Nick Cave "Dig Lazarus Dig - after a couple listens I'd have to say it is certainly not one of his better albums

Killing Joke "Brighter Than A Thousand Suns" - the new reissue that restores the original Chris Kimsey mixes...much better than the mixes on the original release

Dig Lazarus Dig is the first NC&TBS's album that I've thought "Meh!" about.

I'll have to have a look out for the KJ album.

Duff-Man says....I thought Grinderman was dreadful stuff - Nick trying to be something that he isn't anymore - and to me Dig Lazarus Dig is along the same lines...it does not have the "feel" of a Bad Seeds album, does not have anywhere near the quality of writing (both musically and lyrically) that Lyre of Orpheus/Abattoir Blues did. It is more like this is a "Grinderseeds" record. Maybe picking up the guitar again was not the best move for Nick.....oh yeah!

I blame the moustache!

Oh dear I have spent close to $100 on music down here in New Orleans this week (art conference + vacation woot). I picked up:

Louis Ford - "Just TRAD-itional" (local old timey jazz)
Charles Mingus - "Mingus Ah Um"
Preservation Hall Jazz Band - "Songs of New Orleans" (2 disc set)
Preservation Hot 4 With Duke Dejan
Duke Ellington/Count Basie - "Duke Ellington Meets Count Basie"

Led Zeppelin Houses Of The Holy

Nine Inch Nails - Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D

Nine Inch Nails - With_Teeth

On Tuesday morning, I "pre-order"ed "Hard Candy" by Madonna.

Got the single "4 Minutes" at that time.

Justice - Cross.

I'll undoubtedly be ponying up for R.E.M.'s new album on Monday (both the Deluxe and iTunes Deluxe versions, the corporate whores).

I'm tempted to nab The Whip - X Marks Destination whilst it's cheap, because I quite liked the iTunes freebie Single of the Week thing of theirs.

Panic at the Disco - Pretty. Odd.

I hated their first album, so imagine my surprise when I gave this one a spin. It's fun. It's really fun. Lush, psychedelic, and channeling Sgt. Pepper's and Abbey Road. I'm still reeling at the reversal.

Vinyl LIVES!

Picked these up this week, Mostly Picture Disc's, except the Allman Brothers Live.
I only buy the rare LP's these days when I see a good deal. 1000+ Vinyl LP's so far:D

Tina Dico - Count To Ten
R.E.M. - Accelerate
Stanfour - Wild Life

Really like what I am hearing so far. :)

Nada Surf - Lucky.

I bought it from the label (Barsuk) and got the bonus disc and also sprang for some more of those buttons with the Barsuk frisbee-totin' dog. And a DCFC Transatlantic button. I love that label's stuff, they have great decals from the album covers too, if you're not a big fan of the dog logo.

All the "pro panic posts" make me smile. :D

And any Zep album is a great one. HOTH is flipping terrific.

Goodbye Blues - Hush Sound
**** - Fall Out Boy

These! :D Cost a fair bit too, the original pressings are getting harder and harder to find. (From left to right, the 2000 pressing of Ny Batteri, and the 2001 pressing of Svefn-g-Englar).

Also I popped down to Amoeba and picked up Panic at the Disco's new one, "Pretty. Odd.," The National's "Boxer" (which is freaking amazing), The Long Winters' "Putting the Days to Bed" (not new, exactly, but great), and The Hush Sound's new one "Goodbye Blues."

Must buy more CDs...
