Yep you are correct! I just ran into some upper-case characters and are different. I will keep updating my post though :D. Thanks.

My PC is being so extremely laggy! It's almost unbearable. Hope to get an intel mini in a few days :D woot

EDIT:

Just found out that lower-case "a" and upper-case "J" share the same flag! This don't look good.

Don't give up! It may be that all letters that have duplicate flags are used to spell out a scrambled word which would win us (you) the new Mac Pro and Dual 30" Monitors.

Kudos.:apple:

OH well. I figured there to be a total of 85 flags. There are 47 keys that can be used to enter your name then times that by 2 since you can use the shift key. Then add 1 for a space also subtract 10 since the characters quoted by iBookG4user can't be used, 47+47+1=95-10 = 85 Flags.

Testing...

EDIT: this post made my flag go from blue -> light blue.

Looks like my flag colour changed again.
Let's see if it changes in this post.

EDIT: yes it did. light blue -> orange.

How about this one?

Maybe the "R" stands for reply?

EDIT: and it changed colours again. orange -> green

Ok...one last test for the time being.

EDIT: went from green -> red.

Rule P (now solved!)

Moi un Mouton reported that the rule is based on day of the month.

Eraserhead identified the rule name: Presence in the forums, day last active.

Rule 1

wrc fan identified the determining factor: 3rd letter of user name, case sensitive

OrangeSVTguy identified the mapping and showed that there are flags for many dozens of characters. Since the rules for allowable characters in user names have changed over the years, we allowed for punctuation symbols that were previously OK but no longer legal, to handle legacy user names. So there's one flag for each ASCII symbol, and an extra flag for accented or other non-ASCII characters.

Nobody has posted the name of the rule, even though I gave you the first word. I hope our forums aren't limited to monoglots.

The R seems to change anytime you reply but it also seems mine changed when I didn't reply to anything...unless that was a glitch.

Off topic but some of you really need to get familiar with the EDIT and MULTI-QUOTE buttons. Friggin consecutive posters! Speaking of rules, there are rules about that. :p

oooooh
multiquote_off.gif
aaaaaaah!

</minor gripe>

muledogus, I said that as well about the Reply but I must have been wrong. It makes sense though and it does seem to change with replies. Unless the word is Recent, as in recently posted.

Sorry about breaking the rules, I was secretly doing some testing while posting...My bad.

It's not one of the bigger rules or anything but I think the mods tend to discourage consecutive posting. I was just having a petty/cheeky whine while pointing out the non April Fools features of the board. :)

You weren't alone by any means anyway. :p

Don't worry, I didn't take it to heart.

Anyway, from what I can tell it DOES have to do with replies. Everytime I reply my flag changes. It goes in order of Orange, Red, Blue, 'Gray'.

But as you said this was mentioned before and didn't seem to be the right answers...What gives?

edit: Not to say Orange is the First reply or anything, I don't know what color the pattern actually begins with.

Dunno but it definitely changes according to replies but I am not sure exactly how. I think there's a green and maybe purple in the mix too. (not sure but I could swear I've seen it go purple)

Which user names did you compare?)

No one has identified rule 'A' yet? It seems to be connected to usertitle. Anyone with a user title of newbie, member, regular or 6502 gets a wrench, while everyone else gets a gavel, almost without exception. I'm guessing there's a join date stipulation in there too. If this isn't the case, there just happens to be a high correlation rate.
