it is 'free', why not.
Considering I have multiple other Apple device, it just seemed to make sense. In addition, it honestly just seems to work.

Currently, am in the phase of learning shortcuts and learning to do things differently to how I did/do them on Windows.

I also really need to learn how to reload the OS and things from a technical nature, too. Thus, if I damage the OS somehow, I know how to fix it...

I’ve made the switch almost two decades ago and never looked back. Hope your Mac discovery will be an equally pleasant experience.

@circatee I've used MacOS since the 1980's (I have actually prepared documents on a Lisa, so I go way back). I've also used MS-DOS/Windows and UNIX/LINUX for about the same time. I think in my 40 years or so of using the Mac, things have gone horribly wrong on 4 occasions - 3 hardware failures (1 disk failure, 2 display failures in 'vintage' iMacs), and 1 dodgy OS update (the update assumed the system and the user directory were on the same disk and had a little spasm because my user directory was on a separate disk from the OS). I've had way more problems with PC's. In any case it is easy to be complacent with MacOS, but simple precautions like backups are in order. TimeMachine is invaluable in this regard, and I usually use a fast external disk for this. On occasions I have used it simply to roll back the state of my machine to the day before disaster struck. Works a like a charm.

My coffee delivery (I placed the order last Thursday) - which has yet to arrive - is very much on my mind, not least, because I have finished up the very last of the coffee that I had in the house earlier today.

Yes, fortunately, it did.

My coffee finally arrived, around half an hour after the (already quite late) "window" for delivery that had been emailed and texted to me earlier this morning.
No coffee? If I were to run out of tea I’d run to the shops. The thought of running out makes me break out in cold sweats. I’m going to have to go make a cup of tea to calm my nerves. Enjoy your coffee (Kenyan?)

On my mind is work. And a rather unpleasant task in the morning I have to deal with.

Well, the coffee arrived eventually, quite late, later, even than the "window" of time (already quite late) within which the delivery was scheduled to take place.

The thing is, any other time I had placed an order on Thursday, the coffee had arrived on either Saturday or Sunday; and then, for it to arrive not just on Monday - but late on Monday....

Actually, I had strictly rationed myself yesterday; I had one single, solitary mug of coffee yesterday morning. This was because I wanted to ensure that I had sufficient coffee to return to the human race when I arose this morning, in the event that the delivery of coffee occurred in the afternoon (as it did, late afternoon, close to office closing time afternoon) rather than the morning, or around lunch time, which is more usual.

So, @Apple fanboy: Ever since I realised that my coffee delivery might be a bit tardy in arriving, I have been sipping tea in the evenings; sometimes, standard tea with milk, other times, black tea with either slices of lemon or slices of lime. And very pleasant it was, too.

During our extreme weather last week I probably cut down my tea drinking to 3-4 mugs a day. But now things are back to normal I’m easily on double that.
It is pretty much all that keeps me going these days. Something has to get me through the working day.

Just got an email from Amazon, they are increasing Prime membership costs from £79 a year to £95 a year, or from £7.99 a month to £8.99! That's quite an increase. It's verging on if you question having it at that point. Still compared to the other streaming services I guess it's in the same ballpark, and Amazon does include more then streaming in that price.
But the cost of entertainment yearly is racking up and that's without a cable or satellite contract.

It's the first Amazon Prime increase in the U.K. since 2014.

So this might sound a bit IDK, like a simp or stalker but saw on IG a "minor" athlete - medal winning from 4 years ago was on holiday in Geneva (she was giving lessons at a training camp in France) and I found myself looking around a bit too much whilst on my bike around the main tourist places I usually pass by. Pretty sure I would not do anything if I saw her - too shy and not wanting to bother people.
