As the title suggests, what’s the best thing you’ve bought in 2017?

I’ve bought a few different things, Headphones, a new AVR, new iPhone but as I write this the most practical thing I’ve bought and that I use every single day is my Dyson V8 Absolute.

That’s the most practical thing but my best tech buy goes to my Oppo 205. My first dip into 4K! Marvellous!

Richard Petty driving experience, 8 laps at Daytona. Most fun I’ve had in nearly a decade.

Now that my friend sounds amazing. I’m a big F1 fan but would love to see Daytona!

The hardware I used to upgrade my aging but durable mid-2009 Macbook Pro

- A Samsung 850 EVO SSD
- A 2TB 2nd drive (Seagate Firecuda SSHD)
- 8GB RAM

I paid for my project horse to go to 90 days of training... He leaves in February, and believe me... the countdown is on; this is very exciting and will help give him a new use and meaning/job (they need that).

Ah, this is more like it; I have been thinking about purchasing a pair - so, would you recommend that I do so?

Yes, absolutely. I know you like the B&W sound so know you’ll love these. I’ve used with my Oppo that has a built in DAC but also with my iPhone. What I mean is that you don’t need any extra amplification.

They are the best sounding headphones I’ve ever used.

Hm.

In a way, that is just exactly what I had hoped to hear.

My entry would be an Occulus Rift* headset and this game. Simply amazing.

How fast did you go? I’m not bragging, but when I was driving a mere 100 mph on the Audubon, it seemed to be more work than fun. ;)

No meaningful purchases I can think of. Maybe a few small electronic things but nothing earthshaking.

Finally sold our once primary residence as part of our (amicable) divorce, but it technically doesn’t close until next week. Movers come for the final load-out this weekend.

The certificate at the end said a little under 160mph. I’ve had a Camaro up to the 155 limit on a paved back road before, which was flat and straight, and the car felt like it was floating and ready to break loose with the slightest bump or mistake. The track cars on the other hand are tight to the ground, and figuring out when to start turning on daytona’s wide corners, takes a while to get use to. But once your in the car and it hits you that your driving on your favorite track, awesome feeling.

Yeah, people don't realize how insane things start to get near 150MPH, let alone approaching something like 200!

A new shower head, or a combi drill. Both have been absolute lifesavers.

Come to think of it, I really didn't buy that many things this past year (as you can probably deduce from what I mentioned above), I invested the money I had in experiences instead. Traveling, having fun with family and friends etc. The coming year will be different as I'm in dire need of replacing my old TV, among other things.
