I'm ready to cut my sister out of my first-tier life, after 8 months of not receiving an apology from her.

She & her bf have always been against the COVID vaccine, but she finally had to get it last November. She made the fatal mistake of not only telling our parents, but also telling them to keep it a secret - she didn't want me to know, because I had told her several times over last year that getting the vaccination would be inevitable.

Turns out our Dad was dying, having succumbed to severe heart blockage. And I had a right to know that she & her bf were taking precautions to prevent Dad from being exposed to COVID when they were around; and I also had a right to know that I didn't have to worry about her about getting a bad case of COVID as much, since she had gotten vaccinated. And she has a responsibility as a family member to not keep secrets about such things. Like Mom said - we never keep secrets from each other, especially that of our well-being (or not).

When I confronted her about it after Christmas, she blew up and said that she refused to talk about it and that she would leave immediately if she was pushed about it (she's 50 years old, mind you). I didn't want a blow-up the day after Christmas while we were all gathered at our family house, so I shut up about it. I was ready to confront her after the holidays, knowing that she would blow up and we would be fighting, and that Dad was the only one in our family strong enough to eventually mend fences between my sister and I.

Dad passed away early this year (thankfully COVID was not listed as a cause on his death certificate, or I probably would have used that against her), and I've let things go to be sure that Mom didn't have the added stress of family fighting on top of Dad's death.

My sister's bf is always taunting me about politics (he just can't help himself), and I told her that I would no longer engage them on the subject - in order to keep peace in the family; and I've successfully stood my ground by not engaging him. But lately, I find myself directing the energy I use to keep my mouth shut over to that of realizing that she never apologized to me for trying to cut me out of family business that relates to the health and well-being of my family (that she got vaccinated and told my parents not to say anything).

And my strength to overlook what she had done is weakening - that she never apologized to me is unfinished business, in my mind. And I find myself holding it against her.

^ I know, pretty heavy stuff; but it has strongly been on my mind lately - as this message topic requests. Thanks for letting me vent!

So glad I don’t have to deal with this sort of stuff. Hang in there. If you don’t want your sister in your life no rule says you have to. I haven’t spoken to mine in a decade.

Well, yes, they can all open it. However, it is the mind-bogglingly difficult process of closing the lid that is beyond many people.

This also applies to toilet lids, jam jars, putting the milk back in the fridge after using it and pressing the damn go button on the office dishwasher after filling it (that's if they even do fill it)...

Putting the milk back in the fridge… I am still working on that. One day I’ll be successful. #DontGiveUp

You need to consider the mobile phone bill first.
  1. It will be illegal to use a mobile phone in the carriage of a train.
  2. It will be punishable by death if you use your mobile phone in a public place to make a call using the speaker. We don’t need to hear your chat.
  3. FaceTime will only be permitted in your own house.
  4. Playing music (especially anything post 2010) through the speakers on the phone must result in a lifetime ban.
These are the rules. No warnings. If you break them your banned from owning a phone for life!

Ok, I will approve your legislative proposals, but I will amend the first ordinance as follows:

  1. It will be illegal to use a mobile phone for voice and video calls in the carriage of a train.
The rationale is that if the law as written by you is followed to the letter, then phone owners can’t use their phone at all - not even for video games or social media browsing - which means an increased risk that they will feel the need to socialize with me. I can’t allow that, I want my solitude even when I am among other humans.

As you can all see, my Empire is already starting well. I just need to find a good name for the capital. Yaxopolis, Yaxinton DC, Yaxylon…

Texts will be allowed. But you must have silent notifications. Games with volume switched off or headphones is acceptable.

Holy Sh-it….
On another place on the internet, it was a thread about Veganism.
Now I am not 100% vegan, I eat real good mature Cheddar cheese. Vegan cheese is sh#it.
So I wanted to give my opinions. I have never in a discussion experinced so much hate and judgemental attitudes over what people eat and not eat.
I eat 99% vegan food because I am healthier that way, my body have a great harmony with that lifestyle.
Oh no, I wasn’t allowed to think that I should have any advantages for my chosen lifestyle either. It was not veganism to a make choice like that.
They sounded much worse than any of the worst rabid fanatical idiots I ever heard.

Should I should be ashamed to be a 99% vegan now 🥲
No, I am not responsible for other people’s why and how-choices, or what they spread around or not.
Neither am I responsible for the whole planet.
I will however enjoy my cheddar even more now 😋
If that could create so much hatred from probably very young and ignorant small people, that have a lot of deeper issues behind their hate.
No we don't have to agree with people, but we can respect people's space and their choices without attacking and judge them.
I leave the judging to the judges and law territory. Most of us people are unqualifued to judge others in a neutral way.

Ok, thanks for hearing me out, 2-4 days to new Apple release now....🥰

You should try talking to the lay public about science. :oops: Most people are engaged and polite, but there are always a handful of people who want to take issue with everything you say.

Frankly I admire your 99%. I am at about 80% because I still have meat or eggs about once a week. I'm too carnivore to do much more. 👿

Yes, but people in general are pretty ok here, at least Mac-people 😁
It takes some intelligence to run a Mac. The only phone people....😉
Anyway, stepping back from dialogues is never bad, unless it's an inspiring communication.

As with various places and people, it's about to learn navigate various territories. Growth is exciting, and it's closely related to people and communication, and the so called 'lessons' always follows with better explorations.
