nobody mentioned any expensive pocket watches. guess people dont use em much anymore.

I did...although wasn't explicit in saying so.

As that's the only thing I collect, that's the only type of watch I would consider spending serious money on.

£600 is about $960. Must be a mistype since I doubt it was that inexpensive.

Nope, got it about 5 years ago. Looks like they've just jacked up the prices massively since then!

In 1988 I got a Rolex GMT master for around $1,800. Still have it, and still wear it!

Before that, I paid about $250 for a Glycine Airman with a neat 24 hour dial, when I was in the Air Force. The wrist band broke and now I can't wear it. I guess they don't make bands for it any more. Bummer.

I am for sure going to get a stainless steel :apple:Watch.

it amazes me that people will spend on a watch what a car cost. I dont know. Id rather have a car for that much.
I love fine time pieces and wish I could afford more. The most I have spent is $1100 on my Hamilton X-Wind and it is one of my favorite possessions.

I have my eye on an Omega Speedmaster, but that will have to wait until I am in a more comfortable position to lay down the money for that one.

$2500
Tag Heuer Formula One
I had to double take this...a Tag Formula One can be had for less than $1000. Wow. However, it is a fine watch.

Rolex Datejust, black face with diamonds, steel & yellow gold, fluted bezel, oyster band. $11000 for my 30th birthday

A car does way more than just tell the time. It's worth the money and you get what you pay for. You get significantly less than what you pay for in an expensive watch.
Wow! What an arrogant opinion. My watch is my favorite possession. I have a good job and drive a Cadillac. Not mentioning what I drive for any reason other than to let you know that I feel I got greater value out of my $1100 watch than a luxury vehicle.

I think JarScott was addressing those that spend 40k+ on a watch.

Whats the most you've ever spent on a watch

If you are choosing between car and watches, I would say you just cannot afford nice watches.

There are probably better ways to spend money than cars too, like food or water or shelter.

I bought a watch for around 350 that had a genuine slice of meteorite for a dial. What is the most you've ever spent on a watch? Is the apple watch more then you have ever spent on a watch?

$15... A watch is a tool, now obsoleted. The time is everywhere, I'd rather not have some hunk of anything strapped on my wrist.

If I felt like wearing something ornamental, then perhaps I'd wear a nice looking watch or a bracelet. But, it certainly wouldn't be a $500 piece of technology. That is hardly classy, attractive, or ornamental. It's just a look at me, I'm an Apple lover statement.

.

Why not just remove the band and buy an aftermarket leather strap. There are many to choose from and can spruce up the look of your Airman!

My favourite thing about this thread is the number of people claiming to have spent huge amounts of money on watches, but not actually posting any evidence in support of their claims.

I spent $2,321,000 on a watch. Do I win the thread now?
