Since we’re talking about evil felines, quick update on my kitten.

He found out how fun book ribbons are, which means that he now actively participates when in the early pre dawn morning I recite the breviary (see my posts on the books thread). In other words, what was once a slow, relaxing morning activity is now a hectic and stressful game of preventing him from scratching me, scratching an expensive book, and/or chewing on such ribbons.

The good news is that I found out that incense has a calming effect on him as he’s mesmerized by the smoke that is slowly lifted in the room. The bad news is that to keep him calm I have the choice of either suffocate myself in incense smoke or I have to become a cigarette smoker.

We used to find that using a laser pointer (not one that can harm the retina) to exhaust our cats was a good way to calm them down in the end. It seemed a little harsh to keep them chasing something they could never catch, but war is hell.

I might be getting old, but I am certainly confused.

I was listening to a long YouTube conversation/podcast. I believe that clips of it are taken to TikTok and other social platforms. At any rate, the conversation was serious and on serious topics. They used words like:
- Grape
- Sax
- Korn

And other words. Their true meaning is obvious, you get the gist. I investigated a bit (for a grand total of about 2 minutes) and it seems that now this is becoming normal and normal because a) social media companies don’t want to “trigger” someone (how kind of them) 2) to avoid offending someone. I find it silly and troubling when discussing hard topics such as … grape.

@yaxomoxay It is starting to become clearer to me that a lot of Generation Xers are like my mother who have passed down their problems and ignorance to their children. I myself have a hard time hearing the word 'worthless' in any context, but you can't just be constantly policing language to not offend people. In the case of those topics, you have to talk about them sooner than later with the correct language, but social media shouldn't be the place and in the past were things that the school nurses and speakers came to talk to us about.

I got my Airpods 3 yesterday, very impressed with integration in iOS & macOS.

6 months free Apple Music with them is great too, eventually I'll try that out.

Well, I wouldn't wait until "eventually" to try it out. There's a time limit to claim the offer per the terms and conditions:

"To redeem the offer, you will need to connect or pair your eligible device to an Apple device that is running the latest iOS or iPadOS. Offer must be claimed in the Apple Music app within 90 days after the first time you connect or pair your eligible device to an Apple device."

Yesterday was normal time.
Today is Daylight Saving time.
Everything is an hour early.

Yesterday kitty (avatar <-- see left) wanted dinner at 6:30pm normal time.
Today she wants dinner at 6:30 DST. An hour early.
Who, or what, reset the time in my kitty's tummy? Or has she learnt to read the time from the clock on the wall?

Anoyher month before we will turn into wintertime here.
Still pretty warm too.

Otherwise I am getting more and more pleased with my MacStudio, and the Apple Studio Display - some days more then others.

Or... maybe she's just hungry all the time and begs every so often? ;) Our cats used to do this, but with different people in the house so it would look like they hadn't already been feed. So what we thought was a healthy dietary regime was actually a series of two- and three-course meals served by different human dupes of our conniving felines. Our tomcat ('Meatloaf') got so overweight from this that we had to put him on a brief diet (on vet's advice).

Wow, another cat just died. This time she was only three. Looks like heart attack as she just collapsed and had no changes in behavioral patterns.

Sorry for your loss! At least the cat didn’t have to suffer for a while and went away quickly.

For Security and west during cold dark Winters the lack power and fuel will be the results of shutting down Nuclear Plants was pigged headed in the extreme!
Perhaps, but there are alternatives to nuclear power that don't risk contaminating areas with radiation. Anyway, in the UK we've been told there might be rolling blackouts. In this regard, I am glad I don't have a 'smart meter' that can be used to shut off my power remotely, or charge me a kidney for energy use during peak times.
