Its difficult to understand because in no other aspect of life could you find this type of behavior unless you look into a grade school. Unorganized, effortless, mindless, clueless strategies.
Maybe that is the case here...maybe most of the players are children. Never actually thought about that.
Wow, umm... You just don't like fast paced FPS. It's a diffrent style of game. I don't like playing games that are too tactical because they are boring. If I wanted realistic respawns with tactical strategies and no healing I'd be playing paintball or join the military.
The point is, I don't want something too realistic when escaping from reality...
The concept isn't that hard to understand. There are a wide range of games that aren't super-realistic and are a lot of fun. Also one of the concepts behind respawns is that it helps simulate a larger battle. It can be as if the battle was 100 vs 100 and people just come in waves. If you have other wise it's 10 vs 10 and you have people sitting in corners just waiting around for someone to walk by. That play is boring to me.
Health regen is not my favorite aspect of a game though. I much prefer games like Battlefield or MAG where it takes time to be healed and it needs to be done by a medic player. Also, both Battlefield, DoD and MAG use wave respawns rather than individual timed respawns. That means that you could be respawning really soon or really late, depending on the time you die. It's almost as if a truck with reinforcements arrived.
Another cool thing about Battlefield and MAG is that there are tactical assets like artillery, communications AA and such that can turn the tide of battle and delay respawns as well.
Respawns are not really the issue.
Also, I really enjoy games like Unreal Tournament. They get by with punishing players who die a lot by not scoring you based on kills but rather on Frags (Kills - Deaths). So someone who went 1-0 will be ranked higher than someone who went 25 - 31. COD:MW doesn't do this because it's not a strictly deathmatch game, so they use a Score system to reward teamwork as well. So you can do well even if you went 1 - 5 if you get points for captures, etc... In even more team based games like BF and MAG you can get points for doing a lot of things, not just kills, because there is a lot more to a large scale battle than killing. Things such as repairs, assists, revives, healing, capturing assets, destroying enemy assets, etc...
Basically... The games today don't suck. You either just don't like the feel of them or you are looking for an excuse for your poor performance.
