Well I use verified sources for information, like my governors twitter. Not fringe websites for my info

nice!! I’m sure it was packed @ucfgrad93

Nice! I'm sorry to hear that happened but I think people would be very keen on the zoom lens idea. Also, most of my friends take their college photos outside anyway all around campus, so it's basically like being at the park which has been open even during the stay at home order
And your governor said everything is fine now? Did he say there's nothing to worry about and the virus has gone? Did he also say go back to how everything was in February?

I desperately want things to go back to normal as soon as possible. But that soon as possible is a very, very long way off.

It's the ignorant and flippant attitudes of people that will drag this out even longer.

Yeah I mean I’m living like basically normal. No complaints

So you believe it's all behind us now and the virus has gone away?

I think the governors need to determine that and then open up if they think it’s OK. I, personally, am living basically like normal again minus the few rules in place

You didn't answer my question. You're obviously well informed and know more than the rest of us on here.

Yeah I think so but that’s because I’m following *verified* sources. That’s the key. Can’t be looking at random stuff. I follow my governors twitter, and sources like that. Not random blogs lol

So you've just confirmed to me that because you follow verified sources, you think virus has gone away and it's all behind us now. Completely ignoring the many, many experts that have repeatedly told us we'll be living with this virus for at least 18 months.

I can guarantee you that the New York governor doesn't believe and has never said this is all over. Far from it. We'll be lucky if the worst is behind us.

Why are states opening then?

So, now Twitter is a "verified" source (?)

yeesh... when did that happen?

Not really. Most of twitter is just funny memes

That's the first thing on my list to do when the governor of my state allows it!

The barbershops I frequent are all "first come, first served" (no appointments accepted), meaning there will undoubtedly be lines out the doors and down the streets! :(

I would be willing to bet that A LOT of guys are getting haircuts right now haha

I guess you could try a place that takes appointments? The salon I use pretty much only does appointments. I mean you COULD walk-in technically, but they're always busy and can't really see anyone who does.

My first strategy will probably be to arrive 15 to 30 minutes before a shop opens. If there's already a long line then I'll have to come back the next day and arrive even earlier!

Nice! Yeah hopefully the lines not too long. I would be shameless enough to take a lawn chair so I wouldn’t have to stand for so long😂

Sadly, not all government leaders are basing their decisions on sound epidemiological advice or taking human behavior into account. It makes no sense to relax restrictions in areas that are still experiencing significant increases in cases, though it's impossible to know for certain without adequate testing, which is still not available in most states in the U.S. Aside from the illness, fatality, and long-term medical consequences of COVID-19, overtaxing hospitals remains a real concern, especially as many are starting to offer elective procedures again.

I keep hearing from people who claim that government has no right to restrict movement or require masks. But isn't protecting the population what government is supposed to do, within reason? Otherwise, regulations like helmet and seatbelt laws wouldn't exist, and those are primarily intended to safeguard the individuals who wear them. In the case of COVID-19, the directives also protect others directly and indirectly.

There are right ways and wrong ways to do this. South Korea remains an example of the former, while the U.S. is unfortunately representative of the latter.
