The Inkspots- Greatest Hits
Duke Ellington- Never No Lament

Picked up the reissue of The Anvil by Visage today, and couldn't help but giggle to myself after I sold my 1997 reissue CD just before Christmas to some poor (well he was after he bought it) ill-informed unfortunate. :p

Extra 4 tracks over the '97 reissue and 6 over the original album. Though I'm massively disappointed that they didn't see fit to include 'Der Amboss' this time round, in place of the Visage era 'Frequency 7' and 'Mind Of A Toy (Dance Mix)'.

And all for £7.99. Ha ha ha.

Just bought - Ed Solo & Skool of Thought - Random Acts of Kindness

MusicCatalog%5CE%5CEd%20Solo%20&%20Skool%20Of%20Thought%20-%20Random%20Acts%20Of%20Kindness%5CEd%20Solo%20&%20Skool%20Of%20Thought%20-%20Random%20Acts%20Of%20Kindness.jpg

Brilliant stuff, dub/reggae/breakbeat influences with good melody lines and rapping...

Last album I bought was the latest Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist.
It's supposed to be a return to their grungy/alt roots. Not so much. It's pretty good, but seems to lack the intensity that the Gish/Pisces/Siamese era spoiled me with.

I've been bathing in the stagnant water of my music collection for a while. I think my most recent purchase was Philip Glass' music from The Illusionist

Just bought this one: Renaissance: The Masters Series Part 10 | Dave Seaman Awesome alternative house music. I've already purchased severall Renaissance cd's as well as some Ultra Records cds, they have the best electronic music IMO.

Duff-Man says...arrived in my mailbox today - the new 2cd + dvd live set by Aviv Geffen.

For those not familiar with Aviv, outside of Israel he's probably best known for partnering with Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson as Blackfield whose two albums and live dvd are superb. Inside Israel, Aviv is very well known - his albums outsell U2. His next solo album will be his first sung in English and has contributions from awesome pianist Mike Garson (Bowie, NIN, Smashing Pumpkins etc)....oh yeah!

I'll check him out, thanks for the recommendation.

BTW, what does Duff-Man drink during Pesach?

Plus two funk/soul compilation albums, 'Then... that's what they called Disco!', containing lots of slightly cheesy but still good 70s and 80s dance tunes and 'SupaFunky, mixed to move ya!', with a few songs on it I didn't already have, from 60s soul/funk to 80s rap (Young MC is on there).

Wow, what a horrible state hip hop is in.

First it was about remixing old music, now it's about remixing old album names? Man.....

The album is good. Saul Williams is awesome. I'm also a pretty big Bowie fan. Art often references other art--in all mediums. It is nothing to be ashamed or disparaging of. I have no doubt in my mind that he is hoping that people will make the connection with Ziggy Startdust. Spare me your ignorance and music snobbery.

Just purchased Deathstars "Termination Bliss" off of iTunes. Can't get enough of this.

Cd's

Type O Negative "Dead Again"
Type O Negative "The Best of.."
Hellyeah "Hellyeah"
Gojira "From Mars to Sirius"

On a side note how do you have the graphics show up in your post?

It is neither ignorance nor music snobbery. It is observation. I have no doubt that you think that Saul Williams is awesome. I was not criticizing him and his potential awesomeness. But the truth is, hip hop is in a horrible state. Maybe it, as a genre, will turn itself around in the next few years (like indie rock has, for example), but I am not hopeful. It's all about the cash these days.

Oh, and I'm not a jerk. Name-calling is against MR forum rules. I don't think Barack Obama would approve. Way to lose all credibility from the very first sentence to the very last word.

It really shouldn't have been as good as it was. My favorite cd of 07.
