I’m curious to how the Samsung fast charger will work with the iPhone? I have one coming in for the Note 8 and there is no need in going out and getting the Mophie if the Samsung charger will work fine.

Does anyone know if there are any chargers out there that take advantage of the Qi 1.2 standard of a 45mm charging distance?

That's a beautiful dog. :)
[doublepost=1505972395][/doublepost]Btw, will there be wireless chargers in the Apple stores by November?

I was under the same impression. Apple even sells mophie and belkin wireless chargers on their own website. I think 3rd party will be fine but I personally would be careful because I know some chargers can actually end up harming your battery life. But like you, I do not think they have to be Apple branded. Probably just like "Apple suggested".

They don't have to be apple branded simply because there aren't any, so far Apple doesn't make wireless chargers, unfortunately.

Samsung's wireless charging convertible is pretty good. Has three coils so positioning of the phone for charging on the pad shouldn't be an issue. The pad can be flat or vertical to prop your phone up in a standing position.

It also has a fan which is what caught my attention. Any sort of heat reduction would be a positive when it comes to wireless charging.

I got Turbot and Samsung chargers. Both work in portrait and landscape mode with 8 plus. Will update after I use them for few days.

I want to make sure that which ever one I buy, that it will be capable of faster charging once Apple releases that feature in A future software update.

Which qi charging pad are you guys buying? Also I assume you need to also buy a charger to plug into the wall. My understanding is this is the crucial part in order to take advantage of faster charging (7.5watts?) in the future.

I would think that for anything that uses either a lightning connection (not aware of any) or a micro-USB connection, that you could use an iPad charger plug - either the 10 or 12W plug should work. If the charger uses a proprietary connector, I would expect that charger to be included with the charging pad.

If it's a fast charger it should work

Normally I would agree but all the product listings say that the fast charging on the Samsung chargers only with the the latest Samsung phones, leaving me to wonder if they’re using some proprietary fast charging on top of the Qi standard, and whether that will work with the iPhone to get 7.5W.

If anyone is buying 3 or more chargers, Best buy has 25% off 3 or more of the Mophie chargers. I'm pretty sure it would work on the belkin as well.

RAVPower Fast Wireless Charger seems to have good reviews on Amazon.

I read somewhere that only the two models on Apple’s site will support fast charging because the “charge fast” signal is encrypted.

Since posting in this thread in Sep, I purchased the Mophie one for $60 and a cheap one off amazon ($7). Both work well, the Mophie is faster.

If you’re only charging overnight, the cheap one is fine. If it’s for your desk at work or in the kitchen, the Mophie might make sense. Not sure how QC chargers compare in terms of charge time (though I’ll test it and share results if someone’s mails me one).
