I just went with the ones that were on Apple’ site just to be sure. Surprisingly they went to preparing to ship within the same hour of ordering.

If you're not going to buy a wireless charging pad directly from Apple, make sure the one you buy has as many coils as possible so you don't have any issues with placing / aligning the phone properly on the pad to get charging to start.

I've ordered one of these, as well as the black mophie version (one for home, one for the office). The Belkin one has shipped, the mophie says preparing for dispatch. Just another 7 weeks wait to use it with the X.

I am really looking forward to your review on the charger as it will guide me towards or against purchase. Congrats on your new phone!
Thx. I want to figure out if it charges at the full 7.5. Even if it works well, if it’s not 7.5, we won’t be maximizing charge speed. If I can get conclusive evidence of the 7.5 speed, I’ll post it here.

I have not heard that the product needs to be Apple related. Where did you read this? My understanding is ANY of the wireless products (Mophie etc.) will "fast charge" your device once the software update you refer to comes out.

I was under the same impression. Apple even sells mophie and belkin wireless chargers on their own website. I think 3rd party will be fine but I personally would be careful because I know some chargers can actually end up harming your battery life. But like you, I do not think they have to be Apple branded. Probably just like "Apple suggested".

It's definitely better to wait a few weeks and see the reviews and how phone cases will impact charging. Bumper would probably be best suited.

Just had an email to state my dispatched charger from apple is delayed and will be delivered on Friday.

Is there a difference in charging speed between the $60 Mophie/Belkin or can I just get an Aukey from Amazon $15 and call it a day? Price isn't really an issue, but I won't splurge on something if they'll charge at the same speed/look pretty much the same.

In order to take advantage of the fast charging, am I reading this correctly that you'll need:

- An iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or X device

- The new software update to come out

- A wireless charger (such as the Mophie one promoted by Apple on Tuesday)

- A Lightning-to-USB-C cable

- A USB-C Power Delivery-compatible charger

Am I correct?
I believe wireless fast charging is coming via update...normal fast charging you just need the 29w cable and brick

For people to get portrait mode almost took 2 months, plus something like wireless charging wouldn't be introduced in say 11.0.1 that's a major thing software wise so it'll probably be 11.1 before we see it so I expect November before wireless charging is enabled
Pretty sure it's wireless fast charging will come with a software update

Fast charging will work straight away

I just returned my Aukey. It was not powerful enough. Under 7.5 watts. Not sure which one you bought, though. Mine was the vertical stand.

I've used several of the Aukey chargers and they work just fine. Also Anker and Samsung make good Qi chargers as well.

Anker Wireless Charger with USB-C for iPhone 8 / 8 Plus, iPhone X, Nexus 5 / 6 / 7, and Other Devices, Provides Fast-Charging for Galaxy S8/ S8+/ S7 / S7 edge / S6 edge+, and Note 5 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N06CHQ0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_a1gWzbAN2BSMN

So if you already have an Anker 3.0 brick there is no need for anything else to charge at 7.5 watts, right?

That Aukey looks fine. It's 10W. The vertical one I ordered was under 7.5. I returned it before I knew the minimum charging requirements of the iPhone 8 and X.

What is the minimum charging requirements for the iPhones?

My Anker wireless charger came today with a spiegen case from Amazon. I'll be trying both those right away on Friday

I was looking at the cheaper ones, but didn’t trust that they would last that long.

Wireless charging Is flintstone technology in fairness. There isn't much to go wrong.
[doublepost=1505818862][/doublepost]Just a few words of advice for those thinking about fast wireless chargers.

Fast charging does degrade the battery. Not by much and if not done regularly, the damage is minimal, but it isn't phone friendly. The slower you charge your phone, the better for it. Fast wireless charging generates a fair amount of heat. The Samsung fast chargers have fans built in. (Highly recommended)

I have a Samsung S6 which has Wireless and fast charging. I find both to be really really useful. This is my approach:

I reserve fast charging for cable only. The S6 comes with an adaptive fast charger and enabling the fast charging option in the battery settings is quick and easy. Its also free.

I reserve normal charging for my wireless chargers i have at work and at home. Wireless chargers are not the most efficient things, so if you use them with piffling 0.5A plugs, they don't work properly (keep kicking in and out). I use old 2A tablet chargers that i have lying around. They work great. My wireless chargers cost €0.75c from amazon. i don't do fast wireless charging as it requires expensive chargers and i am cheap.

In day to day use, my wireless chargers trickle charge my phone throughout the day, either at work or at home. This is the best for the phone's battery and keeps my phone fully charged. It is also super convenient to just plonk my phone on the charging mat when not in use. An added bonus is i usually know where my phone is (on the mat).

If i have to have a quick top up for some reason, i simply plug the phone in using my Samsung charger. With fast charging set on by default in the settings, i don't have to change anything to get a rapid boost.

Charging this way ensures there is a physical difference required for me to change my charging speed, gives my the maximum amount of ease and convenience, doesn't cost me a penny and is best for the phone.

I've had my S6 for two years and my battery is still at 76% of its original capacity.
