I think it's nice that there's options for both online today. I don't know so much about the console community, but online on Steam you can find a group of likeminded friends for pretty much any game and get a server going these days for however you want to play. Limited spawns, instant, etc...

In the time this thread has run as a matter of fact you probably could have already solved it :)

SOCOM US NAVY SEALs might be good for you. it's like a tps. all that is to make the gaming experience more fun for players. If you die in the first 10 seconds of an online game, then you have to wait 10 minutes just to play again, that would be terrible in my opinion.:)

In my professional opinion, online gaming sucks as far as First Person Shooters go...(Halo, COD)

First of all the whole idea of respawning causes players to run around recklessly trying to get as many kills as they can not realizing that they themselves are dying numerous times...they're kill ratio will be like 1:1, but they'll brag that they have 20 kills!!! WHOOP-DEE-DOO! Then they start calling people who don't run "newbs"... even though he dies like 2 or 3 times but gets 10 kills (3:1 or 4:1) kill/death ration....what is going on here!?

Not only that, but when you get shot, and don't die, your guy REGAINS health!!!! Why!?!?!?!

If you get shot in the leg, then your guy should LIMP!,
If you get shot in the arm your reticule should focus in slower (or something)...But by no means should you be able to take shelter for a period of 5 seconds to "REGAIN" health...WTF!?!

Best FPS would be one with no spawns and no health regeneration...then it will be much more realistic...

Todays gaming sucks...

The best online FPS was the original Ghost Recon (w/ no spawns). Man i miss those days.

It makes them more fun. I'm all about dying less and getting less kills but having a high KDR. But a game without respawns is just boring and slow. Its a video game, it isnt meant to be like real life....life blows.

If you want a game to be realisitic, then when you die, you can't play the game anymore cuz your character is now gone. Or if you get injured, your buddies carry you out and to the medical facility. And the rest of the game is you going through rehab and learning how to walk with one leg, live with half your face missing, or being a vegetable. How about that for a realistic game?

Speaking of respawns…

You just totally resurected this thread. OP is going to be PISSED! ;)

I'll agree with that. I just wonder why everyone runs around like dip***** in the game with almost no strategy...i'm trying to propose a way to fix it so those players that die 10-20 times a game don't get awarded as much as someone who dies less and has a better ratio...

Yea I hate those kind of people too. I usually run around a lot, but there is a strategy behind it. :D

Amen to that, brother. I remember well playing Ghost Recon on my old iMac, back in the days of dial-up modems. I really, really, enjoyed that game and have often compared online first person shooters to it since. These days the only multiplayer fps I've been able to stomach is BBC2 on the PS3, and keep just as critical an eye on my ratio as my kill count.

You should play co-op games such as Team Fortress 2, on good servers.

Yes, teamwork and communication helps. Professional players are all about teamwork.

P.S. Not sure why this is on top with the last post in 2010. Probably spammer resurrecting thread but that post was removed.

They do get awarded less. Unlike you they can't show off to their friends how good their kill death ratio is or how awesome their camping spot is. However unlike you they probably have a lot more fun playing the game because they do what they find fun and just get on with it. Some people like running around like idiots.

OR have you ever considered that not everyone who plays the game is good enough to play using tactics.

I know this is an old thread and this is a bit off the topic. But this the same reason I stopped playing C&C online. Other players where so fixated on winning the game is as little of time possible. If I had a base that was hard to destroy in the first 5 mins of the game, they would just leave the game. Now it's been years since I've played C&C online so I don't know if this is still the case.

How about StarCraft or StarCraft 2. Are they played the same way online?

Hugh

Never played those games online. Only single player. But that is a very annoying part of online games. People have to integrity. If its not an easy win they just quit.
